Mumbai, August 26 - Superstar Salman Khan completes 34 years of working in the Indian Film industry. 34 years back, Salman debuted with Biwi Ho Toh Aisi, where he played a supporting role. Even though being the son of one of the most renowned writers of Bollywood Salim Khan, Salman didn't use his father's name to request a chance. ## The actor had his fair share of struggles to finally secure a chance to act in the film industry. Luck was on Salman's side too when he got selected to play the lead role in "Maine Pyar Kiya" a year later his debut, which made him an overnight sensation. Helen Remembers Shammi Kapoor On 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'

Mumbai, Jan 8 (IANS) Enigmatic yesteryear actress and dancer Helen recalled late actor Shammi Kapoor on the singing reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa'. As Helen is appearing as a special guest, each contestant gave power-packed performances on her famous dance numbers.## While each of them has given their best it was Vraj and Rajashri's dance moves on the song 'O Haseena Zulfonwali Jane Jahan' from the film 'Teesri Manzil', that took Helen down memory lane.## Feeling nostalgic after witnessing Vraj and Rajashri's performance, Helen said: "Such a beautiful performance! I just went down memory lane, and it reminded me of Shammi Ji today. Shammi Ji, are you listening?. If he would have been here, he would have been so happy after seeing your performance".## She recalled working with the late actor and continued: "We both have worked in a lot of films together but let me tell you, he was a prankster, he used to make us all laugh on set. We have done rehearsals for this song around 8 to 10 times, and Shammi Ji had his style. He never used to do any rehearsals".## When Helen's husband and screenwriter Salim Khan made an appearance in the video, she reminisced how even he was part of the famous track 'O Haseena Zulfonwali Jane Jahan' and played drums on it.## She further added: "Salim Saab played a small role, too. Rajesh Khanna biography author charts the superstar's rise and fadeout

Mumbai, Dec 30 (IANS) The rise of Jatin Khanna, better known as Rajesh Khanna, Bollywood's first superstar who commanded a colossal female fan following, reflected the socio-political changes simmering in India of his time, according to his biographer, Gautam Chintamani, whose book is the starting point for Nikhil Dwivedi's just-announced biopic. ## The 1962 Sino-Indian War, said the author of 'Dark Star: The Loneliness Of Being Rajesh Khanna', led to the questioning of the Nehruvian worldview and his version of socialism, and for the first time since Independence, the vote share of the Indian National Congress dipped in the third general election. The rise of the actor mirrored the growing sentiment against the status quo. ## In a conversation with IANS, Chintamani shared anecdotes from the actor's life, demystified the enigma that Rajesh Khanna was and spoke about the subsequent dethroning of the actor by Amitabh Bachchan, who continues to be very much a part of India's showbiz story. ## Explaining why he chose Rajesh Khanna as the subject of his book, Chintamani said: "If you think of filmstars or cultural icons such as Rajesh Khanna, then there are very few people whose life warrants to be told like a story. For me, he's someone who captured the zeitgeist, redefined it and left such a big impression that for generations, film actors have followed that template. That's what got me interested in Rajesh Khanna." ## Despite his success, the superstar never meddled with the scripts or the director's vision. "He never forced filmmakers to change their scripts for the purpose of accommodating his stardom," Chintamani said. "He was a very confident actor."## Talking about the skills of the superstar, Chintamani underlined two of them. One was the actor's way around with silences and the other was how he blended seamlessly with the staging, blocking and overall arrangement of a scene. ## "An actor's prowess also comes across in his silences," Chintamani said, adding: "And if you see some of the best Rajesh Khanna films, he is a part of the whole mise en scene, where he may not have dialogues at times, but his presence is so powerful that you get an idea of what a confident actor he is." ## For all his superstardom, Khanna couldn't escape a dramatic reversal of fortunes. Khanna had a falling out with the screenwriter duo Salim-Javed, who, just like Khanna, changed the rules of the game (in terms of writing) and played a huge part in the creation of Amitabh Bachchan as a subsequent superstar. ## Chintamani explained: "The writing on the wall became clear with the arrival of Amitabh Bachchan as the angry young man in 1973 and the falling out Mr Khanna had with screenwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar combined somewhere. It was very clear that Rajesh Khanna's romantic films would no longer be the mainstay of the industry. The emergence of Amitabh Bachchan, along with the popularity of Rishi Kapoor as a young hero, all happened at the same time." ## Chintama added: "Between 1973 and 1975 there were films such as 'Aap Ki Kasam' and 'Roti', which were very big hits, but post-1975, with the success of 'Deewar' and 'Sholay', the entire scenario changed." ## It is not that Rajesh Khanna did not keep in touch with the changing times. What changed was how the audience perceived him. And it coincided with the rise of a new and brighter star. Bollywood's first superstar soon found himself being sucked into a black hole. ## "He did try to shift gears and keep up with the times, but he was so good in what he did as a romantic hero or a dramatic star that it was difficult for people in the industry to imagine him doing action films. If you see the transition between 1975 and 1980, it was a very difficult phase for Rajesh Khanna," Chintamani pointed out. ## The author concluded by talking about the man behind the superstar. "He was very close to his daughters and he counted that as one of his greatest achievements," Chintamani recalled. "Although my book doesn't look at Rajesh Khanna as the family man because it doesn't focus a lot on that, he was very fond of his grandchildren and children." ##

A Documentary Series On Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan Is In The Making

Mumbai, September 19, 2021: Salman Khan is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in the Hindi film industry. From the beginning of his career to become the superstar, Salman's 33-years of journey in the film industry has nothing been short of a rollercoaster ride, in which he has had his share of ups and downs. ## While the fans of Salman will see plenty of films of him in the future, a docu-series on the actor is also in the making and it has reportedly been titled "Beyond The Star - Salman Khan". To chronicle Salman's journey to stardom and also give a glimpse to the audience about the lesser-known facts of the actor, SKF Films in association with Wiz Films and Applause Entertainment are producing the series. ## According to Pinkvilla, "All the key stakeholders of Salman's career – right from family to his co-stars, directors, and producers – will be a part of this docu-series. The prep work has already begun and the interviews with Salman's colleagues will be done in the coming few months". ## It is reported that the producers are in talks with an OTT platform for the premiere of the series. Meanwhile, a documentary is being made on Salman's father, the celebrated writer Salim Khan and his partnership with the legendary, Javed Akhtar. The Salim – Javed story is being conceptualized by Farhan and Zoya Akhtar with Salman for Netflix. ## Apart from the documentary series, Salman will next be seen in "Antim - The Final Truth", in which he plays a Sikh cop while his brother-in-law, Aayush Sharma plays a gangster. The shooting of the film is completed and is expected to release later this year. ## Salman is currently shooting for YRF's "Tiger 3" in Austria with Katrina Kaif in the lead. Mumbai, June 15, 2021: Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar, two are the most respected names in Indian film history. They are noted for being the first Indian screenwriters to achieve star status, becoming the most successful Indian screenwriters of all time. Mumbai, April 11 (IANS) Superstar Salman Khan, who earlier financially supported 25,000 daily wage workers of the film industry amid the COVID-19 lockdown, has now provided ration facility to them.## Politician Baba Siddique on Friday took to Twitter to thank the actor for his contribution.## "Thank you @beingsalmankhan @tweetbeinghuman for your generous contribution towards the daily wage workers. Salman Khan bravely says he is scared, urges fans to stay at home

Mumbai, April 6 (IANS) In his new social media video, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has urged fans to stay at home during the lockdown, adding that he can bravely admit feeling scared under the circumstances.## In the video where he features with his brother Sohail's son Nirvan, Salman says the famous "Sholay" dialogue "Jo dar gaya woh mar gaya" does not necessarily apply in the current situation.## "You remember the dialogue, Jo dar Gaya samjho Mar Gaya (one who gets scared, dies)? That does not apply in this case. Hum log dar gaye aur badi bahaduri se keh rahein hai ki hum log dar gaye (we are scared and we bravely say so). Please don't try to act brave," Salman says.## The actor concludes the video saying whoever is scared and stays at home will save themselves and others (from the virus). Moral of the story is "We are scared," he added.## In the video, Salman also informs that he has not met his father for three weeks. Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan is staying alone at their Mumbai apartment while the superstar has been spending the lockdown period in his Panvel farmhouse.
