Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani's '3 Idiots' Hold Max Franchise Potential In Bollywood: Report

Mumbai, December 14 - The franchise-based films are taking centre stage in Bollywood and there are several films in different franchises that are currently in development, including Hera Pheri, Welcome, Drishyam, and Gadar, among others. ## According to Ormax Media, a media consulting firm, the contribution of franchise films to the Hindi theatrical domestic box office has grown from a mere 17% in 2019 to 45% in 2023, and franchise films are expected to have a huge contribution to the box office in the future. (via mediabrief)## Ormax Media, in its new report 'The Bollywood Franchise Report: 2023', identifies the Top 100 Hindi film franchises (current & potential), based on audience equity. According to the report, superstar Aamir Khan's "3 Idiot" has the highest potential at the box office if it turns into a franchise.## Films released between January 1990 to September 2023 were assessed in the report which is the result of a survey conducted amongst 3,000 regular Hindi film-goers across India, in Oct-Nov 2023. Buzz: Akshay Kumar To Announce 'Rowdy Rathore 2' Or 'Hera Pheri 3' On His 55th Birthday?

Mumbai, August 26 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar will be celebrating his 55th birthday on September 9, 2022. It hasn't been a great year for Khiladi Kumar so far but he would love to enter the 55th year of his life with a blockbuster in the form of Cuttputli, which is scheduled to premiere on September 2 on Disney Plus Hotstar. ## Though Akshay hasn't been able to create magic through his movies this year the future is looking brighter than ever with potential blockbusters in his hands. Vijayendra Prasad confirmed last year that he was writing the script for the sequel and would complete it soon. ## The excitement of the fans peaked when Akshay Kumar was recently captured in his Rowdy Rathore look and the buzz is that the movie might be announced on his birthday in the next couple of weeks. Mumbai, June 24 - Producer Firoz Nadiadwala has confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 is in the development with the Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal, and the announcement for the same will be made soon. The producer in the same interview also teased a blockbuster crossover between Hera Pheri and Welcome. ## According to reports, producer Firoz Nadiadwala had attempted to make a crossover film almost a decade ago, with his two iconic films - Hera Pheri and Welcome. Producer Nadiadwala in an interview with Bollywood Hungama has confirmed the same without going into details. ## "Yes, and I don't want to go into details. However, for a crossover, the characters have to be like that. They should be lovable and only then does it work. Fortunately, we have had lovable characters in our films like Uday, Majnu, Baburao, Raju, Shyam", he said. ## When asked if the Welcome-Hera Pheri crossover film be made in the future, Nidadwala said, "Yes, and that too in a big way. The goings-on in the narrative will be justified, with common sense and logic in place. But as I said before, you can attempt crossover only when you have the characters. Mumbai, March 31 (IANS) Priyadarshan's iconic comedy "Hera Pheri" was released 20 years ago on this date, and the film has gone on to be regarded as a cult entertainer among Bollywood buffs.## The film starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal as three goodnatured men struggling in life, who get rich thanks to a freak twist of fate involving a wrong telephone number and a sinister kidnapping gone haywire.
