Box Office: Munjya Takes Third Best Opening In Maddock Films' Horror-Comedy Universe

Mumbai, June 8 - Director Aditya Sarpotdar's Munjya has taken the third-best opening in Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe after performing way above expectations. It is the 4th movie in the studio's successful Supernatural Universe after Stree (2018), Roohi (2021), and Bhediya (2022).## Starring Sharvari Wagh, Mona Singh, Abhay Verma, and Sathyaraj in the key roles, Munjya scored approximately 4 crores net on its opening day, including the previews. In the horror-comedy universe, it is the third-best start after Bhediya (7.50 crores net) and Stree (6.82 crores net). Roohi scored 2.90 crores during the COVID-19 pandemic. ## Munjya, despite no face value, surprised the trade which was expecting an opening day in the range of 2 crores net. The trailer of the movie was well received, plus its connection with the previous films in the franchise and affordable ticket prices, collectively boosted its box office prospects. ## The fantastic opening of Munjya is good news for Stree 2, which is scheduled to release in August this year. Mumbai, May 21 - Maddock Films has unveiled the teaser of their next film in the horror-comedy universe titled Munjya. Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the movie stars Sharvari Wagh, Abhay Verma, Mona Singh, and S. Sathyaraj in key roles. ## The teaser of Munjya is interesting as it features a peculiar creature, an all-new CGI actor who appears to have a special fondness for Malaika Arora's 2011 hit track Munni Badnam Hui in Dabangg. The movie promises another unique experience in the horror-comedy universe which has set the bar high with each film. ## The one-minute-23-second-long teaser begins in a dense forest and offers a glimpse into the world of Munjya, leaving audiences curious about the titular creature's relentless search for a mysterious Munni as he climbs one tree to another. Mumbai, August 8 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who is gearing up for the release of his most-awaited comedy-drama film Laal Singh Chaddha, said that the digital platforms are not a challenge to big screen cinema but the filmmakers are making it a challenge to the cinema. ## Aamir was recently in Chennai for the promotions of Laal Singh Chaddha. During an interview with Galatta, the superstar spoke about what the Indian film industry needs to do to save cinema. It is a well-known fact that Aamir is a huge ambassador of big screens cinema and his upcoming movie is also designed for the big screen only. ## During the covid-19 pandemic, many films opted for a short theatrical window which has largely backfired. Aamir said that the industry must understand that to save cinema, there must be a bigger gap between theatrical release and OTT premiere. ## The actor went on to say that the industry is not putting effort to bring the audiences to the theaters by keeping a short theatrical window. He said that when a movie will come to OTT within 4 weeks, how can filmmakers expect the audience to come to theaters to watch movies. ## Adding further, the PK actor said that the industry should give a clear choice to the audience that if they want to watch the film on OTT then they have to wait for 6 months.
