Los Angeles, July 8 - Director James Gunn's Superman movie is officially flying into theatres this upcoming weekend, on July 11, kicking off with a lot of expectations as far as the future of DC films is concerned. Los Angeles, August 21 - DC Studios' latest superhero movie "Blue Beetle" has a lower opening than expected at the domestic (North America) box office. The movie, however, dethroned Margot Robbie's mega-blockbuster " Barbie" to claim the number 1 spot during the weekend of August 18-20.## "Blue Beetle" scored $25.4 million in its opening weekend, which is the second lowest opening in the modern DC era, ahead of just "Wonder Woman 1984" ($16.7 million) which had a debacle day and date release on HBO Max during the peak of covid-19 pandemic in December 2020.## Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, "Blue Beetle" was expected to project to score $30 million which would have still made it the lowest DC starter in 2023, behind "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" which grossed $30.1 million earlier this year.## At the international box office, "Blue Beetle" starring Xolo Maridueña as the alien symbiote, added $18 million from 63 markets. With $43 million globally, it's one of the softest starts in the history of the DC Cinematic Universe. Los Angeles, August 8 - Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studio will look to put the recent box office failures as the studios are gearing up for the next DC Superhero movie "Blue Beetle" on August 18. The movie was once considered for direct digital release, but things got changed after many at Warner Bros. believed it could turn out to be a potential box office blockbuster.## The box office prospects of the movie are also looking brighter as compared to what it was tracking nearly a month ago. Mumbai, June 18 - Warner Bros. and DC Studios superhero flick The Flash couldn't generate speed at the box office as it scored a low opening weekend worldwide, extending the DC Extended Universe's woes. ## Warner Bros. left no stone unturned to hype up "The Flash" as one of the greatest superhero movies of all time but the movie failed to live up to those sky-high expectations. It grossed just $55 million over a 3-day opening weekend domestically (North America). ## "The Flash" opened lower than Dwayne Johnson's "Black Adam" ($67 million) late last year, making it one of the worst openings for a DCEU movie. It even opened below studios' already conservative $70M-$75M 3-day expectations.## At the international box office, "The Flash" scored $75 million over 68 markets for a $130 million global start. China was the biggest overseas market for the film with $13.8 million, followed by Mexico and the UK with $9.4 million and $5.3 million, respectively. ## Meanwhile, in India, the Ezra Miller-fronted flick grossed around 20.50 crores ($2.5 million) over a 4-day opening weekend in all languages.
