'Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga' Worldwide Box Office Projection Revealed

Mumbai, May 22 - Warner Bros. Pictures' much-anticipated post-apocalyptic action adventure film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is hitting theatres on May 23 and it will be looking to bring in some joy at the box office, not just domestically but also worldwide. ## The Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth-starrer is both a reboot of the Mad Max franchise and a prequel. According to Deadline, Furiosa is tracking to earn $80 million - $85 million in its worldwide opening weekend, starting on Wednesday (May 22). ## As reported previously is projected to earn $40+ million in its 4-day domestic (North America) opening weekend while overseas, it is tracking $40 million - $45 million. The movie is carrying a budget of $160 million and is certified fresh at Rotten Tomatoes with an 85% critics' score. ## Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), starring Charlize Theron, opened at $45.4 million domestically so the projection of Furiosa is very much on the lines of the original movie. ## In India, Furiosa is expected to have a much better outcome than the original movie which grossed approximately 15 crores in its lifetime run. Los Angeles, May 4 - Warner Bros. Pictures' post-apocalyptic action adventure film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is ready to roll its arm at the box office coming 24 May. The prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) could be a winner as per the early box office projection. ## According to Deadline, Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth-fronted blockbuster is tracking to earn $40 million - $50 million over the 4-day domestic opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. The report says that it could edge out Sony/Alcon Entertainment's animated Garfield which is tracking a $35 million opening in the same weekend. ## Deadline reports that Furiosa has the benefit of being an Imax and PLFs and a Cannes Film Festival world premiere as a global loudspeaker which gives it a shot at $40+ million start from earlier projection of $30+ million, same as Garfield. ## Directed by George Miller, Furiosa could also turn into a surprise winner at the Indian box office. Mumbai, March 1 - Chris Hemsworth, who usually plays a dashing, charming protagonist, is all set to headline the prequel of "Mad Max: Fury Road" as the main villain against Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa as "Mad Max: Furiosa". ## While "Mad Max: Furiosa" is still far away from its debut in theaters, with plans to premiere in 2024, in the book titled Blood, Sweat & Chrome: The Wild and True Story of Mad Max: Fury Road', it is revealed that Thor star will be facing off Furiosa as primary baddie in the upcoming prequel (via Slash Film).## "Mad Max" has been a popular Australian film franchise though the last film in the series "Mad Max: Fury Road" didn't work out at the box office as The Hollywood Reporter calculated that the loss incurred by the film was around $20–40 million. Mumbai, September 12, 2021: The wait for the prequel of the 2015 Australian post-apocalyptic action film "Mad Max: Fury Road" - "Furiosa" is getting longer than expected. The much-awaited prequel isn't coming to theaters anytime soon as it has been delayed by a year to May 24, 2024, by Warner Bros. ## Touted to be Australia's biggest production ever, the spin-off was originally slated for June 2023 release with George Miller is returning to write and direct the film. The production of "Furiosa" will cost at least $350M AUD into the local economy and is expected to create 850 jobs. The filming is expected to begin next year in New South Wales and it will be produced by George Miller and Doug Mitchell. ## Anya Taylor-Joy, the "The Queen's Gambit" star, will be playing the title role of Imperator Furiosa in the prequel, instead of Charlize Theron who originated this role in "Fury Road". The prequel will also star Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in prominent roles.## "Mad Max: Fury Road" is one of the most celebrated films at the Oscars.
