The movie also stars superstar Yash along with Sai Pallavi, and Sunny Deol, among many others. ## It is known to everyone that Ranbir Kapoor is playing the role of Lord Ram, and now, according to the latest report by Peeping.com, the Brahmastra star will be donning a double role in the film. Apart from playing Lord Ram, Ranbir will also play Maharishi Parashuram. ## It is said that Ranbir's dual role aligns with the fact that both Ram and Parashuram are avatars of Lord Vishnu. Box Office: Punjabi Movie 'Saunkan Saunkne' Scored A Blockbuster Opening Weekend

Chandigarh, May 16 - The Punjabi film industry is shining bright like never before with back-to-back blockbusters over the past few months. After testing the recent success with Honsla Rakh, Qismat 2, and Chal Mera Putt 2, the latest romantic-comedy film, Saunkan Saunkne, has set an all-time record for a Punjabi movie on the opening weekend. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, who also directed the last year's blockbuster Honsla Rakh, Saunkan Saunkne scored 9.65 crores net in its opening weekend, which is the highest-ever for a Punjabi movie. The film beat the record of Shadaa (2019) which had collected 9.15 crore net in the first weekend.## Saunkan Saunkne, starring Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira, grew over the weekend after taking the opening of 2.25 crores net. The movie received excellent reviews which helped it to jump approx. 47% on Saturday for 3.30 crores net. On Sunday, the movie was at its peak and scored 4.10 crores which is probably the highest single-day box office collection for a Punjabi film. ## At the overseas box office, Saunkan Saunkne has scored Rs 6.90 crores gross in the first weekend, taking the total worldwide collection of the film to 18.10 crores gross. There was a time about 6-7 years ago when Punjabi movies used to earn blockbuster status with a lifetime collection of 4-5 crores, and now, tripling it in the opening weekend itself, is really heartening to see. ## The movie is produced by Sargun Mehta, Ravi Dubey, and Jatin Sethi, and distributed by Zee Studios. It is about a couple who are abandoned by their young children at an old age.## The makers have approached well-known actor Aman Verma and later Jimmy for the show to play a lead role. But Jimmy has not signed any contract, and neither Aman said 'yes' for the show.## Jimmy told IANS that Sargun and Ravi just narrated the idea.## "I have done a Punjabi film, 'Jindua' many years back with Sargun, so I know both of them for quite a long time. They narrated an idea to me but beyond that, no contract has been signed yet. This is too early to say anything as things have not moved ahead. I don't know how this news came out.
