Los Angeles, October 16 - Michael Caine, a British actor, and two-time Academy Award winner, is putting a brake on his legendary 70-year old film career. The 88-year old said in an interview broadcast Friday that the newly-released "Best Sellers" is the last film he has acted. ## "Because I haven't worked for two years, and I have a spine problem which affects my legs so I can't walk very well, so...", he told BBC radio host Simon Mayo. "And I also wrote a book, a couple of books, which were published and were successful, so I'm now not an actor, I'm a writer, which is lovely because as an actor you have to get up at half-past six in the morning and go to the studio. As a writer, you can start writing without leaving the bed". ## Caine, in his decades-long film and tv career, worked over 170 films including "The Dark Knight" trilogy. He got nominated for Oscars six times and went on to win on two occasions for roles in 1986's "Hannah and Her Sisters" and 1999's "The Cider House Rules". ## The frequent collaborator of Nolan's film, Caine most recently appeared opposite John David Washington and Robert Pattinson in the Nolan directed Tenet and Martin Owen's Twist. When asked if the Aubrey Plaza co-starring Best Sellers is his final film, Caine answered, "I think it would be".## "I don't have any — there haven't been any offers, obviously, for two years, because nobody's been making any movies I'd want to do", Caine said of the COVID-19 pandemic. "But also, I'm 88. One of the leading streaming platforms, Netflix is ensuring that during this covid-19 pandemic, people won't have to step out since they are bringing high-level content on its platform. And now, the streaming giant is all set to take one step ahead by bringing some of the biggest stars of Hollywood in 2021. ## On Tuesday (January 12), Netflix, with a promise to bring "a new movie every week", announced the titles that will be premiering on the streaming service in 2021. The streamer shared the news on its official Twitter page in a video featuring some of the stars attached to these projects.## The titles include action movie "Red Notice", starring Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne Johnson along with Zack Snyder's zombie film "Army of the Dead", political satire "Don't Look Up", featuring Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, and musical "Tik, Tik… Boom!" which is Lin Manuel Miranda's directorial debut, among others. The list also includes acquisitions like Halle Berry's directorial debut "Bruised" and "Malcolm & Marie", starring Zendaya and John David Washington.## The line-up also comprises the third chapters of the hit Netflix franchises — "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" and "The Kissing Booth". According to The Hollywood Reporter, the streamer's current 2021 originals slate consists of 70 titles – including one trilogy, with the RL Stine adaptation "Fear Street". According to the #ShowOfTheYear2020 report by BookMyShow, cinemas have sold an estimated seven lakh tickets since reopening after the Covid-induced lockdown.## There has been a steady increase in screens across cinemas pan-India, with 2800 screens operational at the moment. Tenet remains the most-watched film having sold three lakh tickets. The data is for sales from October 16 to December 18. Second to Tenet in the Top Watched Movies Post Lockdown list by ticket sales is Biskoth (Tamil), followed by Irandam Kuththu (Tamil), Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari (Hindi), and Dracula Sir (Bengali).## Dracula Sir was the first new film to release post the lockdown, during Dussehra. The top cities for films post lockdown are Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and NCR.## In terms of in-home virtual entertainment, 2,33,219 consumers registered and bought tickets to watch virtual events. Sports (cricket), Music shows, Workshops, Performances (acts such as circus), Comedy, and Online Games emerged as the Most Popular Genres. The data is from April 1 till December 18.## "While a complete return to out-of-home entertainment will probably take a few more months, we foresee the future of entertainment to remain strong as people love to socialize and get out. However, we think there is an opportunity for a hybrid model where both out-of-home and a live experien"e on-ground may co-exist", said Ashish Hemrajani from BookMyShow.## Talking about the pre-lockdown times in 2020, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior was the top film. It is followed by Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (Telugu), Sarileru Neekevvaru (Telugu), Darbar (Tamil), Bheeshma (Telugu), Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (Hindi), Baaghi 3 (Hindi), Street Dancer 3 (Hindi), Anjaam Pathiraa (Malayalam) and 1917 (English).## The top watched genres remained action, historicals, and drama. BookMyShow sold 2.1 million film tickets for a single day on January 12, the highest ever sold. Baaghi 3 was the last film in theatres with 35 percent watching the movie before the curtains were temporarily brought down in theatres in India.
