Diljit Dosanjh's 'Sardaar Ji 3' Dominates Overseas Box Office, Nears 50 Crore

Mumbai, July 8 - Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh's horror-comedy Sardaar Ji 3 continues to be a force at the overseas box office, after skipping its India release due to controversy. The film is now inching close to the ₹50 crore mark in international markets alone. ## Directed by Amar Hundal, the film collected approximately ₹9 crore during its second weekend, reflecting a solid hold with just a 40% drop from its first frame. Notably, this total excludes Pakistan, where the film had grossed ₹7 crore in its first week but saw no collections over the weekend due to cinema closures for Muharram. ## With a 10-day overseas gross of ₹42.60 crore (~$5 million), Sardaar Ji 3 now stands as the highest-grossing Punjabi film of 2025, surpassing "Saunkan Saunkanay 2", which had earned around an estimated ₹35 crore globally after its release on May 30th. ## Top Performing Territories ## North America is the biggest market for the film with approximately ₹18.75 crores ($2.2 million), followed by Pakistan with 7 crores ($830K), and the United Kingdom with ₹6.25 crores ($725K). Sardaar Ji 3 is the third biggest Punjabi grosser at the overseas box office, after "Carry On Jatta 3" (₹46 crores) and "Jatt & Juliet 3" (₹57.50 crores). The latest blockbuster has a chance to become the biggest Punjabi grosser in international markets. ## Missed Potential in India ## Sardaar Ji 3 could have emerged as the biggest Punjabi movie at the worldwide box office had it been released in India. But the makers had to let go of its release in the domestic market due to the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, which caused backlash for the makers in the country. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Diljit Dosanjh's 'Sardaar Ji 3' Scored A Big Opening Overseas

Mumbai, July 1 - Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh's much-anticipated horror-comedy Sardaar Ji 3 may have missed out on a domestic box office run, but it's making waves internationally following an excellent opening weekend. The film, which didn't release in India due to controversy, opened overseas on June 27 and has already delivered impressive numbers. ## Directed by Amar Hundal, Sardaar Ji 3 collected approximately ₹18.1 crore ($2.1+ million) in its first three-day weekend, as per an official update from the makers. This marks the second-biggest opening weekend for a Punjabi film ever, trailing only Jatt & Juliet 3, which also featured Diljit in the lead role. ## Breaking down the weekend earnings, the film grossed around ₹4.30 crore on Friday, followed by ₹6.75 crore on Saturday, and ₹7 crore on Sunday. North America emerged as the film's biggest market, contributing approximately ₹6.50 crore (around $760,000) to the weekend total. ## Interestingly, Sardaar Ji 3 also set a new benchmark in Pakistan, registering the highest opening ever for an Indian film in the country. The movie earned nearly ₹3.85 crore (PKR 12.75 crore / $450,000) over the weekend, surpassing the previous 3-day weekend record held by Salman Khan's Sultan, which had opened with approximately PKR 11 crore back in 2016. ## The controversy that led to the film's non-release in India stems from its casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Her involvement sparked backlash, particularly in light of recent tensions following the Pahalgam terrorist attack involving Pakistani terrorists. Due to growing public outrage, the makers opted against a domestic theatrical release. ## With such a strong international reception, it's evident that Sardaar Ji 3 had the potential to perform exceptionally well in Indian theatres. At a time when the Punjabi film industry is reeling from a string of underwhelming releases, this film could have been a much-needed box office boost. ## Stay tuned...

The movie will now only be released outside the domestic market. ## Ever since the trailer of the film has been released, Sardaar Ji 3 is facing the heat as many people and film bodies objected to the casting of Hania Aamir, especially after the recent Phalagam terrorist attack in which Pakistani terrorists were involved in the killing of 26 tourists. ## Many people expressed their anger after the trailer was launched and asked the government to ban the film. Understanding the seriousness of the issue, the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 released a statement, confirming that the film won't be released in India. ## In the statement, the makers stated that " The film was shot well before the prevailing situation that our country is facing now, and it was never ever the case that any Pakistani artist was signed or was engaged after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam". ## Diljit Dosanjh, meanwhile, has backed the decision of makers to not release the movie in India in respect to the sentiments of the people.
