Dharma Productions 'Homebound' Selected As India's Official Oscars 2026 Entry; What Is This Film About?

Mumbai, September 19 - Dharma Productions' upcoming drama film Homebound, directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, has been selected as India's official entry for the Oscars 2026. The movie will compete in the Best International Feature category at the 98th Academy Awards, slated to take place on March 26, 2026. Starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor in the leading roles, the movie follows two childhood friends from a small village in North India who dream of becoming police officers, hoping the job will bring them the respect they never had. However, as they come closer to their goal, pressure and struggles create problems in their friendship. Produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra under the banner of Dharma Productions, Homebound is based on a New York Times article by Basharat Peer from 2020. The film had its premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in Un Certain Regard on 21 May 2025. Mumbai, April 22 - Bollywood heartthrob Kartik Aaryan has reunited with Karan Johar's Dharma Production for a creature comedy Naagzilla. The movie has been in the news for the past few weeks, and the makers officially confirmed it with the first look poster and release date. ## Naagzilla will be directed by the Fukrey director, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and it will hit the big screen on August 14, 2026, ahead of Independence Day and Nag Panchami. Dharma Productions 'Dhadak 2' Release Date Postponed

Mumbai, October 14 - Dharma Productions' love story drama Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri has reportedly been postponed to the next year. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the movie is a spiritual sequel to Dhadak (2018), starring Ishaan Khatter, and Janhvi Kapoor. ## Dhadak 2, which is said to be a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal (2018), was announced on November 22, 2024, release. According to Bollywood Hungama, it has now been postponed and the producers are looking at releasing the film on February 21, 2025.## Subject to the official announcement, Dhadak 2 will clash with Ajay Devgn's Raid 2 which is already confirmed for February 21, 2025, release. Dharma Productions To Stop Pre-Release Media Screenings of Its Future Movies

Mumbai, October 7 - Filmmaker Karan Johar's Dharma Productions announced on Monday that it will stop pre-release screenings of its future movies. The studio, like many others, used to host media screenings a day or two before the release dates. ## Describing this decision as a crucial measure to preserve the excitement surrounding the movie-going experience, Dharma said in a statement shared with the media, "This decision has been difficult to make, however, we believe it's a necessary step in ensuring that every viewer, including our friends in the media, witness our stories as they were meant to be experienced".## "We believe it will help in maintaining the excitement of the cinematic experience for all", the statement reads. The studio, however, is not entirely stopping the media screening as it confirmed in the statement that going forward, the press screening of each movie will now be hosted in the first half of the release day. ## "We warmly welcome all media personnel to join us at these screenings, where you will be the first to witness our latest offerings. Dharma Productions' Clarifies On The Rumours of 'Kill' Remake

Mumbai, July 16 - Producer Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has issued an official statement on the recent speculations about the remake rights of its action thriller Kill which is currently playing in theatres and doing decent business.## Directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat, Kill was announced to be remade in Hollywood by John Wick director Chad Stahelski even before the film's official release in India on July 5. Mumbai, April 17 - A sequel to Dharma Productions' hit romantic film Dhadak is reportedly in the works with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tripti Dimri in the lead. It will be directed by debutante Shazia Iqbal, who has been working as a Production Designer for thirteen years in the Indian Film & Advertising Industry. ## Directed by Shashank Khaitan, "Dhadak", which was a remake of the Marathi movie "Sairat", was released in 2018 and marked the debut of Ishaan Khattar and Janhvi Kapoor.
