The numbers might go a little higher depending on the response in the smaller centres, but it is more or less likely to come in the estimated range. The opening of Param Sundari is a little better than Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya Mein, which had a similar genre and almost a similar release size. TBMAUJ went on to become a success story, and here, Param Sundari can achieve the same, as the initial reception seems to be good. Param Sundari managed to generate decent buzz through the trailer and songs, which worked with the young audience. Mumbai, March 6 - The 2016 crime drama Udta Punjab starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh is getting a sequel. The project is currently in the writing phase with production slated to begin next year. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, producer Ekta Kapoor has roped in Aakash Kaushik to write and direct Udta Punjab 2. Although the casting for the film will commence after the compilation of the script, Ekta is keen on bringing Shahid Kapoor back in the lead role.## The filmmaker reportedly briefly discussed the film with Shahid and the formal talks will happen soon. "The sequel will apparently feature a new storyline, with its only connection to the original being Punjab’s drug crisis", says the report.## Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Udta Punjab is a hard-hitting crime drama, deep-rooted to Punjab's drug crisis and its links to politics. Back in the day, the movie faced many challenges leading to its release and once it was released, it resonated with the audiences and became a box office hit with nearly 100 crores worldwide gross collection.## Udta Punjab 2 is one of the many more franchise sequels in the making in Bollywood. Films with franchise value are becoming a box office success guarantee post the COVID-19 pandemic.
