The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) refers to uniform nomenclature of seven security forces in India under the authority of Ministry of Home Affairs. ## Officers in CAPFs are recruited through Central Armed Police Forces (Assistant Commandants) Examination conducted by UPSC. They are appointed as Assistant Commandants and are Gazetted Officers generally referred as DAGOs (Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers). ## Assistant commandants in the Central Armed Police Forces are appointed through UPSC selection process and are called Directly Appointed Gazetted Officers (DAGOs). ## The rank of Assistant Commandant is equivalent to Assistant Commissioner of police/Deputy Superintendent of police/ Captain in the Indian army. This rank is a group-A gazetted officer rank in the Central Armed Police Forces of India.
