Salman Khan Takes A Dig At Director AR Murugadoss For His Remark On Sikandar's Failure

Mumbai, October 13 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has taken a sarcastic dig at director AR Murugadoss, who made wild excuses for the failure of Sikandar. The action drama, which marked Salman's first collaboration with ARM, was released earlier this year and bombed at the box office. During the recent interview, ARM said that it was difficult for him to work on the film as he seemingly accused the superstar of reporting late to the sets. Though ARM also said that Salman used to come at 8 PM due to the security threat, his remarks didn't go well with the actor. During the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Big Boss 19, Salman responded to the criticism with his trademark wit. "I used to reach the set at 9 PM, but my ribs were fractured." In a sarcastic tone, Salman added, "Hamare director sahab bolte the aisa, lekin unki picture (Madharaasi) jo abhi release hui hai, uske actor to 6 baje pahuchte the. Wo Sikandar se bhi badi blockbuster hai". Salman also stated that both producer Sajid Nadiadwala and Murugadoss distanced themselves from Sikandar after its box-office failure. "First, Sajid left, and then Murugadoss also stepped away to work on a South film," he quipped, hinting that the team moved on quickly after the film's underwhelming performance. #Latest: On the #BiggBoss19 set, Megastar #SalmanKhan finally opened up about what went wrong with Sikandar and took a strong stand against director A.R. Top 10 Biggest First Week Grossers of 2025 In Hindi: Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 Fifth

Mumbai, October 10 - Amid the dominance of outright Bollywood films, a South Indian title has also made a noise as far as the biggest first earners of 2025 in Hindi are concerned. Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 has lived up to the expectations to score 100+ crores opening week in the dubbed Hindi version. The film's Hindi version has scored a good first-week collection of 107 crore net, making it the fifth biggest first-week grosser of 2025 in Hindi. The achievement is even more impressive considering it's a dubbed Kannada release competing with some of Bollywood's biggest franchises and star-studded blockbusters. Vicky Kaushal's mega blockbuster Chhaava is the biggest opening week grosser of 2025 in Hindi, with dominating numbers of 219 crore, setting a new benchmark for Hindi films this year. It's followed by Yash Raj Films' unexpected blockbuster Saiyaara, starring debutante Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, with 173 crores, while Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR's War 2 is third in the list with 150 crores first week. Here are the top 10 biggest first-week net-grossers of 2025 in Hindi - 1. Chhaava "“ 219.25 crore 2. Saiyaara "“ 172.75 crore 3. War 2 "“ 150.40 crore 4. Housefull 5 "“ 127.25 crore 5. Kantara Chapter 1 "“ 106.95 crore 6. Raid 2 "“ 95.75 crore 7. Sitaare Zameen Par "“ 88.00 crore 8. Sky Force "“ 86.50 crore 9. Sikandar "“ 90.25 crore 10. Jolly LLB 3 "“ 74.00 crore While Chhaava continues to reign supreme with an extraordinary 219+ crore first week, Saiyaara did surprise one and all with a massive opening week. YRF's War 2, though it is the third in the list, largely underperformed considering the massive expectations had from it. Kantara 2 entering the 100 crores club within the first week is a solid result for a dubbed version. With multiple 100 crore openers and even mid-range films showing resilience, 2025 is set to hear for a solid end with a few potential blockbusters lined up to release in the remaining months. Did AR Murugadoss Blame Salman Khan For Sikandar's Box Office Failure?

Chennai, August 19 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss has been in the media headlines ever since his film, Sikandar with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, failed miserably at the box office and turned into one of the lowest-grossing films of the actor in many years. ## In one of the interviews, the Ghajini director reasoned that due to a language barrier, he couldn't properly execute his plans, which led to the downfall of the film. Now, a new report is circulating on social media where it is claiming that ARM blamed Salman for the film's box office failure. ## According to the many reports, referring to ARM's interview with Bhardwaj Ranjan, it is said that the filmmaker accused the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star of not coming on the set during the day, as they had to shoot the film only after 9 PM, even with school-going children. ## While it is true that ARM said the above thing, it is not entirely true that he put the blame on Salman. The filmmaker reasoned that due to death threats to the superstar (which are valid and genuine), they couldn't shoot the film during the day in open areas, and that is why they chose night schedules. ## Because of this unavoidable reason, the shooting of Sikandar had a lot of spot changes and involved CG work more than expected. The Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty director, however, claimed that he couldn't execute the original story, which was close to his heart. And that he was not the only one who was accountable for his poor execution, as he did not have a commanding unit. ## Meanwhile, ARM is gearing up for the release of Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, which is scheduled for September 5. ## Stay tuned...

Sikandar Director AR Murugadoss Responds To Why Tamil Cinema Is Not Able To Produce 1000 Crore Films

Chennai, August 18 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss, who last directed superstar Salman Khan's Sikandar, has been in the news for the past few weeks for various reasons. The director caught everyone's attention recently when he blamed the language barrier for the box office failure of Sikandar, even though he had delivered a couple of big blockbusters in Hindi. ## A few weeks after his statement regarding Sikandar's failure went viral, the Ghajini director gave another statement, which is making a lot of noise on social media. During the promotion of his upcoming film Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Murugadoss explained why Tamil films are not earning 1000 crores worldwide, while other top industries do. ## Speaking to Valaipechu Voice, the director observed that Tamil filmmakers approach cinema differently from their counterparts in other industries. "Filmmakers in other languages tend to concentrate on entertaining people only, whereas Tamil directors tend to view cinema from an educational standpoint," he said. ## He noted that "Tamil cinema typically carries messages of what viewers should or should not do, which impacts their commercial success," while stressing that "Tamil directors are not to be compared directly with filmmakers from other regions because their goals are different." ## Meanwhile, ARM's Madharaasi is scheduled to release on September 5. It stars Sivakarthikeyan, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, Shabeer Kallarakkal and Rukmini Vasanth in the lead roles, alongside Prem Kumar, Sanjay and Sachana Namidass. ## Stay tuned...

Director AR Murugadoss Gives a Weird Reason For The Box Office Failure of Salman Khan-fronted Sikandar

Mumbai, July 31 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss returned to Hindi cinema after 9 years with superstar Salman Khan-fronted action drama Sikandar. However, the filmmaker's grand return didn't bring desired results as the film flopped at the box office, finishing under 200 crores gross collection worldwide. ## The film was panned by critics and audiences alike, and now, Murugadoss has come up with a weird and unwanted reason to justify the failure of the movie. During the promotion of his upcoming film Madharaasi, the filmmaker spoke about Sikandar and said that it failed due to the language barrier. ## He revealed that working on Sikandar felt like being at a disadvantage, as he described it as feeling "handicapped" on set due to his inability to understand Hindi fluently, saying he often didn't understand what was happening around him. ## "When we make films in our mother tongue, it gives us strength. We know what is happening here. Today, there's a trend going and suddenly the audience gets connected with that trend. When we shift language, we don't know what the youngsters are enjoying in that language. All we need is a script to believe it", he said. ## He further explained, "For once, I can take up Telugu films, but Hindi may not work for us because after we write the script, they translate it into English. Then it is again translated into Hindi. We can only guess what they are saying, but we are not exactly sure about what is happening. When you make a film in an unknown language and place, it feels like you are handicapped. It is like you don't have hands. I strongly believe our strength depends on where and which culture we come from". ## It is weird that Murugadoss has come up with this silly reason of not understanding Hindi. Before Sikandar, the director previously helmed three Hindi films, and two of them (Ghajini and Holiday) became blockbusters. It proves that his language excuse doesn't fully hold up "” it's more about how prepared and empowered a filmmaker feels in a new environment. ## Stay tuned...

Saiyaara is the 9th biggest Indian grosser of 2025 worldwide. ## Saiyaara to cross 200 crores worldwide in 6 days ## The momentum shows no signs of slowing down as Saiyaara is expected to collect another 20-25 crores gross worldwide on Day 6, which will push its worldwide total past the 200 crores mark. Box Office: 'Sikandar' First Thursday/Fifth Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, April 3 - Superstar Salman Khan's action drama Sikandar gets another hit as it dropped further by around 40% on its first Thursday, after witnessing a drop of 50% on Wednesday, which is a concerning trend.## According to early estimates, the AR Murugadoss directorial movie scored in the range of 5.50-6 crores net collection on the fifth day. With this, the total collection of the film is around 90 crores after 5 days, and the 7-day week is heading towards 100 crores net. ## The movie is likely to hit a century on Saturday, but keep the record of Salman Khan intact post-pandemic, but it is no longer a milestone to brag about for a movie featuring one of the biggest stars of the country. The challenge for the film is to reach 150 crores lifetime total, but even that seems to be a big struggle. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Sikandar' First Wednesday/Fourth Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, April 2 - Superstar Salman Khan's action drama Sikandar has had an underwhelming first three days during the Eid weekend at the domestic box office with around 74.50 crores net collection, and to make things further gloomy, it has witnessed a big drop of around 50% on its first Wednesday. ## According to the early estimates, Sikandar has scored in the range of 9.50-10.50 crores net collection on its 4th day, pushing the total collection to around 84 crores. The drop was expected as word of mouth is poor, and the fact that it was coming after the Holiday weekend. ## The film is likely to enter the 100 crores net club by Friday or Saturday, but that's no longer a milestone to brag about, as the movie is clearly failing to meet the massive expectations the trade had from it. It is now more about reaching a respectable total which will still be a tough ask going forward. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Sikandar' First Tuesday/Third Day Estimates

Mumbai, April 1 - After the underwhelming first two days of around 55 crores net collection, superstar Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna's action drama Sikandar has shown a much better hold than expected on its third day at the domestic box office. ## The AR Murugadoss directorial is showing a drop of around 30% from the Eid day, as early estimates suggest the collection to be in the range of 19-20 crores net on the first Tuesday. It has the benefit of the Basi Eid Holiday today as total collection is around 74 crores after 3 days. ## The audience word of mouth is poor, so there was the fear among the trade that the movie might collapse after Eid day, but the good hold has reignited some hope for the makers.## The real test for Sikandar will begin from Wednesday, though it is now certain to enter the 100 crores club as there is not much competition leading to the second weekend. The lower-than-expected first two days have almost sealed but confirmed the film's fate, but it can still manage to reach a respectable lifetime total by showing similar hold going forward. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Sikandar' Second Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, March 31 - Superstar Salman Khan's action drama Sikandar has some growth on Eid day, but overall collection remains underwhelming. The movie was expected to rock the Eid weekend, but the poor audience reception has made a huge dent in its progress. ## After scoring approximately 26 crores net collection on the first day, which was Sunday, Sikandar witnessed a minimal growth of around 10% on Eid to score an estimated 28-29 crores net, pushing total collection to around 54-55 crores after 2 days. ## The things could have gone extremely wrong had there not been the Eid holiday, which was the main reason for the whatever growth film's scored on its second day. The Eid factor might help the movie in the next couple of days, otherwise, things are not looking good for the film. ## Apart from the little festive advantage, Sikandar has not much competition with new releases, but it might prove beneficial, but it is easier said than done, as audience reception is not favourable. It needs to be seen how it performs going forward. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Sikandar' Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, March 30 - The industry's worst nightmare might be coming to hunt them as superstar Salman Khan's action drama Sikandar has fared below the trade expectations at the domestic box office on its first day, which was Sunday and a day before Eid holiday. ## Sikandar had a decent pre-sales, but it was expected to have a strong response in the spot bookings due to the star power and being a mass entertainer; however, the poor audience reception didn't help its cause. According to early estimates, the movie is expected to open in the range of 25-26 crores net, something the pre-sales trend suggested. ## The first day box office trend of Sikandar is not healthy, especially given the fact that it was a Sunday release, followed by Eid holiday. The final numbers of the first day might go a little higher, depending on the performance in the smaller centres, and also there is a holiday tomorrow, which might give some boost in the night shows, but still, it is an average start. ## Sikandar has to score big tomorrow on Eid to cover the lost ground, and then will have to pray for a miracle that the poor audience reception doesn't come too early to hunt it during the weekdays.## Stay tuned...
