IMDb Unveils Top 10 Most Anticipated Upcoming Indian Movies of 2024

Mumbai, July 23 - IMDb has unveiled the top 10 most anticipated upcoming Indian movies of 2024, and not so surprisingly, superstar Allu Arjun-fronted Pan India action drama Pushpa 2 - The Rule takes the first spot. ## Directed by Sukumar, the sequel to the 2021 movie Pushpa - The Rise, Pushpa 2 has been the talk of the town ever since the first part was released. Also starring Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, the blockbuster movie is scheduled to be released on December 6 in multiple languages.## The second most anticipated Indian movie of the year is superstar Jr. NTR's action drama, Devara: Part 1 which is again a Pan India title. It is directed by Koratala Siva and also stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in their Telugu debut. The movie is slated to hit the big screen on September 28. ## Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy entertainer, Welcome To The Jungle (Welcome 3) is the third most anticipated movie of 2024. The multi-starrer tentpole is currently scheduled to be released during the Christmas weekend, however, it is likely to be postponed to next year. ## Thalapathy Vijay's sci-fi action thriller, The Greatest of All-Time (GOAT) is the 4th most-anticipated Indian title of the year. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, GOAT is the second last movie of Vijay before he enters politics. It is scheduled to be released on September 5. Another hugely-awaited Pan India movie, Suriya's Kanguva takes the 5th spot in the list. Directed by Siva, the film is slated to debut on the big screen on October 10. It also stars Bobby Deol and Disha Patani in their Tamil debuts. ## Ajay Devgn's cop action drama Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty and Kartik Aaryan's horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, directed by Anees Bazmee, two of the potential highest Bollywood grossers of the year, is the 6th and 7th most-anticipated titles, respectively. Both movies will clash at the box office on Diwali this year. ## Actor Vikram's Tamil action-drama Thangalaan, directed by Pa. Ranjith is 8th on the list of the most-anticipated Indian title of 2024. It is scheduled to be released on August 15. Mumbai, July 20 - The Independence Day 2024 weekend is shaping up to be the most important weekend for the filmmakers who are busy blocking the slot for their respective films. There are nearly a dozen films already lined up to release on August 15 and some of them are potential big-money spinners.## The Hindi box office can see one of the biggest weekends of the year starting on Independence Day. Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's horror-comedy Stree 2 is easily the most anticipated movie to release during the period, however, it won't have a smooth ride at the box office as there 5 other major films ready to compete with it. ## The biggest competitor of Stree 2 will be Akshay Kumar's comedy-drama Khel Khel Mein, which also stars Vaani Kapoor, Ammy Virk, Taapsee Pannu, Fardeen Khan, and Pragya Jaiswal, among others. Chennai, July 8 - The trailer of Chiyaan Vikram's period action drama film Thangalaan, directed by Pa. Ranjith, will be released on July 10, Wednesday, the makers announced on Monday. ## As one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year, Thangalaan has been in production since October 2022. Though the filming was wrapped up in July 2023, the post-production has been going on since then and it is finally getting ready to release on August 15 this year. ## Produced by Studio Green and Neelam Productions, Thangalaan is set during British rule in India, where Thangalaan, a tribal leader, goes on a valiant struggle against the British after they plot to seize his land for gold mining. ## The movie stars Vikram in the titular role, alongside Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathy, Daniel Caltagirone, Hari Krishnan Anbudurai, Vettai Muthukumar, Arjun Anbudan, and Sampath Ram. Netflix Announces Post-Theatrical Streaming Slate of Upcoming Tamil Films

Mumbai, January 17 - Netflix has been on an announcement spree regarding the post-theatrical streaming slate of South Indian films. The streamer recently announced several Telugu films which will stream on its platform after their theatrical run and now, it has announced Tamil titles. ## One of the biggest Tamil films to stream on Netflix after its theatrical release is superstar Ajith Kumar's VidaaMuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and produced by Lyca Productions. The theatrical release of the film is yet to be announced but it is expected to release either Diwali this year or Sankranthi 2025. It will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. ## Netflix also has Lyca's Indian 2, starring legendary Kamal Haasan and directed by Shankar. A sequel to the 1996 blockbuster "Indian", it is easily one of the Tamil films of the year, scheduled to release during summer. It will be available to stream on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, post its theatrical release. ## Chiyaan Vikram's period action drama Thangalaan, directed by directed by Pa. Ranjith and produced by Studio Green, is also grabbed by Netflix. The movie is announced for theatrical release in April 2024. Sony Pictures International Production's debut in Tamil cinema, tentatively titled SK21, also produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, is also part of the Netflix lineup. ## Among the other films, Vijay Sethupathi's Maharaja directed by Nithilan Saminathan along with Keerthy Suresh-led Passion Film Factory and The Route's Revolver Rita directed by K. Chandru, Dream Warrior Pictures’ Kannivedi, SNS Productions' Sorgavaasal, and AGS Entertainment's Conjuring Kannappan is also part of Netflix's line-up. ## The unreleased films will debut on Netflix after their theatrical releases. Chennai, July 16 - Tamil star Vikram aka Chiyaan Vikram, who is waiting for the release of his long-awaited action thriller movie Cobra, has teamed up with director Pa. Ranjith for his next movie, tentatively titled Chiyaan 61. It marks Vikram's first collaboration with the director, who is known for the movies like "Kabali" (2016), "Kaala" (2018), and "Sarpatta Parambarai" (2021).## "Chiyaan 61" is touted to be a period action drama film and will reportedly be shot in 3D.
