Box Office: 'How To Train Your Dragon', 'Ballerina' And 'Materialists' Opening Weekend Collection

Mumbai, June 16 - There were three new Hollywood releases this past weekend at the Indian box office. Despite the competition with Indian titles, all three films, which include "How To Train Your Dragon", "Ballerina", and "Materialists", did decent business in the opening weekend. ## How To Train Your Dragon, which is the live-action remake of the 2010 animated film, was the top Hollywood grosser among all the films. It took a decent opening of an estimated 2.60 crores gross before jumping over the weekend to collect an estimated 12.75 crores gross in 3 days in India in all versions. ## The word of mouth for HTTYD is positive, which should help the movie to continue doing steady business, though the competition will intensify once Aamir Khan's "Sitaare Zameen Par" arrives on June 20. The film will be looking to finish with 30+ crores gross, which is a good result. ## And de Armes' action thriller Ballerina, the spin-off of the John Wick franchise, grossed approximately 8.25 crores in the opening weekend. It is a decent result for the film, given its A-rated content and strong competition. It needs to be seen how the film performs in the coming days, as word of mouth is mixed. ## There is this romantic comedy Materialists, featuring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, which was the biggest gainer in terms of showing growth. After opening to around 70 lakh gross collection on the first day, the movie scored 100% growth on Saturday, followed by a solid hold on Sunday with collection the same as the previous day, grossing approximately 3.60 crores in three days in India. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Madame Web Scored Record Low Opening Weekend For Sony's Spider-Man Movie

Los Angeles, February 20 - Dakota Johnson-led superhero movie Madame Web has hit an unwanted box office record for Sony's Spider-Man movie.## Spidey's spin-off film generated $17.6 million over the traditional weekend and $26.2 million during the same six-day period at the domestic (North American) box office, opening second place (according to Variety). It is the first Marvel-based movie since 2015's Fantastic Four which opened at $25.6 million. ## Madame Web is now officially the worst Spider-Man or its spin-off title in the franchise's 22-year history. The movie grossed approximately 4 crores ($480K) in India on its 3-day weekend which is very poor for the genre loved by the audiences. ## Stay tuned...

Dakota Johnson Set To Play First Female Superhero 'Madame Web' In Sony Pictures' Universe Of Marvel Characters

Mumbai, February 3 - Sony Pictures just produced its biggest blockbuster in the form of "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and is now, expanding its Universe of Marvel Characters by bringing the first female superhero in the helm. ## According to Deadline, actress Dakota Johnson, known for her roles in "Fifty Shades of Grey" and "The Social Network" is in talks to star in the studio's "Madame Web" movie. The movie will be directed by S.J. Clarkson, known for "The Defenders", "Life on Mars" while Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have penned the screenplay.## In the comics, Madame Web is depicted as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis and thus was connected to a life support system that looked like a spider web. The studio has been searing for the A-listers to play the title role in the film for the last two months and the list has been cut down with Johnson gaining front-runner status right before the holiday. ## Stay tuned...
