Amazon Prime Video Bags Streaming Rights of Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1 in a Landmark 125 Crore Price

Bengaluru, September 10 - Kannada star Rishab Shetty's folk action thriller Kantara: Chapter 1 is gearing up for a grand worldwide release on October 2nd, amid huge anticipation. Serving as the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster, the upcoming saga has been mounted on a far bigger scale and budget, with the makers leaving no stone unturned to deliver a larger-than-life cinematic spectacle. As the release date of the film approaches, the makers have partnered with top distribution studios for a grand worldwide release. Apart from theatrical ambitions, the film's post-theatrical deal has also been locked in one of the all-time biggest prices for a South Indian film. According to a report by Pinkvilla, Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Kantara: Chapter 1 for a staggering 125 crore for all languages. This is said to be the second-biggest streaming deal for a Kannada film after KGF: Chapter 2 and positions it among the costliest digital acquisitions for any South Indian title to date. This is a groundbreaking streaming deal for a Kannada film, which is possibly the biggest Pan-India movie after KGF: Chapter 2. Chennai, September 4 - Superstar Rajinikanth"™s much-awaited gangster action drama Coolie is set to make its digital debut earlier than anticipated following its underwhelming box office performance. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film hit theatres on August 14, ahead of the Independence Day holiday. On Thursday (September 4), the makers officially confirmed the post-theatrical digital release. Coolie will begin streaming on Amazon Prime Video from September 11, just four weeks after its theatrical release, in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. Trade believes that this is one of the main reasons footfalls have reduced in cinemas, especially for mid-size films, as there is a section of audience which is ready to wait for 8 weeks to watch them for 'free', which was not the case before Covid-19. ## This is something Aamir wants to change, and he is leading by example by not selling OTT rights of Sitaare Zameen Par, and has vowed to do the same with his upcoming movies. OTT Platforms To Blame For Singham Again and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Clash

Mumbai, November 8 - It was recently reported how the OTT platforms have been controlling the theatrical releases of Bollywood films by signing pre-contracts for the streaming release, and this practice has been admitted by producer Bhushan Kumar whose Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 made to clash with director Rohit Shetty's Singham Again. ## The box office clash between BB3 and Singham Again didn't make sense as both films were hugely anticipated and were seen as potential blockbusters. While both movies are doing well at the box office, one must admit that their overall potential was cut short by the unwanted clash due to their streaming partners. ## Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series said in an interview with Bollywood Hungama that both parties attempted to avoid the clash as both franchises are highly valuable and hold significant audiences. However, despite the intention to not release the movies on the same day, Kumar admitted that contractual constraints with OTT platforms and creative factors made it unavoidable. ## "Nowadays, there are some constraints, like pre-commitments with OTT platforms. If you try to change those dates, the OTT platform doesn't allow it. That was our constraint, and they probably had similar ones", the filmmaker said. BB3 post-theatrical rights are with Netflix while Amazon Prime Video has Singham 3. ## Kumar, however, expressed satisfaction over the fact that both movies are performing well against the odds. "So it's okay as long as our film is getting so much love. And it has done enough business that the film is now safe", he added. ## Released during the lucrative Diwali weekend, Singham Again has scored a very good opening week of over 200 crores gross in India and over 250 crores worldwide. Mumbai, July 20 - The third season of Amazon Prime Video's rural comedy-drama Panchayat emerged as the most-watched Hindi show in the first half of 2024, beating big-budgeted shows like Heeramandi, and Indian Police Force.## According to Ormax Media, Panchyat Season 3 has generated 28.20 million views, becoming the most-watched Hindi language web series across streaming platforms in the first six months of 2024.
