Tom Cruise's Space Movie Cancelled: Here Is Why

Mumbai, December 30 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has reportedly cancelled his space movie, which he was supposed to film in outer space, under the direction of Doug Liman, who previously directed the actor in American Made and Edge of Tomorrow.

Tom Cruise had been preparing for a sci-fi movie, in an attempt to shoot it in outer space. But according to the latest report by Page Six, the film has been cancelled after Cruise reportedly refused to ask for President Donald Trump's help in its production.

As reported earlier, for Cruise to film in space, he and director Liman needed to collaborate with NASA for the project. However, the actor would have had to ask a favour of President Trump to make it happen, which the actor didn't want to do.

The untitled movie was announced in 2020 and was supposed to start by now. It was set to be made with both NASA and SpaceX's involvement to ensure it could be shot into space. However, the federal government, and specifically the President, would have needed to sign off on the plan, which Cruise didn't want to.

Meanwhile, Cruise has been working on multiple projects. Earlier this year, he wrapped filming on a new black comedy directed by Alejandro G. IÃ±Ã¡rritu and is also reportedly in talks with Paramount to work on the third Top Gun movie.

Mumbai, July 28 - Marvel Studios/Disney's Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has become the first-ever movie franchise to hit $30 billion at the worldwide box office after the release of the latest blockbuster Deadpool and Wolverine. The milestone was announced during the studio's Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, led by studio chief Kevin Feige.## MCU started with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man (2008) which grossed $586 million globally. The latest Deadpool & Wolverine which is the 34th movie in the blockbuster franchise pushed the MCU to become the first to reach the $30 billion milestone after the record opening for an R-rated title and is poised to score $450+ million in its global opening weekend. ## The comic book turned into a feature film franchise has delivered unbelievable success for Marvel/Disney. Los Angeles, January 18 - James Cameron has done it again as his latest blockbuster Avatar: The Way of Water has become the highest-grossing film globally of the covid-19 pandemic era. ## The sci-fi epic surpassed Marvel/Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home's" $1.92 billion on Tuesday and also become the 6th highest-grossing tentpole of all time. It has grossed $572 million domestically (North America) and $1.35 billion internationally, for a global cume of $1.916 billion through 5th Monday. ## The Disney-backed tentpole will be hitting $2 billion worldwide by the 6th Sunday and will become only the 6th film ever to achieve the feat. Los Angeles, September 26 - Amid the anticipation of Avatar: The Way of Water, Disney re-released its predecessor Avatar in theaters and getting rich rewards at the box office. ## It has been 13 years since AVATAR was originally released in 2009, but the striking world of Pandora is forcing people to visit theaters to watch the 4K remastered version. The film generated $10 million in North America and $20.5 million internationally for $30.5 million worldwide over the opening weekend of its re-release. ## "We're talking about a film that's 13 years old, which people can watch at home. The big draw is the Imax presentation. 'Avatar' is serving as a reminder of how cool the imagery of Pandora looks on the big screen", says Paul Dergarabedian, a senior media analyst with Comscore. ## The response to the Avatar re-release has been such huge that it beat the new releases as well as the re-release of some of the biggest blockbusters of all time. The movie came above Florence Pugh's "Don't Worry Darling" which grossed $30 million worldwide, though it was the number one movie in North America. ## In terms of recent re-releases, ticket sales for "Avatar", which played in 1,980 theaters, came in 85% ahead of the re-release for "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which grossed $5.4 million from nearly 3900 theaters earlier this month. Domestically, "Avatar" also came above the combined gross collection of the rerelease of "No Way Home" and "Star Wars: Rogue One".## As per Variety, the remastered version of "Avatar" took the No. 1 spot in smaller markets like France ($2.9 million), Italy ($1.5 million), Singapore, and Thailand.
