SIIMA Awards 2021: Here Is The Complete List Of Award Winners

Hyderabad, September 19, 2021: The prestigious, South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA), which honors the best artistic and technical achievements of the south Indian film industry, were held on September 19 in a star-studded ceremony in Hyderabad.## The first day of the awards ceremony was attended by some of the biggest artists of Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam cinema such as Mahesh Babu, Nani, Rashmika Mandanna, Shruti Haasan, Shine Tom Chacko, among others. ## On day 1, the best South Indian actors and movies of 2019 were honored. Tamil OTT Blockbuster 'Soorarai Pottru' To Be Remade In Hindi

Mumbai, July 12, 2021: After taking the OTT world by storm, Suriya's monster hit, Soorarai Pottru is all set to be remade in Hindi. Suriya's production house, 2D Entertainment, joins hands with Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment to produce the Hindi version of this critically acclaimed and widely appreciated film. ## "The love and appreciation that was showered on Soorarai Pottru was unprecedented. From the minute I heard this story I felt this has to be a pan India film because the soul of it is such. It gives me immense pleasure to partner with Abundantia Entertainment, who have always made quality content, to tell the inspiring story of Captain Gopinath in Hindi", Suriya said in a statement. ## Abundantia Entertainment has made some well-received and critically acclaimed films such as Airlift, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Sherni, Shakuntala Devi, among others. It has the mega 'Ram Setu' and Amazon Prime show 'The End' in the works. And now, with the Soorarai Pottru remake, the production house makes sure the list gets richer. ## Sudha Kongara, who directed the original Tamil version, will also be helming the Hindi remake too. R. Gopinath. It was selected as one among ten Indian films to be screened under the Best Foreign Film category at the 78th Golden Globe Awards. The film was made available for screening at the 93rd Academy Awards but was not nominated. Apart from Suriya, the movie also starred Paresh Rawal, and Aparna Balamurali with Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Karunas amongst others in supporting roles. ## The cast and crew for the Hindi remake are yet to be finalized. Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor was rumored to be approached to play Suriya's role in the Hindi remake, ever before the film release on Amazon Prime Video. Chennai, May 17, 2021: Kollywood superstar Suriya may have received criticism for his move of releasing his film, "Soorarai Pottru" directly on a digital platform, but the movie got appreciation from one and all, not only in India but also from the global audience. ## "Soorarai Pottru", which is based on the life of the Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath, received rave reviews from critics and audiences for its story and brilliant acting by everyone in the film. Shahid Kapoor seems to become the first choice of the filmmakers and producers when it comes to the Hindi remake of the South Indian movies. After the blockbuster Kabir Singh that was the Hindi adaptation of the Telugu movie Arjun Reddy, Shahid Kapoor is currently working on Jersey which is also a remake of the Telugu movie with the same name that starred Nani in the lead role. ## Now, according to the Mid-Day report, the makers of the Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru starring Suriya has approached Shahid Kapoor for its Hindi remake to play the lead role. Dhanush's 'Karnan' to feature three heroines

Chennai, 19 March (IANS) Tamil star Dhanush stars with not one but three heroines in his upcoming film "Karnan". ## Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan, "96" fame Gouri G. Kishan and "Maya" actress Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli have been signed up for the film, directed by Mari Selvaraj. ## Pictures from the film's set show Rajisha looking unrecognisable donning the look of a rural woman. The actress has had a dream run in Malayalam films last year with releases such as "June", "Finals" and "Stand Up", and "Karnan" marks her Tamil film debut. ## Gouri took to social media to talk about the film, which was known as D41 before it got an official title. "I am deeply humbled to announce that I am on-board D41 with the phenomenal Mari Selvaraj sir," wrote Gouri. She is also a part of actor Vijay's new film "Master", where she is said to be playing a student. ## Lakshmi, who has starred in films such as "Richie" and "Sivaranjiyum Innum Sila Pengalum", tweeted, on the auspicios occasion of Tamil New Year: "I am very happy to announce that I have joined the sets of #D41 #Karnan directed by the brilliant @mari_selvaraj sir. Dhanush's next not based on Kodiyankulam caste riots: Director

Chennai, March 5 (IANS) Tamil superstar Dhanush's upcoming film 'Karnan' is not about Kodiyankulam caste riots, the film's director Mari Selvaraj has clarified, in a recent interview to the Tamil publication Vikatan.## Controversy erupted since it was speculated that ''Karnan'' is about the 1995 Kodiyankulam Maniyachi communal clash. The crew of the film was even threatened to stop shooting in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi or face consequences. Members of the political party Mukkulathor Pulipadai demanded that the permission for the shoot be cancelled. The organisation's leader, actor-turned-politician Karunas, even went on to say that the film is overtly critical of a particular community, and portraying a similar episode might disturb peace in the region. Party members also urged the police to arrest the director.## In an unrelated controversy, fans of late actor Sivaji Ganesan had earlier requested the film's producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu to change the film's title because Sivaji's 1964 mythological film had the same title.## Chandrasekharan, President of Sivaji Social Welfare Association, wrote a letter to the producer stating: "We all know that Karnan is legendary Sivaji Ganesan sir's classic film. Now we have come to know that your film with Dhanush is titled as Karnan. It would be great if you could add a prefix or suffix instead of using the exact title of Sivaji's classic film. It hurts the sentiment of ardent fans."## Although the producer still hasn't changed the film's title, Dhanush recently took to his social media account to declare that he has completed 90 percent of the film's shoot. He shared the news with a photograph from the film, which showed him holding a sickle in his hand. Fans were quick to notice that his look was similar to his recent hit "Asuran", and expressed their anticipation for ''Karnan''## Said to be an action entertainer, which is set in Tirunelveli, the film also stars Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan as the female lead, cinematographer-turned-actor Natarajan aka Natty and Malayalam actor Lal among others.## "Karnan'' will release in mid-2020.## Meanwhile, Dhanush's film by director Karthik Subbaraj titled ''Jagame Thandhiram'', has been wrapped. The film will release on May 1. The first look poster of the film resembles the 15th-century, mural painting, The Last Supper by Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci.## In a tweet, Dhanush wrote: "It was a pleasure to work with such a quirky, sensible and visionary filmmaker like @karthiksubbaraj this one is going to be special.''## The film features Malayalam actors Aishwarya Lekshmi and Joju George.## For more and latest news about Kollywood, stay tuned with us.
