He then reprised the role in multiple films, including "Iron Man 2" (2010), "Iron Man 3" (2014), "Captain America: Civil War" (2016), "Spider-Man: Homecoming", and 4 Avengers movies from 2012 to 2019. ## The actor was reportedly paid approx. $50 million for "The Avengers" (2012) and topped Forbes' yearly list of highest-paid actors as he was paid $75 million in 2013 and 2014. In 2018, RDJ earned approx. $81 million by playing Iron Man in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Avengers: Infinity War". ## "Avengers: Endgame" (2019), which was RDJ's last film as Iron Man, generated $75 million for him. As per reports, the Hollywood superstar made approx. $435 million in 11 years of playing Iron Man in the MCU. Los Angeles, April 27, 2021: Robert Downey Jr. who played the iconic character of Tony Stark aka Iron Man, treated his fans with a behind the scene (BTS) video as Avengers: Endgame completes two years from its release. The movie that was released on April 26, 2019, proved to be the last outing for Iron Man as he got killed in order to save the world. ## Taking to his Twitter handle, Downey Jr. wrote, "Cannot believe it's been two years since Endgame... #LoveYouAll3000". Upon the release of this film, it set the world box office on fire and became the highest grosser movie of all time with $ 2.789 billion but was dethroned from the No. 1 spot after James Cameron's 'Avatar' re-released in theatres in China after covid-19 restrictions were eased. ## Marvel is now set to roll out Phase 4 of the MCU with Scarlett Johansson's 'Black Widow', followed by films like "Spider-Man: No Way Home", "Thor: Love and Thunder", "Captain Marvel 2" among many others. Downey Jr. had also said in an interview that, "I had an incredible 10-year run that was creatively satisfying. I've done all I could with that character and can do other things now. Now, being middle-aged, you start looking at the back nine and realize this is all part of the journey, and things end.
