IMDb Unveils Top 10 Most Anticipated Upcoming Indian Movies of 2024

Mumbai, July 23 - IMDb has unveiled the top 10 most anticipated upcoming Indian movies of 2024, and not so surprisingly, superstar Allu Arjun-fronted Pan India action drama Pushpa 2 - The Rule takes the first spot. ## Directed by Sukumar, the sequel to the 2021 movie Pushpa - The Rise, Pushpa 2 has been the talk of the town ever since the first part was released. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, the blockbuster movie is scheduled to be released on December 6 in multiple languages.## The second most anticipated Indian movie of the year is superstar Jr. NTR's action drama, Devara: Part 1 which is again a Pan India title. It is directed by Koratala Siva and also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in their Telugu debut. The movie is slated to hit the big screen on September 28. ## Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy entertainer, Welcome To The Jungle (Welcome 3) is the third most anticipated movie of 2024. The multi-starrer tentpole is currently scheduled to be released during the Christmas weekend, however, it is likely to be postponed to next year. ## Thalapathy Vijay's sci-fi action thriller, The Greatest of All-Time (GOAT) is the 4th most-anticipated Indian title of the year. There are nearly a dozen films already lined up to release on August 15 and some of them are potential big-money spinners.## The Hindi box office can see one of the biggest weekends of the year starting on Independence Day. Netflix Announces Post-Theatrical Streaming Slate of Upcoming Tamil Films

Mumbai, January 17 - Netflix has been on an announcement spree regarding the post-theatrical streaming slate of South Indian films. The streamer recently announced several Telugu films which will stream on its platform after their theatrical run and now, it has announced Tamil titles. ## One of the biggest Tamil films to stream on Netflix after its theatrical release is superstar Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. The theatrical release of the film is yet to be announced but it is expected to release either Diwali this year or Sankranthi 2025. It will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. ## Netflix also has Lyca's Indian 2, starring legendary Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar. A sequel to the 1996 blockbuster "Indian", it is easily one of the Tamil films of the year, scheduled to release during summer. It will be available to stream on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, post its theatrical release. ## Chiyaan Vikram's period action drama Thangalaan, directed by directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, is also grabbed by Netflix. The movie is announced for theatrical release in April 2024. Sony Pictures International Production's debut in Tamil cinema, tentatively titled SK21, also produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is also part of the Netflix lineup. ## Among the other films, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja directed by Nithilan Saminathan along with Keerthy Suresh-led Passion Film Factory and The Route's Revolver Rita directed by K. Chandru, Dream Warrior Pictures’ Kannivedi, SNS Productions' Sorgavaasal, and AGS Entertainment's Conjuring Kannappan is also part of Netflix's line-up. ## The unreleased films will debut on Netflix after their theatrical releases. The film is set during British rule in India and is about the tribal leader Thangalaan's valiant struggle against the British after they plot to seize their land for gold mining. ## Chiyaan Vikram recently shared on social media that he has started dubbing work for the movie, which gave the impression the film would be ready to release by January 26, 2024, as announced earlier. Chennai, May 2 - The Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) has inspired South Indian filmmakers to make larger-than-life films against its backdrop. ## Yash-fronted "KGF" is already a record-breaking film franchise and there is Chiyaan Vikram-starrer "Thangalaan" is currently in the making, based on the true events that revolve around the lives of mine workers in the Kolar Gold Fields.## Now, Tamil director Vetrimaaran is reportedly working on a story set against the KGF backdrop and is likely to reunite with Dhanush for the same. The duo has already worked together on some of the most critically hailed films like Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Vada Chennai, and Asuran. ## Producer KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, producer of "Thangalaan", has reportedly confirmed a new KGF-based film with Vetrimaaran and Dhanush (according to indiaherald.com). "On the basis of his historical research and results, he (Vetrimaaran) will create a movie. And based on the study he conducted, Pa Ranjith completed Thangalaan, according to Gnanavel. ## The movie in question, however, is unlikely to start anytime soon as Vetrimaaran already has a couple of films in the pipeline. He will be finishing "Viduthalai - Part 2" before moving to the long-awaited "Vaadivasal" with Suriya.
