WWE Monday Night Raw, February 5, 2024: Live Coverage

The show kicks off with a recap of Cody Rhodes' events from the previous week.

World Champion Seth Rollins enters the ring.

Michael Cole notes that Seth is currently not cleared to compete tonight.

Seth greets the Raw audience and reminds everyone of his identity. He acknowledges the eventful week he's had. After SmackDown, Seth mentions smelling what's cooking, drawing boos from the crowd. Amidst the crowd's chants for Cody, Seth expresses his desire to talk to him and invites Cody to the ring.

Cody's entrance music hits, and he walks down to the ring.

In response to Seth Rollins and the St. Louis crowd, Cody inquires about the topic they wish to discuss.

Seth remarks on the unexpected "Rocky Sucks" chants, addressing the tumultuous week Cody has experienced. Seth empathizes with Cody's situation but insists on getting answers. He emphasizes the prestige of the championship and his need for this match to prove himself. Seth openly questions Cody about facing him at Wrestlemania.

Drew McIntyre's entrance interrupts the conversation as he makes his way to the stage and then the ring.

Drew grabs a mic, expressing confusion and frustration at the situation. He accuses Seth and Cody of jeopardizing their Wrestlemania match, criticizing Seth for his hatred towards Punk. Drew encourages Cody not to let down his family and fans, citing a planned Wrestlemania pose at a grave site. Seth questions how Drew plans to face him if Cody doesn't accept the match, highlighting Drew's losses to Cody.

Drew responds, attributing his losses to external factors and reminding Seth of his own defeats against Cody. Drew commends Seth for holding the "Workhorse" championship but claims it's time for him to take it. He accuses Seth of not being a true workhorse, suggesting he should have been "shot" after the first injury. Drew delivers a punch to Seth, and Cody intervenes by sending Drew to the floor.

The scene shifts to Becky Lynch leaving her bus earlier in the day, and we also witness Kayden Carter and Katana Chance arriving at the venue.

The broadcast goes to commercial.

Qualifying Match to Determine the Number One Contender for the Tag Titles Match: Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods vs. Julius Creed and Brutus Creed vs. Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser vs. Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa

Ciampa and Woods initiate the match. They engage in a lock-up, and Ciampa gains control with a side headlock. Ciampa follows up with a shoulder tackle, but Woods responds with a dropkick and transitions into an armbar. Kofi tags in, delivering a crossbody after Woods takes Ciampa down. Kofi manages to secure a near fall. Maintaining momentum, Kofi applies a wrist lock, and Woods contributes with a kick, setting up a clothesline. Woods follows with a splash, earning a near fall.

Kofi re-enters the match, ascending the turnbuckle and landing a forearm on Ciampa's arm. He applies a waist lock, but Ciampa counters with an elbow, causing Kofi to miss a back elbow attempt. Ciampa capitalizes with a kick, and Vinci tags in. Kofi responds with a well-executed dropkick, but Kaiser and Vinci coordinate for a double dropkick combination, sending Kofi into the ring post.

The broadcast then transitions to a commercial break.

Back from commercial, Kaiser chokes Kofi and stomps on his neck. Kofi fights back, hitting a dropkick. Vinci tags in, but Woods responds with a clothesline and back heel kick. Julius enters, but Woods counters with the Honor Roll. Gargano and Ciampa execute pescados. Kofi dropkicks Ciampa and Gargano off the apron. Vinci and Kaiser trip Kofi, leading to a suicide dive by Gargano. Julius hits a swanton, and Ciampa delivers a Super Air Raid Crash.

Post-commercial, Vinci sends Julius into Gargano and Brutus. Kaiser joins for a double superplex. Kofi and Woods contribute to a Tower of Doom. Brutus attempts a moonsault for a near fall. Vinci, Brutus, and Julius exchange moves, with Ciampa and Gargano ending it with a knee and superkick combination for the win.

WINNER: Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa

Shayna Baszler reflects on her past Elimination Chamber experience, determined to take her time and dismantle Becky Lynch limb by limb tonight. Becky acknowledges the stakes, emphasizing the need to defeat Shayna for her future.

Becky Lynch vs Shayna Baszler in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Shayna and Becky exchange holds early on, going to a stalemate. Shayna targets Becky's hand, slamming it into the ring steps. After the break, Becky counters with a back heel kick and a flying shoulder tackle. Shayna gains control with a sliding knee. Becky attempts DisArmHer, but Shayna sends her into the ropes. They exchange kicks and slaps, with Shayna applying the Kirifuta Clutch. Becky floats over for a near fall and secures the win with a uranage. WINNER: Becky Lynch

Cathy Kelley interviews Liv Morgan about her upcoming match against Zoey. Liv emphasizes that her focus is on revenge, specifically targeting Rhea Ripley, and not on others' business. The segment shifts to footage of Nakamura spitting red mist in Cody's face in Knoxville.

In Knoxville, Nakamura spits red mist in Cody's face. Backstage, Adam warns Drew about the shirt, imposing a fine. Rhea Ripley demands a match with Nia Jax, leading to an altercation. Adam Pearce grants Rhea a match against Nia at Elimination Chamber. Nia attacks Rhea, overpowering security. Bayley's Wrestlemania decision is teased, and Asuka and Kairi Sane prepare for their upcoming match.

Akira Tozawa and Maxxine Dupri vs Ivar and Valhalla

All four start the match with chaotic action. Tozawa rips off the shirt and hits a suicide dive to Ivar. Maxxine gets a near fall with a sunset flip. Dupri adds a back handspring and elbow. Ivar catches Tozawa mid-air, but Dupri lands a cross body for a near fall. Valhalla takes the action to the floor, where Dupri lands a clothesline. Ivar responds with a Spin Kick of Doom, and after some distraction attempts, Ivar finishes the match with a World's Strongest Slam off the turnbuckles for the three-count.

WINNNER: Ivar and Valhalla

Cole mentions R Truth's ongoing adventures, and a recap is shown of last week's events.

In THE Clubhouse, Priest and Finn discuss potential opponents. Dom asks for space for Rhea, and they assure her ability to handle Nia. JD mentions facing Miz, and R Truth shows up, apologizing for being late. JD dismisses him, but Truth insists on joining.

Balor clarifies there was no initiation, walking away. Priest tells Truth to make himself at home. In Gorilla Position, Miz discusses Truth's unpredictable behavior and declares it a declaration of war, unsure of what to expect from him.

JD McDonagh (with Dominik Mysterio) vs Miz

JD takes control with forearms and kicks to Miz while Dom distracts. JD delivers a back elbow and a jumping double knee strike, followed by a chop. Miz counters a drop kick, catapulting JD into the turnbuckles. Miz responds with a clothesline and knees to JD. JD attempts a Flair Flip, but Miz counters with a back body drop, sending JD over the top rope to the floor.

Miz Irish whips JD into the ringside barrier, follows with a suplex on the floor, and sends JD into the announce table. During the break, JD gets something in his eye, prompting the referee to assist. Dom interferes, allowing JD to knock Miz into the announce table.

After the break, Miz and JD exchange offense, with JD hitting a uranage and moonsault for a near fall. JD goes for another move, but R Truth's music interrupts as he tosses shirts into the crowd. Miz gains control with an Awesome Clothesline, a crossbody, and attempts the Skull Crushing Finale. JD counters with an arm drag, leading to a series of events outside the ring involving Dom, Truth, and a distracting shirt. JD hits a moonsault for a near fall, but Truth's interference backfires, allowing Miz to secure the victory with a Skull Crushing Finale.

WINNER: Miz

After the match, Truth picks up the money, and Dom confronts him.

Kayden and Katana express their determination to bring the fight and warn Asuka and Kairi about their future challenge.

Kaiser and Vinci discuss the ceremony with Adam Pearce, emphasizing the need for perfection. Bron Breakker enters, and Adam briefs him on the details of his offer.

The show goes to a commercial break.

We return to the scene with CM Punk gearing up for his triceps surgery. He opens up about the frustration of handling simple tasks and mentions his determination to power through the pain and physical therapy. However, he emphasizes that the mental aspect will be the toughest challenge.

The focus then shifts to the ring for the GuntherBration. Ludwig Kaiser introduces Gunther, the man who has held the Intercontinental Championship for an impressive 605 days.

Upon entering the ring, Gunther acknowledges the gesture of celebrating his 600-day milestone but makes it clear that he doesn't want such events in the future. He asserts his dominance as the Ring General, declaring himself the greatest and longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. Gunther expresses that he's running out of worthy competition, claiming there's no one in the locker room deserving of facing him.

Interrupting the celebration, Jey Uso makes his entrance.

Gunther, seemingly unimpressed, acknowledges their last encounter in the Royal Rumble where he eliminated Jey. Gunther accuses Jey of disrespecting him during the celebration.

Jey denies any disrespect, praising Gunther for earning his accolades. Gunther, however, questions their shared perspective, pointing out Jey's tag team success and claiming that Gunther achieved his championship on his own.

Jey defends his tag team accomplishments, asserting himself as a former tag team champion for over a thousand days and the first tag team wrestler to main event Wrestlemania. He expresses his desire for the Intercontinental Championship.

Gunther dismissively states that it took Jey 15 years to step out of his family's shadow. He accuses Jey of riding on his coattails and threatens to beat him worse than his family did, suggesting Jey will regret trying to step up.

The tension escalates as Gunther bumps Jey, prompting Jey to retaliate. Ludwig Kaiser and Vinci join the fray, attacking Jey. In response, Kofi and Woods rush to the ring to aid Jey in the skirmish.

Shinsuke Nakamura asserts that Cody's desire for a bull rope match won't give him an advantage but will instead bring embarrassment to Cody's family. Nakamura predicts pain, loss, and shame for Cody in a match that Nakamura wants for himself, not the fans chanting for Cody.

Katana Chance and Kayden Carter vs. Asuka and Kairi Sane for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

Asuka and Chance kick off the action as they engage in a lock-up, resulting in Asuka swiftly sending Chance to the mat. Responding with determination, Chance counters with a series of forearms, followed by a clothesline, and then delivers kicks to Asuka.

In the background, the other tag teams on Raw are attentively watching the match on a monitor.

A moment of disrespect unfolds as Chance slaps Asuka, prompting Asuka to retaliate with Kawada kicks. A quick rollup by Chance nearly secures a pinfall. Carter enters the fray, and Asuka misses a hip attack, finding herself caught in the ropes. Seizing the opportunity, Chance lands kicks on Asuka, and Carter pulls Asuka to the outside. Exploiting their advantage, Carter directs Sane into Asuka, creating chaos as Chance is sent crashing into both Asuka and Sane.

The scene transitions to a commercial break.

As the broadcast resumes, Asuka delivers a punishing kick, followed by Sane's axe kick. Asuka follows up with a bulldog, while Sane executes a dropkick, resulting in a near fall. Carter retaliates with forearms, but Asuka responds with a forearm strike of her own. Asuka attempts an Irish whip, but runs into Carter's boot. Carter dodges Sane, causing Asuka to miss a hip attack in the corner. Sane then tags in, ascends the turnbuckle, but misses an elbow drop. Despite Carter's attempt to make the tag, Sane prevents it until Carter manages to kick her away.

Chance tags in and lands a faceplant, then proceeds with a dropkick to Sane, sending Kairi into the turnbuckles. Chance follows up with a running clothesline in the corner and kicks Sane while she's in the ropes. Climbing the turnbuckles, Chance delivers a double stomp to Sane's back for a near fall. Asuka tags in, joining forces with Sane to execute a combination of kicks from the front and back for another near fall.

Asuka prepares for a powerbomb, but Chance counters with a double leg takedown and a rollup for a near fall. Chance then sends Asuka into the turnbuckles, following up with a forearm strike. Carter tags in and executes an Alley Oop double stomp after launching Chance into the air. They attempt After Party, but Sane interrupts the pinfall attempt.

Sane is subsequently sent out of the ring, and Chance re-enters the match. They set up for Keg Stand, but Sane trips Carter and pulls her out of the ring, sending her into the steel steps. Asuka delivers a round kick to Chance's head, setting her up for Sane's reverse DDT followed by an elbow drop, securing the three-count for the victory.

WINNERS: Kairi Sane and Asuka

In an earlier interview with Jackie Redmond, Sami Zayn reflects on his journey, drawing parallels to his career-defining match last year. Despite nearly clinching victory in his hometown, he remains focused on the present. Sami recounts a conversation with Triple H, who dubbed him "Rocky" and encouraged him to fight like an underdog. However, Sami asserts himself as a contender, not an underdog.

Regarding championship significance, Sami expresses his determination to prove himself to fans and validate their belief in him.

After the break, upcoming matches are announced: The New Day and Jey Uso versus Imperium, R-Truth versus JD McDonagh, and Liv Morgan versus Zoey Stark in an Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match.

Cody Rhodes vs Shinsuke Nakamura in a Bullrope Match

Nakamura tosses the bell to Cody, who quickly kicks him as the match begins. Cody follows with more strikes, including a knee and seizing the bell. Despite Nakamura's attempts to evade, Cody pulls him into the ringside barrier.

After the break, Cody continues his attack, slamming Nakamura into the ring post and applying a side headlock. Nakamura fights back, sending Cody into the turnbuckles and delivering kicks. Cody counters with a dropkick to Nakamura's knee and attempts a figure-four leg lock.

During the break, Nakamura escapes using the cowbell.

Returning, Cody counters Nakamura's moves with a flying forearm and a power slam. He lands a Beautiful Disaster kick and attempts a CodyCutter, countered by Nakamura's axe kick. Despite Nakamura's efforts, Cody gains the upper hand, sealing the victory with a CrossRhodes after a series of strategic moves involving the cowbell and the ring ropes.

WINNER: Cody Rhodes

Drew McIntyre executes a Northern Lariat on Cody, followed by a barrage of back fists. He then prepares for a Claymore and delivers a decisive strike.
