Producer Reacts To Akshaye Khanna's Exit From Drishyam 3 and Confirms His Replacement

Mumbai, December 27 - Akshaye Khanna, who has been riding on the success of Dhurandhar, gave a major shock to the makers of the upcoming suspense thriller Drishyam 3 by exiting the film at the last moment. It was reported that the actor demanded high remuneration, among others, which wasn't met and eventually led the actor to exit the film. Now, Drishyam 3's producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has reacted to the news, and he has blasted Akshaye Khanna for his unprofessional behaviour. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the producer revealed what went on behind the scenes, accusing the actor of making unreasonable demands and stating that he plans to sue him. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) "We had signed an agreement with Akshaye Khanna. His fees also got locked after a lot of renegotiations from his side. He insisted that he would like to wear a wig. But (director) Abhishek Pathak convinced him that it wouldn't be practical, as it would result in continuity issues since Drishyam 3 is a sequel. He understood his point and agreed to let go of that demand. However, the chamchas around him advised him that he would look smarter if he donned a wig. So, he again requested the same. Abhishek relented and was even ready to discuss this point with him. But then, he informed us that he doesn't want to be a part of the film at all", the producer told the portal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Kumar Mangat Pathak further said that he gave Akshaye a chance in Article 375 (2019) and then Drishyam 2 (2022). He said that the actor was nothing before those films, but started getting big projects after the second instalment of the Ajay Devgn-led franchise. He even said that Akshaye liked the script of Drishyam 3 and confidently said that it is a 500 crore film, and signed the film and took the advances, but 10 days before the shoot commenced, he left the movie. The filmmaker also confirmed the casting of Jaideep Ahlawat, who has replaced Akshaye Khanna. Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the movie also stars Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, and Rajat Kapoor in key roles. It is scheduled to release on October 2, 2026. Stay tuned...

Akshaye Khanna Exits Ajay Devgn-fronted Drishyam 3; Reason Revealed

Mumbai, December 26 - One of the hugely-awaited films of 2026, Drishyam 3 faced a major setback after Akshaye Khanna, who has been basking in the back-to-back successes, reportedly exited from the film, leaving the makers in a major dilemma to fill one of the major characters of the franchise. Earlier, it was reported that the creative differences between the actor and makers led the former to back out of the Ajay Devgn-led film. Now, according to the report by Bollywood Hungama, the big remuneration demand turned out to be the main reason behind the actor's exit. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) There is no doubt that Akshaye is enjoying one of the best phases of his career after the big success of Chhaava and Dhurandhar, in which he received huge applause for playing the main antagonist roles. Because of the growing popularity, the actor reportedly demanded 21 crores in fees to feature in Drishyam 3, which took the makers aback. "Akshaye was menacing as the villain in Chhaava, while he stole the show, and how, in Dhurandhar. He has become the next big thing. Realising the same, he decided to revise his fees. Accordingly, he asked for Rs. 21 crores from the makers of Drishyam 3", said the report. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The makers reportedly tried to reason with him that if he's paid a bomb, the film would go over-budget. However, the actor was adamant in his demand as he believes that his presence adds major value to any film. Apart from the remuneration, the report also stated that Akshaye demanded to wear a wig in the film, which the makers rejected as he wasn't without a wig in Drishyam 2. Since the demands were made, Akshaye walked out of the suspense crime thriller film. The exit happened on a good note as the makers hope to collaborate with Akshaye in future when they'll be on the same page. Meanwhile, the shoot of Drishyam 3 has already commenced, and it will be hitting the big screens on October 2, 2026. Stay tuned...

MAJOR UPDATE: Akshaye Khanna Exits Drishyam 3. Success of Dhurandhar Triggers Massive Fee Hike and Creative Stand-Off

In a development that has sent shockwaves through the trade circuits, Akshaye Khanna has reportedly exited the highly anticipated franchise sequel, Drishyam 3. While the Drishyam series is known for its intricate plot twists on screen, the drama behind the scenes is currently grabbing all the headlines. According to reports (Source: BH), the primary reason for this departure is a significant disagreement over remuneration and specific creative preferences. Akshaye Khanna, who received immense acclaim and a massive box office boost following his pivotal role in the 2025 blockbuster Dhurandhar, has reportedly seen his market value skyrocket. Coming off the back of Dhurandhar's record-breaking run, the actor reportedly revised his acting fee to ₹21 Crore for Drishyam 3. Trade sources suggest that the makers (Panorama Studios and Viacom18 Studios) felt the revised fee would push the film's production budget beyond a sustainable limit. While Khanna's performance as IG Tarun Ahlawat in Drishyam 2 was a major highlight, the production team reportedly could not meet the new financial requirements. Beyond the financial aspects, the report indicates that additional creative differences surfaced during pre-production. A specific point of contention was Akshaye Khanna's request to wear a wig for his character in the third installment. The directorial and creative team was reportedly uncomfortable with this change, preferring to maintain the continuity of the character's look established in the previous film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) With Akshaye Khanna's reported exit, the hunt for a new antagonist or a replacement for the investigative officer's role is likely to begin soon. As of now, the confirmed primary cast remains: Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar,Tabu as Meera Deshmukh,Shriya Saran as Nandini Salgaonkarand Rajat Kapoor as Mahesh Deshmukh Drishyam 2 was a humongous success at the domestic box office, netting over ₹240 Crore in India and providing a much-needed boost to the industry post-pandemic. The chemistry and tension between Ajay Devgn and Akshaye Khanna were cited as a driving force for the sequel's repeat footfalls. The loss of Khanna is a creative blow, but the Drishyam brand remains one of the strongest pullers in Indian cinema. Historically, the franchise relies heavily on its screenplay and the Salgaonkar vs. The System trope. As Drishyam 3 moves through its production phase, the primary focus remains on protecting the film's climactic secrets. While trade buzz originally suggested a possible simultaneous release for both the Hindi and Malayalam versions to mitigate spoilers, current industry indications suggest that the Malayalam original starring Mohanlal is progressing on its own timeline, while Ajay Devgn's Hindi version remains firmly locked for its signature October 2, 2026 theatrical window. With Khanna's exit now looming, all eyes are on whether the producers will look for another powerhouse performer to maintain the high intensity face-off that fans have come to expect.

From Animal to Dhurandhar: Sandeep Reddy Vanga Reviews the 214 Minute Spy Epic; Calls it Dominant and Fierce

In a significant nod from one powerhouse filmmaker to another, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the director behind the global blockbusters Animal and Kabir Singh, has showered high praise on Aditya Dhar's latest spy-action thriller, Dhurandhar. Known for his unapologetic style of filmmaking and masculine storytelling, Vanga took to social media to share his thoughts on the film, which has been making waves for its gritty realism and high-octane action. In a tweet that has since gone viral, Sandeep Reddy Vanga described Dhurandhar as a film that carries a masculine spine and moves with dominance and fierce. Vanga, whose own film Animal redefined the landscape of A-rated Indian cinema, lauded the film's clarity and lack of chaos, stating: DHURANDHAR is built like a man who doesn't talk much & carries a masculine spine.... The title fits because the film moves with dominance and fierce. The depiction is very clear with zero chaos. Music, performances, screenplay & direction are on the top. He specifically highlighted the performances of the leads, noting that Akshaye Khanna and Ranveer Singh erased into air and just disappeared into characters effortlessly. He concluded by thanking director Aditya Dhar for allowing audiences to experience the true weight of untold sacrifices. Music, performances, screenplay & direction are on the top. #AkshayKhanna"¦— Sandeep Reddy Vanga (@imvangasandeep) December 20, 2025 The association between Animal and Dhurandhar started long before Vanga's review. When the first trailers for Dhurandhar dropped, cinephiles quickly drew parallels between the two. Epic Runtimes: Much like Animal's 3-hour-21-minute odyssey, Dhurandhar boasts a massive runtime of 214 minutes (3 hours and 34 minutes). The A Factor: Both films received an Adult (A) certificate from the CBFC for their raw violence and intense themes. Hyper-Masculinity: While Animal focused on a volatile father-son dynamic, Dhurandhar applies a similar hyper-masculine lens to the world of international espionage and RAW operations. Dhurandhar has officially cemented its status as a Box Office Monster. After completing its first 14 days in theaters, the film has shown incredible holding power, particularly in the mass circuits. As of the end of its second week, the film's domestic performance is record-breaking, with an India Net Collection of ₹460.5 Cr and an India Gross Collection of ₹552.5 Cr. Its dominance isn't limited to the home turf; the film has raked in ₹158 Cr from Overseas markets, bringing its total Worldwide Collection to a staggering ₹710.5 Cr. While Dhurandhar initially trailed slightly behind Animal's historic opening weekend, its masculine spine and strong word-of-mouth have given it extraordinary legs. Heading into its third week, the momentum remains red-hot. Early estimates for Day 15 (2nd Friday) suggest a collection of ₹22.50 Cr, indicating that the film is poised for a massive third weekend that could see it challenging Animal's lifetime worldwide gross of ₹915 Cr.

Ram Gopal Varma Hails Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar as a Quantum Leap In Indian Cinema

Mumbai, December 19 - Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has heaped high praise for director Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar, calling the Ranveer Singh"“led film nothing less than a "quantum leap in Indian cinema." In a long post, RGV stated that Dhurandhar is not merely a film, but a transformative cinematic event that has the power to change the future of Indian cinema across both the North and South industries. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to Varma, Aditya Dhar has "completely and single-handedly" altered the cinematic landscape with Dhurandhar. He emphasised that the film's achievement goes far beyond scale, delivering a vision that is experienced not only visually, but psychologically. In his words, Dhar does not simply direct scenes - he engineers states of mind, immersing both characters and audiences into the film's world. The Satya director noted that Dhurandhar does not request the audience's attention, but commands it. From its very first shot, the film establishes an irreversible momentum, transforming viewers from passive spectators into accomplices to the unfolding events on screen. He described the film as unapologetically aggressive, refusing to be polite or comforting in its storytelling. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Praising the writing and staging, RGV said the screenplay cuts with precision, while the film's silences are as lethal as its thunderous sound design. He highlighted Dhar's mastery over narrative pressure, explaining that the power of Dhurandhar lies not in loudness, but in the gradual compression of tension - like a coiled spring that snaps with operatic brutality. On performances, Varma pointed out that the characters are not designed to be liked, but to linger long after the audience leaves the theatre. He applauded the film's confidence in trusting viewers to read emotional scars without spoon-feeding backstories, calling this belief in the audience's intelligence the highest respect a filmmaker can show - and a defining trait that separates Dhurandhar from conventional mainstream cinema. DHURANDHAR is not a film , it is a QUANTUM LEAP in INDIAN CINEMA I believe that @AdityaDharFilms has completely and single handedly changed the future of Indian cinema , be it north or south ..That"™s because Duradhar is not just a film.. it is a quantum leap What Dhurandhar"¦— Ram Gopal Varma (@RGVzoomin) December 19, 2025 Starring Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R.
