Sandeep Reddy Vanga Reveals Sai Pallavi Was First Choice For 'Arjun Reddy'

Hyderabad, February 3 - Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga rose to fame with this directorial debut movie Arjun Reddy (2017), a big blockbuster before it was re-made in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor as Kabir Singh which emerged as an even bigger success.## Arjun Reddy, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey, was unlike other romantic Telugu films with a higher level of intimacy. Both Arjun Reddy and Kabir Singh were huge box-office successes but at the same time, they received criticism for the toxic portrayal of the characters. ## Director Sandeep Vanga, who attended the pre-release event of Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi's Thandel on Sunday as the chief guest, revealed an interesting casting update on Arjun Reddy. The maverick filmmaker revealed that Sai Pallavi was the first choice for the female lead instead of Shalini Pandey, who won a lot of praise for her acting in the movie. ## The Animal director said that Sai Pallavi has been one of his favourites since Premam and he wanted to cast the actress opposite VD in Arjun Reddy. However, the director was rightly advised to rule her out by the Malayalam actor coordinator (whome the director later found as fake) as her personality is completely opposite to the character of Preethi in Arjun Reddy. ## It is widely known that Sai Pallavi, who has had a successful career so far, has refrained from doing intimate characters and has done more family-orientated roles in the movies. The coordinator mentioned that the actress would never agree to wear sleeveless outfits, let alone perform the romantic scenes required for the film. ## Vanga admired the actress for not changing since her early days despite becoming a successful star over the years. Yash Raj Films Locks OTT Platform For Its Thriller Series 'The Railway Men' and Film 'Maharaj'

Mumbai, September 15 - One of the leading Bollywood production houses, Yash Raj Films has had a super successful 2023 year, be it at the box office or the streamer. The studio is now gearing up for its next phase of theatrical tentpole as well as streaming titles.## It is known to everyone that YRF is working on a four-part thriller web series, titled "The Railway Men". It is about a tribute to the unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, during which, a cloud of toxic gas escaped from an American pesticide plant, in 1984, in the central Indian city of Bhopal. It killed and injured thousands of people. ## YRF has now partnered with the leading streaming platform Netflix to bring the series to the screens. The studio has joined hands with the OTT giant to set up a multi-year creative partnership. "The Railway Men", starring R. Box Office: KGF Chapter 2 Crosses 350 Crores Net In Hindi

Mumbai, April 30 - The new Bollywood releases on the Eid 2022 weekend were supposed to challenge "KGF Chapter 2" which is running riot at the Hindi box office. However, the lukewarm response to "Runway 34", and "Heropanti 2" has confirmed that KGF Chapter 2 will have another solid weekend at the box office. ## The Yash-fronted period action drama film did not lose grip and scored a solid third Friday (16th day) at the Hindi box office with 4.25 crores net. This takes the movie past 350 crores net (353.06cr), which is the second-fastest ever in Hindi. SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2 The Conclusion" still remains the fastest to reach the milestone of 350 crores net, in just 12 days. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, "KGF 2" is only the third film ever to cross 350 crores net in Hindi, and now, it is well and truly on to become only the second film to reach 400 crores, after "Baahuabli 2". Ranveer Singh Reveals He Was Approached For The Hindi Remake Of SS Rajamouli's 'Magadheera'

Mumbai, January 1 - Bollywood star Ranveer Singh is winning accolades for the portrayal of the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in the recently released "83" film. The Kabir Khan-directed, which is based on India's maiden ODI world cup triumph in 1983, is currently playing in theaters and nearing Rs. 150 crores at the worldwide box office. ## Ranveer Singh is one of the young Bollywood actors who has worked with some of the finest Bollywood directors in his little over a decade-long career. The 36-year old actor, however, has a desire to work with South Indian filmmakers and is fascinated by Southern films. He named some of his most favorite South Indian films - Mahanati, Super Deluxe, Kumbalangi Nights, Magadheera, among others. ## The "Padmaavat" actor in an interview with Film Companion revealed that he was approached for the Hindi remake of SS Rajamouli's blockbuster "Magadheera", starring Ram Charan in the lead role. While he didn't name the filmmaker he was approached by, Ranveer said that the filmmaker tried to remake Magadheera with him, but things didn't work out. ## "I wanted to do Magadheera for the longest time. Reincarnation is my jam! Magadheera has just such a cinematic flair. Somebody was trying to remake it with me. They gave me a VCD of Magadheera. Watching it in my room alone in the early hours one morning and I was crying and clapping. It's three in the morning and I’m alone in bed watching it on my television screen", said Ranveer. ## "That's the setting and I still find myself reacting so much to it. It was, at the time, one of the best cinematic experiences. I would have loved for the Magadheera remake to have worked out, but it didn't. But never say never. I am very interested in doing something with the reincarnation theme", he added. ## Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh will be teaming up with "Robot" director Shankar with the Hindi remake of "Anniyan". It will also feature Kiara Advani as the female lead and will be produced by Pen Studios and co-produced by God Bless Entertainment. The movie will go on floors in the second half of 2022. ## Apart from the "Anniyan" remake, Ranveer currently has three films in the pipeline. Mumbai, November 24 - The trailer of the much-awaited sports drama "Jersey", starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, was launched on Tuesday (November 23) during an event. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, "Jersey" is the official Hindi remake of a Nani-starrer Telugu movie of the same name. ## In the movie, Shahid Kapoor plays the role of a former cricket player who wants to get back to the game to inspire his son while Mrunal Thakur plays his wife. "Jersey" is one of the many films held back to release in theaters owning to the covid-19 pandemic. Despite many challenges, the movie is now gearing up for release on December 31st worldwide. ## Shahid, during the trailer launch event, said that he is feeling blessed that "Jersey" is releasing in theaters and also said that the team excitedly waiting for Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi to release first and do well at the box office. ## "Content is traveling in many different ways right now and I am so happy that I worked with this team. I feel very blessed today that we have a release date and that the film is releasing in theatres. One of the team's really cheering hard for Sooryavanshi was also team Jersey. We all just wanted Sooryavanshi to do well and business kick-starts again, so we all can release our films. It is great to see that films are back in theatres and congratulations to Sooryavanshi for having the guts to go out there and be the first in line", Shahid said.## "It is not easy to do that. It is not easy for any of us. Having shops shut for almost two years and thinking about what's going to happen was a very scary feeling. This film is about the triumph of the human spirit, so it has a great context for today's times. It is even more relevant today than it was when we started shooting it", he added.## "Jersey" is the second back-to-back remake of a Telugu film. His last release, "Kabir Singh", which became a mega-blockbuster at the box office, was the remake of Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey-starrer "Arjun Reddy". Shahid Kapoor shared how he has done various genres of films, but he finds doing remakes tough. ## "After Kabir Singh and Jersey, I have realized it is very difficult to do a remake, and sometimes even tougher than doing an original character because you have to make it fresh. Release Dates Of Much-Awaited Films Prithviraj, Laal Singh Chaddha, 83, Bachchan Pandey, Jersey, Among Others Announced

Mumbai, September 26 - The government of Maharashtra, on September 25, announced that the theaters in the state will be permitted to operate from October 22. The announcement came after filmmaker Rohit Shetty among others met the state CM and urged him to reopen theaters as it is the biggest market for Hindi films. ## Upon the good news, Shetty announced the release date of his long-awaited "Sooryavanshi" on Diwali this year. This actually paves the way for other filmmakers and studios to follow the suit and finalize the premiere dates of their pending films that include medium to big-budget films. ## Yash Raj Films was one of the firsts to announce the release dates of its four movies. Akshay Kumar and Manushi Chillar starrer historical drama film "Prithviraj" has been confirmed to debut in theaters on January 21, 2022. Jayeshbhai Jordaar, starring Ranveer Singh Shalini Pandey, will now hit theaters on 25 February 2022 while Ranbir Kapoor's "Shamshera" arrives on March 18, 2022. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", one of the highly awaited films starring superstar Aamir Khan, has been pushed to Valentine's Day weekend in 2022 from Christmas 2021. Meanwhile, the biopic sports drama "83" featuring Ranveer Singh has taken LSC's original date and is confirmed to arrive on Christmas 2021. ## Producer Sajid Nadiadwala also confirmed the arrival date of three of his upcoming films including "Tadap" (December 3), "Bachchan Pandey" (March 4), and "Heropanti 2" (May 6). After A Year Of Disappointment, Bollywood Gears Up To Woo Fans With Mega Announcements

It has almost been a year since the last big Bollywood star movie released in cinemas. Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer, Baaghi 3 was the last film released in theaters, on March 6, 2020, before the covid-19 pandemic stopped the world including the entertainment industry. However, after the lockdown lifted and theaters reopened, movies such as Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari, and Indoo Ki Jawani released but they couldn't woo the audience due to the lack of star power and the fear of coronavirus. ## Theater owners were (and still are) looking at Bollywood with a hopeful eye, while on the other hand, the filmmakers also wanted someone to take the first step before they go all guns blazing. And when things were looking dim, it was the Tamil film industry that paved the way for others to follow amid the fear of the virus. Thalapathy Vijay took a bold decision to release his action entertainer, Master in theaters, to provide a much-needed boost to the ailing Tamil film industry, and the rest, as they say, is history. Master grossed over INR 220 crores worldwide despite the 50% seating capacity of cinemas and emerged as a big blockbuster. ## Master filled enough confidence in the filmmakers of the different film industries which can be seen in the recent announcements. Over the past few days, Bollywood has made several mega announcements, outlining ambitious plans to release some of this year's most important projects in theatres, from next month to Diwali. While the first film, Roohi is yet to be released, these big announcements have created enough buzz to woo fans all over again. ## From Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan to John Abraham to Ranveer Singh, several top stars will headline big-budgeted films that cumulatively cost hundreds of crores. The effort is clearly to instill confidence in the minds of an audience that is still hesitant to return to theatres, in the aftermath of Covid lockdown.## Filmmaker Vishnuvardhan, whose directorial 'Shershaah' starring Sidharth Malhorta and Kiara Advani is slated to hit the theatres on July 4, feels the good show of the Vijay-starrer Tamil release Master has encouraged Bollywood producers to take the step.## "I feel that the confidence in the industry has come a little late. It was just the matter of one person initiating. Life looks normal outside and, of course, with necessary precautions, everything can be done.
