Chiyaan Vikram's 'Thangalaan' Trailer Date Announced

Chennai, July 8 - The trailer of Chiyaan Vikram's period action drama film Thangalaan, directed by Pa. Ranjith, will be released on July 10, Wednesday, the makers announced on Monday. ## As one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year, Thangalaan has been in production since October 2022. Though the filming was wrapped up in July 2023, the post-production has been going on since then and it is finally getting ready to release on August 15 this year. ## Produced by Studio Green and Neelam Productions, Thangalaan is set during British rule in India, where Thangalaan, a tribal leader, goes on a valiant struggle against the British after they plot to seize his land for gold mining. ## The movie stars Vikram in the titular role, alongside Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan, and Sampath Ram. Chiyaan Vikram's Much-Awaited 'Thangalaan' Release Date Postponed

Chennai, December 17 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram teamed up with director Pa Ranjith for a period action drama film titled Thangalaan. The film is set during British rule in India and is about the tribal leader Thangalaan's valiant struggle against the British after they plot to seize their land for gold mining. ## Chiyaan Vikram recently shared on social media that he has started dubbing work for the movie, which gave the impression the film would be ready to release by January 26, 2024, as announced earlier. But now, according to the latest reports, Thangalaan is set to be pushed from its original date. ## It is said that the makers have submitted the film to screen in multiple prestigious national and international film festivals, and for that reason, it has been pushed to June 2024 release in multiple languages. Box Office: Sivakrathikeyan's 'Maaveeran' and Telugu Romantic-Drama 'Baby' Score Excellent Opening Weekend

Chennai, July 17 - The incredible rise of Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan continues as his latest Tamil political superhero film Maaveeran is set to emerge as a huge blockbuster for the actor. Directed by Mandela fame Madonne Ashwin, Maaveeran concludes its opening weekend with around 43 crores gross worldwide. ## Made with a budget of around 35 crores, Maaveeran took a fantastic opening of over 9.50 crores gross, before registering a good jump on Saturday and Sunday to bring in 11 crores and over 12 crores gross, respectively to score the domestic opening weekend of 32.60 crores. ## The movie had a fantastic weekend in Tamil Nadu with a gross collection of over 25 crores while it also did well in Karnataka, AP/TG, and the rest of India. Chennai, October 23 - After scoring the biggest hit of his career with multistarrer, Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1, Tamil superstar Chiyaan Vikram now joins hands for the first time with director Pa Ranjith for a Pan India film, titled Thangalaan.## The title of the movie was launched today (October 23) with the first look teaser. The first glimpse released by the makers features Vikram as the leader of a clan and the clip also offers a glimpse of Malavika Mohanan who plays the female lead along with Parvathy Thiruvothu and Pasupathi in key roles. Chennai, July 16 - Tamil star Vikram aka Chiyaan Vikram, who is waiting for the release of his long-awaited action thriller movie Cobra, has teamed up with director Pa. Ranjith for his next movie, tentatively titled Chiyaan 61. It marks Vikram's first collaboration with the director, who is known for the movies like "Kabali" (2016), "Kaala" (2018), and "Sarpatta Parambarai" (2021).## "Chiyaan 61" is touted to be a period action drama film and will reportedly be shot in 3D. 'Seththumaan' to be part of Chennai International Film Festival

Chennai, Dec 29 (IANS) Director Tamizh's 'Seththumaan', which has been produced by Pa Ranjith's Neelam Productions, is to be a part of the Chennai International Film Festival that begins on Thursday. ## Making the announcement on social media, director Ranjith, who is known for the hard-hitting, social cause-espousing films that he produces, said, "Happy to share that 'Seththumaan' from Neelam Productions is going to be a part of the Chennai International Film Festival. Do book your tickets. Sathyam Cinemas on 01-01-2022 at 3 PM." ## 'Seththumaan' hasn't been the most eagerly awaited films for its story has been written by Perumal Murugan, the author of 'Madhorubhagan' better known as 'One Part Woman', which triggered a major controversy with some religious groups taking strong exception to the manner in which traditions had been portrayed in the book. ## Ranjith's production house, Neelam Productions, too put out a tweet to confirm the news. The series gave an insight into the lives of four Bollywood wives - Maheep Kapoor (wife of Sanjay Kapoor), Bhavana Pandey (wife of Chunky Panday), Seema Khan (wife of Sohail Khan), and Neelam Kothari (wife of Samir Soni). ## The season first of the series became so popular that season two is already in the works. Meanwhile, Karan Johar who is a pivotal part of the show, recently revealed that the idea for making Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives came while going for a condolence meeting with the four leads of the show. ## Spilling some beans on the same, Karan said during a Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives reunion on Clubhouse, that while he was traveling with the four ladies for a condolence meeting as one of their friends lost their father, he realized that these ladies are completely crazy. ## He further said that they were discussing their attire in flight for Delhi, much like Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Page 3', whether Neelam had too much shine on her white kurta or whether Maheep was underdressed for a chautha.
