Box Office: Chinese Animated Film 'Ne Zha 2' Shatters Record
Mumbai, February 5 - The box office insanity is at its peak as Chinese animated film Ne Zha 2 has gone bonkers in the domestic market over the Lunar New Year holiday weekend. The movie is setting new day-wise box office records and is about to become the biggest grosser in the country.



Released on January 29 on Wednesday, the sequel to the 2019 movie took a massive opening of approximately $68 million before exploding during the Friday-Sunday weekend. It grossed an insane approximately $666 million (RMB 4.84B) in the first 7 days.





This is the single-film box office record for the Chinese New Year period in the history of the Chinese box office. It is set to become the biggest grosser in China by beating 2021's The Battle at Lake Changjin, which grossed RMB 5.77 billion ($800 million) by Thursday (9 days) already.





According to Deadline, the total Mainland grosses of all movies reached RMB 9.51B ($1.3 billion) from January 28-February 4, making it the biggest Lunar New Year weekend by outgrossing the previous record of RMB 8.02 billion. From the same period last year, China's box office saw an insane increase of 234%.





The animated franchise has historically dominated the box office as the original Ne Zha is the 5th highest-grossing title ever at the China box office with RMB 5.03 billion. The latest sequel is projected to become the first $1 billion grosser in the market and is expected to finish its run with $1.2+ billion. The movie was made on a budget of RMB 600 million ($80 million).

Japanese Movie 'Jujutsu Kaisen 0' Set To Surprise At The Indian Box Office

Mumbai, June 29 - In a major surprise, the Japanese animated dark fantasy film "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" is having a good advance booking at the Indian box office. The movie will be released in the original Japanese language on Thursday (June 30) in the 2D, IMAX 2D, and 4DX formats. ## Based on the manga series Jujutsu Kaisen 0, "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" has already sold over 17K tickets at the national multiplex chains in India, which is very good considering the movie is having a limited release and that too in the original language. Such good advance booking of the movie also becomes very good knowing the fact that Japanese movies haven't had a great history at the Indian box office. ## Directed by Sunghoo Park, the movie is a prequel to the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series. It was originally released on December 24, 2021, in Japan before the international rollout. It has grossed over $161 million worldwide (according to Box Office Mojo), including $108 million at the Japanese box office. ## The movie follows Yuta Okkotsu, a young student who becomes a sorcerer and seeks to control the cursed spirit of his childhood friend Rika Orimoto in Jujutsu High alongside other skilled mates.
