PS-1 Review: Moviegoers React To Mani Ratnam's Epic Period Action Drama Film
Chennai, September 30 - Maverick filmmaker Mani Ratnam's highly-anticipated epic period action film Ponniyin Selvan: I has been released in theaters today. Mounted on a big budget and scale, the movie is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name. ##
Produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, "PS-1" tells the story of the early life of Arulmozhivarman, who would become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja I (947–1014). The film stars an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Sobhita Dhulipala among others. ##
The movie has been receiving mostly positive responses from critics and the general audience. While the film is being praised for Mani Ratnam's direction and keeping the story true to the Novel along with solid performances by the primary cast and solid BGM by AR Rehman, it is getting criticism for lacking wow moments. ##
