Mumbai, June 18 - Filmmaker Hansal Mehta won high praise for his critically acclaimed thriller series "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story" in 2020, and now, after 3 years, Mehta is returning with its follow-up series Scam 2003: The Telgi Story, directed by Tushar Hiranandani. ## The much-awaited series is adapted from the Hindi book "Reporter Ki Diary" authored by journalist Sanjay Singh, who is credited with breaking the story of the scam back in the time. It brings the story of Abdul Karim Telgi, a counterfeiter who printed fake stamp paper. The scam, spread across multiple states, left the whole country in shock. ## Ever since the series was announced, digital audiences have been waiting for when it will premiere. Applause Entertainment and Hansal Mehta Announced Second Installment of 'Scam' Franchise

After the huge success of "Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story", the makers of the series have announced the second installment of the "Scam" franchise, titled "Scam 2003: The Curious Case of Abdul Karim Telgi".## The production banner Applause Entertainment on Thursday (March 4) revealed its plans of launching a second season, which will be based on the story of Abdul Karim Telgi, the mastermind of the 2003 Stamp Paper scam. Just like the first installment, "Scam 2003" will also be directed by the National Award Winning director, Hansal Mehta. ## The show has been adapted from the Hindi book Reporter ki Diary, authored by journalist/news reporter Sanjay Singh, who is credited for breaking the scam story years ago. The series promises to be an intriguing watch as it will capture the life of Abdul Karim Telgi, born in Khanapur in Karnataka, and his journey to becoming the mastermind behind one of India's most ingenious scams spread across multiple states which shock the entire country. It is estimated that the scam value was around 20,000 crores. ## The production house has roped in the talented Kiran Yadnyopavit - known for his contribution to the Marathi film industry, to write and develop the story along with author Sanjay Singh.
