Ali Abbas Zafar Returns To YRF For The Upcoming Films

Mumbai, August 30 - Blockbuster director Ali Abbas Zafar is returning to Yash Raj Films to direct some of the biggest films upcoming films from the studio, reports Variety. ## The Sultan director made his directorial debut with YRF's romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, starring Katrina Kaif, Imran Khan and Ali Zafar in 2011. He followed this with Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor's Gunday (2014) for the studio. ## Zafar got his biggest breakthrough under YRF in 2016 when he directed superstar Salman Khan's sports drama Sultan which is his highest-grossing film to date. A year later in 2017, the filmmaker reunited with Salman for another blockbuster, Tiger Zinda Hai, the second instalment of YRF's popular spy universe franchise created by YRF head Aditya Chopra. ## After making his first 4 directorial ventures for Yash Raj Films, Abbas Zafar reunited with the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star for the third time for Bharat (2019) which was the filmmaker's first movie outside YRF, before he directed 2 OTT films - Jogi (2022) and Bloody Daddy (2023). ## After scoring big success with all his theatrical films, Ali had a rare misfire earlier this year in the form of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's Bade Miyan Chote Miyan which bombed at the box office. Now, after nearly 7 years, the successful filmmaker is making his way back to YRF where he scored a couple of his biggest blockbusters.## It is not yet clear which upcoming YRF projects Ali will direct and the report says it will be original theatrical tentpole titles. Written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, BMCM is an out-and-out action entertainer with some comic moments.## "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" is touted to be the biggest action film in Bollywood produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Jackky Bhagnani, Himanshu Kishan Mehra, and Ali Abbas Zafar under the banners of Pooja Entertainment and AAZ films. Ali Abbas Zafar To Co-Produce and Direct Hindi Remake of 'The Transporter'

Mumbai, July 16 - A few weeks ago, it was reported that filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar has acquired the Hindi remake rights of Jason Statham-fronted Hollywood actioner The Transporter (2002). And now, as per the latest reports, Ali will also direct this big-budget flick. ## It is said that Ali has been wanting to make the Hindi remake of this English-language French action thriller and bought the rights from EuropaCorp some two months ago. Apart from directing the movie, Ali will co-produce it with Vishal Rana and a big studio is expected to collaborate as well, according to ETimes. ## The original starred Jason Statham as Frank Martin, a driver for hire—a mercenary "transporter" who will deliver anything, anywhere, no questions asked—for the right price. It also starred Shu Qi as Lai Kwai.## Ali Zafar is currently busy with the pre-production work of "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan" starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. It will go on floors in January next year. Once Ali is done with BMCM, he will start working on "The Transporter" and is likely to bring a young actor to play the lead role. ## Meanwhile, the filmmaker already has a film with Shahid Kapoor ready to release. It is an action thriller, tentatively titled "Bloody Daddy", and marks Shahid and Ali's maiden collaboration.
