Bollywood Box Office Report: 2021

Mumbai, Jan 7, 2022: The cinemas remained shut for most of 2021 due to Covid 19 but things were back to normal with the release of Sooryavanshi on Diwali 2021. There was a total of 73 films released in 2021 and 32 of them were theatrical releases. Those 32 films have contributed around 550cr collections at the box office which is a fair result as there is something in the bag rather than nothing. These 32 films also include the dubbed version of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise. ## The Biggest plus of the year was the business of Sooryavanshi and dubbed version collections of Pushpa. Released on Diwali, The Akshay Kumar fronted Sooryavanshi was the first film that brought back the audience to the theatres in a big way if we ignore the dubbed version of Pushpa which is a non-Hindi film. With collections of around 196cr - Sooryavanshi has become the Biggest Grosser of the Hindi film industry. ## After Sooryavanshi, the only other film which did decent business was Salman Khan and Ayush Sharma starrer Antim: The Final Truth with collections of around 40 Cr. After this, there was a Tadap that had done okayish business with 26cr collections. Tadap was the launch of Suniel Shetty Son Ahan Shetty and according to that, the business is decent. ## The Biggest disappointments of the year were the rejection of big films like Satyamev Jayate2, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, and 83. While John Abraham starrer Satyamev Jayate2 was expected to put big box office figures as the first part was a huge hit, Ayushman Khurrana's Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui was expected to draw a premium multiplex audience due to its premise but both the films have failed to live onto the expectations. The big Xmas event film of the year starring Ranveer Singh - "83" was expected to challenge the numbers of Sooryavanshi but the film has failed to do that with just 95cr collections till now and nothing is coming from the theatres now as the cinemas across many states got shut. ## There were some Hindi films which released in February and March like Mumbai Saga And Roohi. The Total collections of Sooryavanshi now stand at 195.22 Cr plus and the film is looking to finish its theatrical run at around 196 Cr. ## The 2nd film which did well theatrically post the release of Sooryavanshi was Antim: The Final Truth starring Ayush Sharma and supported by the much-hyped extended cameo of Salman Khan. The film had seen good first weekend collections and just like Sooryavanshi, the reports were good for Antim too. As a result, Antim had seen healthy collections over weekdays to give a total of 39.40cr till now. Antim will finish its theatrical run at 40 Cr. The film has emerged as a successful film in trade terms. ## The 3rd film which had done well was Tadap which was the debut film of Suniel Shetty's Son Ahan Shetty. The music of the film was well-received and despite the new face, the film got good footfalls in its theatrical run. The total collections of the film now stand at 26.81 Cr and the film will end its theatrical run at 28cr. ## The Two films that didn't perform as expected were Satyamev Jayate2 starring John Abraham and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui starring Ayushman Khurana. Sajid Nadiadwala Hosts Success Party For Tadap

Mumbai, Dec 13, 2021: Tadap was released two weeks ago and had a decent first day, first weekend, and first week of business. Tadap was the launch of Suniel Shetty's son Ahan Shetty and the audience had appreciated his talent whole-heartedly. The film is looking to finish its theatrical run around 28-30cr net collections depending upon the holds of the film in the third week. ## The action-packed love story has been getting an immense amount of love from the audience. Now, to celebrate the success of Tadap the entire cast of the film hosted a success party. The present would be Ahan Shetty, Tara Sutaria, Sunil Shetty, director Milan Lutharia, Sajid Nadiadwala and Warda Nadiadwala hosted a success party for the film. The event was hosted on December 12 at Sajid Nadiadwala"™s house. ## Tadap is a remake of the 2018 Telugu romantic-action drama RX 100.
