Mumbai, September 20 - 20th Century Studios' sci-fi horror thriller Alien: Romulus has scripted a box office history to become the highest-grossing horror movie of all time in IMAX. ## Directed by Fede Álvarez, the 7th movie in the Alien franchise has so far grossed over $40 million in IMAX format since its debut in mid-August 2024, making it the biggest horror grosser in this premium format.## Alien: Romulus is going strong and recently crossed $300 million at the worldwide box office. The movie has so far grossed approximately $332 million, becoming the highest-grossing horror movie of the year. Los Angeles, August 18 - 20th Century Studios' science fiction horror Alien: Romulus off to the global opening of over $100 million, against the production budget of $80 million. This is an excellent start for a movie which was supposed to go directly for digital release before the change in plans.## Set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), Romulus opened at number 1 this weekend at the domestic (North America) box office, grossing a strong $41.5 million (350 crores). This is the second biggest opening weekend start in the 7 films Alien franchise. ## At the Overseas box office, the Fede Álvarez's directorial collected $66.7 million (560 crores) for the worldwide opening weekend of $108.2 million (910 crores). Mumbai, August 5 - 20th Century Studios' science fiction horror film Alien: Romulus has averted a mega Independence Day 2024 clash and it will now be released a week later than its domestic (North America) release which is August 16.## Directed by Fede Álvarez, Alien: Romulus, which is the seventh instalment in the Alien franchise, will be released on August 23 in English, Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, languages at the Indian box office. Earlier, it was supposed to be released with Stree 2, Khel Khel Mein, Vedaa, Thangalaan, and Double iSmart on August 15.## Alien: Romulus serves as a standalone interquel set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). Pictures' horror thriller Evil Dead Rise, which was almost landed directly on streaming, has become the highest-grossing film in the Evil Dead franchise at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office. ## The fifth installment in the series, "Evil Dead Rise" has crossed the $100 million mark at the worldwide box office, surpassing the lifetime total of $97.50 million of the 4th film "Evil Dead" which was released in 2013. The total worldwide cume of the film reached $114.80 million, including $60.70 million internationally through the third weekend.## The Lee Cronin-directed film is projected to reach $54+ million at the domestic (North America) box office by 3rd Sunday and is likely to top fourth "Evil Dead's" lifetime domestic haul of $54.20 million to become the biggest film in the series domestically as well. ## The original "Evil Dead" was directed by Sam Raimi in 1981, and earned $2.90 million worldwide. Raimi went on to make "Evil Dead 2" in 1987, which earned $5.90 million worldwide, and "Army of Darkness" in 1992, which made $11.50 million, before Fede Álvarez directed the 4th installment. ## Interestingly, "Evil Dead Rise" has emerged as a surprise blockbuster in India with an estimated gross total of $4 million through the 3rd Sunday. A New 'Alien' Film In The Works With 'Don't Breathe' Director Fede Álvarez

Mumbai, March 6 - The fans of one of the popular sci-fi horror film franchises, "Alien", have reasons to rejoice as a new film is under development in the series, which will be written and directed by "Don't Breathe" and 2013's remake of "Evil Dead" fame Fede Álvarez who is himself a big fan of the franchise. ## There have been four movies in the original "Alien" series along with two crossover films and two prequel movies. The last "Alien" movie was released in 2017 in the form of a prequel titled "Alien: Covenant". ## The new movie, meanwhile, is intended to be made for Hulu as part of the 20th Century's ambitions to make more than 10 movies a year for the Disney-operated streaming service, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The upcoming movie will be produced by Ridley Scott, who directed the original sci-fi horror movie released in 1979 and returned for two 21st century installments, under his Scott Free production banner. ## Alien and its many sequels and prequels focus on the horror of a ferocious race of alien beings called Xenomorphs, who implant eggs inside living bodies via "facehuggers" that violently burst out of chests when they reach a certain stage of maturity.## The new movie in the film series, however, will be different from the previous movies and will follow a premise that is different from the narrative of the three 'Alien' films.
