Margot Robbie's 'Barbie' Scores Highest Pre-Sales Since James Cameron's 'Avatar 2'
Los Angeles, July 20 - Margot Robbie-led fantasy comedy film "Barbie" is about to begin its party at the box office. The Great Gerwig's directorial has been one of the hotly anticipated Hollywood movies and it is set to win the opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. ## "Barbie" is having insane pre-sales domestically, as according to Deadline, the film has sold the highest number of tickets since James Cameron's "Avatar: The Way of Water" hit theaters back in mid-December of last year.## While the advance booking numbers are not revealed, it is believed to be historical, this too, when the movie will directly indulging a clash with Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" which is raising eyebrows in the trade as well as the studio.## According to the Box Office Company (via Deadline), Barbie is outrunning every other movie so far this year. It is behind only "Avatar: The Way of Water" which took the opening of $134 million. "Barbie" is currently tracking a $110 million start with some highly optimistic trade predicting that it could have a shot at beating "Avatar 2". ## It is also anticipated that over 200,000 moviegoers will attend screenings of Barbie and Oppenheimer on the same day, according to the National Association of Theatre Owners. AMC previously reported that over 40,000 of the theater chain's Stubs members have purchased tickets for both movies on the same day.## The film stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, who go on a journey of self-discovery after their expulsion from the utopian Barbieland, alongside a large ensemble cast that includes America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cera, Ariana Greenblatt, Issa Rae, Rhea Perlman, Helen Mirren, and Will Ferrell, among many others.## "Barbie" is scheduled to release on July 21. ## Stay tuned...
