Jr. NTR's Dragon With Director Prashanth Neel Locks Post-Theatrical Streaming Deal With Netflix

Hyderabad, October 15: One of India's most-awaited Pan India big-screen spectacles, Dragon (tentative title) starring superstar Jr. NTR and directed by Prashanth Neel, is making noise for all the right reasons. The movie is reportedly shaping up really well, amid the growing anticipation. Dragon or NTR 31 marks the first collaboration between NTR and Neel, who got the wide pan-India recognition with their recent films. Considering the top-tier talent involved and huge expectations among the nationwide audience, the makers are treating it as a proper Pan-India blockbuster, and accordingly have locked a post-theatrical streaming deal. According to the latest Telugu media reports, Dragon has finalised its streaming partner ahead of its massive theatrical release next year. The high-octane period actioner has reportedly sealed a lucrative digital deal with Netflix, with an 8-week post-theatrical window before its OTT premiere. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with NTR Arts, Dragon joins the very few South Indian origin Pan India films to lock an 8-week window. It is to be noted that to secure wide release in Hindi, a film requires an 8-week theatrical run, and the makers of Dragon are highly confident that their film will work wonders at the Hindi box office. However, an extended window for all versions is definitely a welcome move. The film, said to be mounted on a massive scale, features Jr. NTR in an intense action-packed role with Prashanth Neel's trademark dark, gritty tone and large-scale world-building. The shooting is currently in progress, with major portions being filmed in specially erected sets across Hyderabad and abroad. The film is scheduled to release on June 25, 2026, in multiple languages. Stay tuned...

Will Kantara Chapter 1 Cross the 200 Crore Milestone in Karnataka and Eclipse KGF Chapter 2's Record?

Rishab Shetty"™s magnum opus, Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1, continues to soar 12 days after its theatrical release. In a remarkable display of box office dominance, Rishab Shetty's Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 has continued its triumphant run, amassing an impressive ₹176 (est)crore gross in Karnataka by the end of its 12th day. Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 garnered approximately ₹12 crore gross in Karnatak on Day 12, contributing to a cumulative Karnataka gross of around ₹176 crore. The film's performance has been consistent, with strong weekday holds following a blockbuster opening weekend. Overall, the movie's India net collection stood at ₹451.9 crore by Day 12, with the Karnataka Gross contributing to ₹176(est)crore, highlighting its core strength in the regional market. This achievement places Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 on the cusp of surpassing one of Kannada cinema's biggest benchmarks: KGF Chapter 2's lifetime Karnataka gross of ₹182.96 crore "” a feat the Yash-starrer achieved over 50+ days in 2022. Directed by Prashanth Neel and starring Yash, KGF Chapter 2 (2022) remains a monumental hit, with its lifetime Kannada version netting ₹154.69 crore and driving the film's worldwide gross to a staggering ₹1,215 crore. However, Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 has already closed the gap significantly in just 12 days, contributing to ₹142.7 (est)crore in kanada version signaling a potential shift in the record books for Sandalwood's highest earners. Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 could soon breach the ₹200 crore gross mark in Karnataka alone, At this pace, the ₹200 crore mark feels inevitable, potentially within the next 7-10 days "” a feat that would etch its name in history as the first Kannada film to achieve this in its home market. The film's momentum, fueled by positive word-of-mouth and repeat viewings, positions it well by keeping its winning streak high in order to exceed current records. When viewed through the lens of worldwide gross, Kantara: A Legend Chapter-1 has already climbed to the second spot among the highest-grossing Kannada films, with ₹ 635.5 Cr crore as of Day 12, trailing only KGF Chapter 2's ₹1,215 crore. Other notable entries include the original Kantara at ₹407.82 crore and KGF: Chapter 1 at ₹ 237.75  crore worldwide. However, focusing on Karnataka collections emphasizes the unprecedented regional pull of Shetty's latest venture, potentially redefining success metrics for Kannada-language films. This surge not only cements Rishab Shetty's status as a pan-India star but also highlights the growing global appetite for authentic regional narratives. As the film continues its theatrical run, all eyes are on whether it will indeed make history by hitting that elusive ₹200 crore mark in Karnataka.

Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 Beats Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 To Score Biggest Opening Weekend In Karnataka

Bengaluru, October 6 - Hombale Films' blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1 has shattered records at the homeland box office after the excellent opening weekend. Written, directed, and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the period folk action thriller has scored the biggest opening weekend ever in Karnataka, beating Yash-fronted KGF Chapter 2. Kantara Chapter 2, which was released on October 2nd, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti and Dusshera, opened to over 20 crores gross in the state, and remained rock solid throughout the 4-day extended weekend to gross around 79 crores, which is now a record in KA. Yash's action drama, which also had the 4-day weekend, minted approximately 73.50 crores gross in the home state during its opening frame. Kantara 2 beating all-time biggest Kannada blockbuster is a major achievement as Prashanth Neel's directorial was hugely hyped before taking the box office by storm. After the opening weekend, the Kantara prequel is holding extremely well domestically, especially in Karnataka. By tomorrow (day 6th), it will cross 100 crores gross in the state and will become only the fifth movie ever to reach the milestone after Baahubali 2, KGF 1, KGF 2, and Kantara. Considering the current trend, Kantara 2 might become the first movie ever to breach the milestone of 200 crores in Karnataka, beating Kantara (183.60 crores). However, a lot will depend on how it fares in the second weekend and beyond, which will be crucial for it to achieve the ultimate glory. Highest-grossing movies in Karnataka - 1. Top Films With 100 Crore Openings At The Indian Box Office: Prabhas Dominates With Five Films

Hyderabad, September 26 - The Indian box office has seen several historic milestones over the last few years, but only a few films have managed to cross the coveted 100 crore mark on the first day in the domestic market. Dominated by Telugu origin films, the elite club is reserved for the biggest spectacles that not only ride on star power but also on unprecedented hype, massive release scales, and pan-India appeal. At the very top of the list is Pan India superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule, which stormed into cinemas with an earth-shattering 209 crore opening in India "” the biggest single-day haul ever recorded in the country. Close on its heels are director SS Rajamouli's blockbusters RRR and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which grossed 156 crore and 153 crore respectively, setting benchmarks that seemed unbeatable at the time. Yash's KGF Chapter 2 followed with 134.50 crore, while Prabhas made his mark again with Kalki 2898 AD at 116 crore, Salaar at 107.10 crore, Saaho at 105 crore and Adipurush at 102.50 crore gross. The latest film in this prestigious club is Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG, which is estimated to gross over 100 crores in India. What's remarkable is that, except for one film, every single one of these 100 crore openers comes from South Indian cinema. The Telugu industry, in particular, has redefined the meaning of a "mass opening" in Indian cinema. Backed by visionary filmmakers like Rajamouli, Sukumar, Nag Ashwin, and Prashanth Neel, and powered by stars such as Allu Arjun, Prabhas, Ram Charan, Jr NTR, and Yash, these films have created a cultural and commercial wave that Bollywood has yet to match. Today, breaching the 100 crore mark on opening day in India has become the ultimate benchmark for any big-ticket release. With upcoming projects from the same powerhouses "” be it sequels, mythological spectacles, or high-octane action dramas "” the club is only expected to expand further. As Indian cinema continues to scale new heights, these films remain towering examples of how a perfect mix of scale, vision, and star power can turn a release into a nationwide festival. Pawan Kalyan's OG Director Sujeeth Joins SS Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel, and Lokesh Kanagaraj In The Back-To-Back 100 Crore Openers

Hyderabad, September 25 - Scoring 100 crore worldwide on the very first day is one of the toughest milestones in Indian cinema. Though the milestone is now not out of reach, only a handful of films have achieved that, and only 4 directors have managed to achieve this back-to-back. Director Sujeeth, who has patiently worked on superstar Pawan Kalyan's They Call Him OG after Prabhas-fronted Saaho, has joined the elite league of SS Rajamouli, Prashanth Neel, and Lokesh Kanagaraj in delivering back-to-back 100 crores openers at the worldwide box office. 1. SS Rajamouli "“ Baahubali 2 (2017), RRR (2022) The pioneer of pan-Indian blockbusters, Rajamouli redefined the Indian box office. Baahubali 2 shocked the trade with an earth-shattering 200+ crore day one, followed by RRR, which repeated the magic with another 200 crore+ worldwide opening. He is the only Indian director to achieve this feat. 2. Prashanth Neel "“ KGF Chapter 2 (2022), Salaar (2023) Neel proved his mettle as a mass-action storyteller with Kannada superstar Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2 and cemented it with Pan-India superstar Prabhas-fronted Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire. Both films crossed 150+ crore globally on day one, making him one of the few to achieve this consistency. 3. Lokesh Kanagaraj "“ Leo (2023), Coolie (2025) Lokesh has become the face of Tamil cinema's new-age mass entertainers. After Thalapathy Vijay's Leo scored a 140 crore+ opening, the mavrick filmmaker followed it up with superstar Rajinikanth's Coolie, which became the first Tamil movie to take the opening of 150+ crores worldwide. 4. Sujeeth "“ Saaho (2019), They Call Him OG (2025) Sujeeth surprised the industry with Prabhas-starrer action thriller Saaho's 125+ crore global debut and has now repeated the feat with superstar Pawan Kalyan's gangster action thriller They Call Him OG. With this, he officially joins the league of filmmakers delivering consecutive ₹100 crore openers. Stay tuned...

Dragon Buzz: Director Prashanth Neel Aims For History Beyond KGF and Salaar With Jr. NTR's Film

Hyderabad, August 30 - Director Prashanth Neel is looking to rewrite history with his upcoming film, tentatively titled Dragon with Telugu superstar Jr. NTR. The maverick filmmaker has delivered three back-to-back blockbusters in the KGF films and Salaar, but he aims to take his game to the next level with Dragon. There is no doubt NTR-Neel is among the biggest Indian films in the making, and if the reports are anything to go by, it could become Neel's biggest blockbuster yet. According to a recent report in Hindustan Times, "Prashanth Neel"™s next with Jr NTR is his most ambitious and biggest project yet; even bigger than his pan-India blockbusters like KGF and Salaar." Dragon, which is said to be a unique script that hasn't been seen in Indian cinema before, is believed to be a film Neel has dreamt of making from the very beginning, and he found his favourite actor, Jr NTR, to headline this mega movie. The film is being produced by Mythri Movie Makers and NTR Arts, and it is said that there are no budget constraints to mount to film on a scale the filmmaker wants. He is reportedly happy with the way the film is shaping up, as it is progressing beyond what he had even imagined. Dragon has been announced for a June 2026 release worldwide in multiple languages. The first look announcement had been planned for Jr NTR's birthday in May, but it was postponed to make way for NTR's Bollywood debut, War 2, which was released on August 14. Stay tuned...

100 Crore Kannada Grosser At The Worldwide Box Office: Blockbuster Su From So Joins Yash's KGF 2 and Four Others

Bengaluru, August 17 - Kannada cinema has delivered yet another remarkable milestone at the worldwide box office. Actor-producer Raj B. Shetty's comedy-drama Su From So has emerged as a surprise 100 crore blockbuster, joining an exclusive list of just a handful of Kannada films that have crossed the century mark in global collections. Kannada industry, despite the potential, has been the least successful South Indian film industry in terms of delivering 100 crore movies. And when a film achieves this mark, it becomes a monumental feat worthy of huge celebrations, unlike other industries, where 100 crores becomes the norm. The success of Su From So comes at a time when Kannada cinema was going through a relatively dull phase in 2024, with failure after failure. Released on July 25, the film steadily grew with strong word of mouth, eventually storming past the coveted figure. It is the highest-grossing Kannada movie of the year by a long margin. Su From So is only the sixth Kannada film ever to achieve the milestone of 100 crores gross worldwide. This is the first 100 crores Kannada grosser since Rishab Shetty's mega blockbuster Kantara Chapter 1, which was released in September 2022. Have a look at the complete list of 100 crores Kannada grossers - KGF: Chapter 2 (1215 crore) - Yash's magnum opus, directed by Prashanth Neel, remains the biggest ever Kannada film and one of the highest-grossing Indian films in history. It is the only Kannada and one of only eight Indian films to breach the milestone of 1000 crores worldwide. Kantara (408 crore) - Directed and headlined by Rishab Shetty, the divine folklore action-drama shocked trade analysts by becoming a cultural and commercial phenomenon worldwide, and is currently the second biggest Kannada grosser of all-time. KGF: Chapter 1 (237.75 crore) - It was the first Kannada movie to breach the 100 crores milestone worldwide. The film that started the KGF storm, turning Yash into a pan-India superstar and proving Kannada cinema's global potential. 100 Crore Kannada Grosser At The Worldwide Box Office Rank Film Title Total Worldwide GBOC Release Year 1.KGF: Chapter 2₹ 1215.00 Cr20222.Kantara₹ 408.00 Cr2022 3.KGF: Chapter 1₹ 237.75 Cr2018 4.Su From So₹ 121+ Cr2025 5.777 Charlie₹ 102.75 Cr2022 6.Vikrant Rona₹ 100+ Cr2022 Note: Overseas collection of 777 Charlie and Vikrant Rona might be underreported as data are not available. (as of September 4, 2025) Su From So (121+ crore) - The latest entrant, Raj B. Shetty's unique blend of comedy and drama, has found massive love from audiences, bringing Kannada cinema back into the spotlight. 777 Charlie (102.75 crore) - The heartwarming dog adventure drama, fronted by Rakshit Shetty, connected with families and animal lovers, pushing it past the century mark. It is hailed as one of the finest films of Kannada cinema in recent times. Vikrant Rona (100+ crore) - Kannada star Kichcha Sudeep's fantasy action entertainer, with its stylish visuals and grand scale, managed to go past 100 crores worldwide. It was one of the most hyped Kannada movies, but the film somewhat underperformed. Even though the success count of Kannada cinema has largely been underwhelming, it now proudly has six worldwide 100 crore grossers, a feat that only a few years ago seemed far-fetched. The trend shows that while mega spectacles like KGF and Kantara set records, even smaller-budget, content-driven films like Su From So can emerge victorious at the box office if backed by strong storytelling and word of mouth. As the industry looks ahead, there are a few films, including Yash's Toxic and Rishab Shetty's Kantara 2, in the making, which are sure to find their place in the biggest Kannada grossers. The industry, however, will hope that more and more tentpole films are put under production to increase the success count.

Yash's 'KGF: Chapter 3' Re-Confirmed As Makers Celebrate 3 Years of Monster Blockbuster 'KGF: Chapter 2'

Bengaluru, April 14 - The biggest blockbuster from the Kannada film industry KGF: Chapter 2 starring superstar Yash and directed by Prashanth Neel, was released on this day (April 14) three years ago, and the rest is history. ## The action drama set the box office on fire upon its release and went on to become the highest-grossing Kannada film of all time with a worldwide collection of over 1200 crores. It is miles ahead of the rest of the Kannada titles and an uphill task for the industry to achieve. ## Produced by Hombale Films, KGF: Chapter 2 is the second part of KGF (2018), but it wasn't the end of the series, as the makers promised the third part in the post-credit scene of part 2. Over the last 3 years, the makers have reiterated their commitment to bring the next chapter, and they have reconfirmed the same again on the third anniversary. ## On Monday, Hombale Films shared over a 2-minute-long trailer-type celebratory video featuring the blockbuster moments of KGF 2 and at the end of it, the studio has promised to come up with KGF: Chapter 3 soon. There are no other details about the next film that have been revealed yet. ## The makers had earlier promised to start the third installment in 2025, but the delay was always on the cards, given the other commitments of both Yash and director Neel. While Yash is currently working on Toxic and Ramayana, Neel is directing superstar Jr. NTR-fronted Dragon, and all 3 films will hit the big screens in 2026. KGF 3 is expected to start rolling by 2026 end or 2027, once the duo completes their ongoing and other planned films.## He came"¦ He saw"¦ He conquered!Celebrating 3 GLORIOUS YEARS of #KGFChapter2 and the Monster"™s mayhem at the box office ❤️"ðŸ”¥- https://t.co/atPSFXN1nA#3YearsOfKGF2Rampage@TheNameIsYash #PrashanthNeel @VKiragandur @hombalefilms @duttsanjay @TandonRaveena @SrinidhiShetty7"¦ pic.twitter.com/HMYimSa35a— Hombale Films (@hombalefilms) April 14, 2025 ## Stay tuned...
