Ranbir Kapoor & Deepika Padukone to reunite? Ayan Mukerji planning a rom-com based on Raj Kapoor-Nargis classic Chori Chori

The magic of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani might be returning to the big screen! In what could be the biggest casting coup of the decade, reports suggest that director Ayan Mukerji is keen to reunite the iconic pair of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone for his next directorial venture. After diving deep into the world of VFX-heavy spectacles like Brahmāstra and War 2, the filmmaker is reportedly looking to switch gears with a classic romantic comedy. According to a report by Mid-day, Ayan Mukerji is developing a script that draws inspiration from the 1956 cult classic Chori Chori, which starred the legendary Raj Kapoor and Nargis. The original film, which itself was inspired by the Hollywood classic It Happened One Night, revolved around a runaway heiress and a freelance reporter who fall in love during a bus journey. The report states that Ayan wants to create a modern-day adaptation of this timeless story, and he believes only Ranbir and Deepika can pull off the chemistry required for such a narrative. For nearly a decade, Ayan Mukerji has been immersed in creating massive, VFX-heavy spectacles. After dedicating eight years to building the Astraverse for Brahmāstra and recently delivering the colossal YRF Spy Universe blockbuster War 2 (starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR) earlier this year, the filmmaker is reportedly looking for a change of pace. Per the report, Ayan desires a palette cleanser following the grueling schedule of the spy thriller. He is eager to return to the genre that originally launched his career"”lighthearted, character-driven romance reminiscent of Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. If the project materializes, it will mark the fourth collaboration between Ranbir and Deepika, following Bachna Ae Haseeno, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and Tamasha. Their on-screen chemistry is regarded as one of the best in Bollywood history, and a reunion directed by Ayan Mukerji"”who gave them their biggest hit together"”is bound to set the box office on fire. While Ranbir Kapoor is currently occupied with Nitesh Tiwari"™s Ramayana and Sanjay Leela Bhansali"™s Love & War (which also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal), and Deepika is juggling her global commitments, fans are hoping this Mid-day report turns into an official announcement soon.

Love and War Release Date: Is An Early Release On The Cards For Ranbir Kapoor's Period Romantic Drama?

Mumbai, November 26 - Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor has one of the best line-ups of films with multiple potential blockbusters. The Animal star will be seen headlining some of the most-awaited Indian films, including Love & War, Ramayana, and Animal Park. While the release dates of Ramayana Part 1 and Part 2 are locked for Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027, the uncertainty over director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love & War is looming large, as the latest reports hint at a major twist despite it being already locked for an August 2026 release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Love & War, which also stars Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, has been in production since last year, and some portion of the shoot is still pending. It was recently postponed to August 2026 from March 19, but according to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, Ranbir is pushing SLB to prepone the release by a couple of months. Indian Cinema Prepares For Its Most Ambitious Line-up Yet With Ramayana, Varanasi, King, and More Since Ramayana Part 1 is already scheduled for Diwali 2026 release, Ranbir has reportedly requested SLB to move his period romantic drama up in June 2026, to maintain a reasonable gap between the two films. "He wants to ensure that there's at least 4 months' gap between Love And War and Ramayana. Since the date of Ramayana can't move, RK has requested Sanjay Leela Bhansali to bring Love And War on the big screen, latest by June 2026", says the report. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) It is said that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is still adamant to launch Love & War in August on Independence Day, since it's a lucrative window for box office dominance, but RK feels that there's too little of a gap between Love & War and Ramayana. Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra is also reportedly putting pressure on SLB to release his movie in June, as he doesn't want the aftermath of Love And War to impact Ramayana in any way. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is expected to take a call on the release date soon and make an official announcement. It will be Ranbir's first release since Animal (2023), which went to become his highest-grossing film with over 900 crores at the worldwide box office. Salman Khan To Release Battle of Galwan On Eid 2026?

Mumbai, November 24 - Superstar Salman Khan's Battle of Galwan is shaping up to be one of the biggest Bollywood films of the next year. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the war action drama has been in the news since its announcement, with buzz growing each passing day. As the shoot of the film is nearing its end, the suspense over the release date continues to grow. Earlier, it was reported that Salman was planning to release it in June 2026 due to a packed schedule early in the year. However, the latest reports hint that it might be released early. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to Bollywood Hungama, the superstar is toying with the idea and considering if his war film can arrive on Eid 2026. Eid has been synonymous with Salman Khan over the years, with any of his films getting released on this festival. Earlier, the actor reportedly decided not to bring BoG during the frame as there are already a couple of big movies releasing. Currently, Yash's Toxic and Ajay Devgn's Dhamaal 4 are scheduled to hit the screens on Eid 2026. However, the postponement of Ranbir Kapoor's Love and War, which was supposed to release on this festival, might have tempted Salman to bring Battle of Galwan to his most celebrated festive slot. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) There are rumours that Toxic might also get postponed due to a delay in production, even though the makers recently reconfirmed their release plans. If it indeed gets postponed, then it might be easy for Salman Khan and team to release BoG during that time, and clash with Dhamaal 4. For that, the Sultan star is seriously considering and will take a call on the same soon. Produced by Salman Khan Films, the film is based on the events that took place between the Indian and Chinese troops at the Galwan region on June 15, 2020, when 200 Indian soldiers bravely defended their territory against a force of 1200 Chinese Liberation Army soldiers. Prabhas vs Ranbir Kapoor: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Love and War Officially Postponed; To Lock Horns With Fauji/Fauzi On Independence Day 2026

Mumbai, October 31 - Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's highly-awaited period romantic action drama film Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, has officially been postponed from Eid 2026 release, averting a clash with Yash-fronted Toxic, which is slated to hit the big screens on March 20. According to the report by Variety, Love and War will be released on the big screen on one of India's most coveted national public holiday frames, Independence Day 2026. It will debut on August 14, possibly setting up with a big box office clash with the Pan India biggie Fauzi, starring Prabhas. Though not yet official, Fauzi, directed by Sita Ramam fame Hanu Raghavapudi, is eyeing the same holiday frame for worldwide release. If true, it will be one of the biggest box office clashes as Fauzi will release in multiple languages, including Hindi. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Fauzi (@fauzithemovie) Independence Day has historically been one of the most lucrative holiday slots for Hindi cinema, which has yielded massive results at the box office. Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2 and Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 were released during this period in 2024 and 2023, respectively, and turned into massive box office juggernauts. Love and War marks the first film for the lead trio together, and first for Vicky Kaushal with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Most of the shooting of the film has been completed, but a major chunk of the filming is left, which is one of the main reasons it has been postponed. It promises the filmmaker's signature blend of scale and emotion, combining opulent visuals with deeply felt storytelling. Stay tuned...

Gadar 3 Release Date - TBA Talks are ongoing for Gadar 3, reuniting Sunny with director Anil Sharma to continue the Gadar saga. The first two films captured massive patriotic fervour and emotional catharsis; a third instalment would look to extend that narrative, leaning on the franchise's scale and the audience's attachment to the central characters. 10. Jaat 2 Release Date - TBA Following the success of Jaat, the sequel is reportedly in the works, with Rajkumar Santoshi in talks to replace Malliani to direct it. With creative teams assembling and scripts being refined, Jaat 2 is positioned to continue Sunny's recent run of earthy action dramas. Sunny Deol's upcoming lineup is intentionally diverse. Director Ayan Mukerji Sparks Fresh Buzz For Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt's Brahmastra Part 2

Mumbai, October 20 - After the box office debacle of Yash Raj Films' War 2, director Ayan Mukerji seems to have started work on Brahmastra Part 2 - Dev, which was supposed to be his next directorial after Part 1 in 2022. The filmmaker has shared a series of pictures which have sparked a fresh buzz for Part 2. On October 19, Ayan took to Instagram to share some pictures from what looks like a mountain getaway in Uttarakhand and captioned them as Pt. 2 with an Om emoji, which hints at the Brahmastra Part 2. Fans also spotted a blurry glimpse of the script of Brahmastra Part 2 in his pictures. The latest post by Ayan Mukerji has almost confirmed that Brahmastra 2 will be his next directorial, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in the leading roles. With this, it has also been confirmed that he won't be directing YRF's Dhoom 4, which will reportedly be headlined by Ranbir Kapoor. Ayan was the first choice to helm the fourth instalment of the heist actioner, but the disastrous box office result of War 2 has made the makers rethink the strategy. According to Bollywood Hungama, "Ayan believes that films like War 2 and Dhoom 4 were never meant for him, and he wants to do something a lot wider with scope for romance, drama with spectacle vibes and storytelling". "Both Aditya Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor understood Ayan's point of view and have parted ways on the right note (on Dhoom 4). Ayan is now working on Brahmastra 2 and will take the film on floors in 2026. The writing work is concluded, and some polishing is going on during his stay in the Himalayas", says the report. However, in the post-pandemic world, Bollywood has reached new highs, not just once, but on many occasions, with record collections, and those films have managed to pull massive footfalls, reaffirming the enduring charm of the big screen. According to the estimates, six Bollywood blockbusters have managed to breach the coveted 3 crore footfalls mark since cinemas reopened in late 2021, proving that audiences are still willing to flock to theatres when offered the right blend of entertainment, star power, and emotion. Topping the list is Shah Rukh Khan's action phenomenon Jawan, which stands tall with 3.80 crore admissions, making it the most-watched Bollywood film of the post-pandemic period. The film's pan-India appeal, coupled with Atlee's mass entertainer packaging, made it a cultural event across the country. Not far behind is SRK's comeback film Pathaan, which kick-started the revival wave for Hindi cinema in early 2023. Sunny Deol's Gadar 2, fueled by nostalgia and patriotic fervour, follows closely with over 3.40 crore admissions, proving that emotional connect remains as powerful as ever. Ranbir Kapoor's intense action drama Animal registered over 3 crore admissions, marking it as a remarkable run for an A-rated film in India. Shraddha Kapoor's horror-comedy Stree 2 and Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava were among the biggest surprises in recent times as they managed to top 3 crore admissions each in India. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule remains the biggest blockbuster in Hindi with an estimated 3.90 crores tickets sold. Top Bollywood Films' Theatrical Performance In Post-Covid Era (Est.) Dhamaal 4 Wraps Filming: Ajay Devgn and Team Re-confirm A Blockbuster Box Office Clash As Complete Cast Reveal

Mumbai, September 6 "“ The wait for one of Bollywood's most beloved comedy franchises just got more exciting as the shoot of Dhamaal 4, directed by Indra Kumar, has officially wrapped up, and the makers have reconfirmed its release date for Eid 2026. Fronted by Ajay Devgn, the fourth instalment brings back the iconic trio of Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, and Jaaved Jaaferi, who have been synonymous with the franchise's success. The upcoming film also marks the return of Sanjay Mishra and Esha Gupta from the last film, while also featuring Upendra Limaye, Anjali Anand, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Ravi Kishan. Produced by T-Series, Maruti International, Ajay Devgn Films, and Panorama Studios, one of the most star-studded comedies in recent years promises to be a laughter-filled extravaganza that continues the legacy of Indra Kumar's comedy blockbusters. The Dhamaal franchise has been a fan-favourite since its inception, and with Ajay Devgn leading the madness this time, expectations are sky-high for another box office riot. Perfect But Highly Risky Release Date While Eid is a lucrative festive weekend for the box office, it is going to be a highly risky affair for the 2026 release. With Dhamaal 4 sticking to the original plan, the movie will have to face a mighty clash with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal's Love & War, along with Yash's Toxic, which are slated for a March 19 debut. It needs to be seen if all three films, arrive on Eid 2026, which is unlikely.
