Vishnu Manchu Voted As Next President Of The Movie Artists Association (MAA)

Hyderabad, October 10 - Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu has been voted as the next president of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), the apex body of the Telugu film industry. He was up against Prakash Raj and defeated him by a huge margin of over 400 votes. ## There was a huge excitement for MAA elections this year like never before as it is a General Elections for state and Central governments. Telugu news channels have noted that Vishnu's father Mohan Babu played a huge role in Vishnu's victory. There was intense campaigning by Vishnu's panel and Prakash Raj's panel over the last few weeks which made the MAA elections, which are usually a low-key affair, interesting. ## While Vishnu Manchu takes the top position for the next two years, reportedly Prakash Raj's panel won more positions than Manchu's panel. For the Executive Vice President post, Srikanth from the Prakash Raj panel won over Babu Mohan from Vishnu Manchu. Raghu Babu and Shiva Balaji from Manchu's panel won on General Secretary and Treasurer posts. Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, And Other Leading Tollywood Stars Cast Votes In Closely Fought MAA Elections

Hyderabad, October 10 - Power Star Pawan Kalyan, Megastar Chiranjeevi as well as other leading Tollywood actors including Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Ram Charan, among others cast their votes on Sunday (October 10) to elect new office-bearers of the Movie Artists Association (MAA), the apex body of the Telugu film industry. ## MAA members were voting to elect a 26-member executive comprising the president, general secretary, two joint secretaries, treasurer, and 18 committee members. Actor-producer Vishnu Manchu and actor Prakash Raj are the two contenders battling for the post of MAA president. ## Polling, which began at 8 AM at the Jubilee Hills Public School, was progressing smoothly. It was to end at 2 PM but was extended by an hour by the election officer, Krishna Mohan. There are a total of 925 MAA members and out of them, 883 members are eligible to cast their votes. Of them, 665 had cast their ballots. The counting is likely to continue till 8 PM, when the results are slated to be declared.## Retired employees of the Telangana Cooperative Society made elaborate arrangements for the polling in adherence with Covid-19 protocols. As many as 50 policemen and women were deployed as part of the security measures. The two parties have had a friendly camaraderie on the polling day as the two contenders battling for the post of MAA president shook hands and embraced each other to declare that they are all one. ## Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan was one of the first to cast his votes. Talking to reporters, the Jana Sena president declined to name the panel he votes for. He said MAA elections would have no bearing on the friendship between his brother Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu. Pawan said the film industry will not split due to MAA polls.## Megastar and MAA founding president Chiranjeevi said he had cast his vote as per his conscience. He said that whenever the MAA elections were held, the same acrimony was witnessed and called for putting an end to it. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi's brother Naga Babu told reporters that he cast his vote for the Prakash Raj panel. ## Genelia D'Souza, who had been staying away from Telugu films following her marriage to Bollywood actor Ritesh Deshmukh, also came to Hyderabad to cast her vote. Senior actress and former MP Jaya Prada also cast her vote. Mohan Babu said she flew in from Delhi at his request to participate in the voting.## Stay tuned...
