Mumbai, August 24 - Director Priyadarshan has reunited with Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar for a crime thriller Haiwaan, also starring Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. The movie officially kicked off filming on August 23, with plans to release it in the summer of 2026. During a recent interview, Priyadarshan confirmed that Haiwaan is inspired by his 2016 Malayalam movie Oppam, but with several changes to the dialogues and screenplay. Ever since fans learned about this development, they have been wondering if Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, who played the lead role in the original movie, will also make an appearance. Well, the veteran filmmaker has himself confirmed that Mohanlal will indeed play a cameo role in Haiwaan.
