Did AR Murugadoss Blame Salman Khan For Sikandar's Box Office Failure?

Chennai, August 19 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss has been in the media headlines ever since his film, Sikandar with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, failed miserably at the box office and turned into one of the lowest-grossing films of the actor in many years. ## In one of the interviews, the Ghajini director reasoned that due to a language barrier, he couldn't properly execute his plans, which led to the downfall of the film. Now, a new report is circulating on social media where it is claiming that ARM blamed Salman for the film's box office failure. ## According to the many reports, referring to ARM's interview with Bhardwaj Ranjan, it is said that the filmmaker accused the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star of not coming on the set during the day, as they had to shoot the film only after 9 PM, even with school-going children. ## While it is true that ARM said the above thing, it is not entirely true that he put the blame on Salman. The filmmaker reasoned that due to death threats to the superstar (which are valid and genuine), they couldn't shoot the film during the day in open areas, and that is why they chose night schedules. ## Because of this unavoidable reason, the shooting of Sikandar had a lot of spot changes and involved CG work more than expected. Sikandar Director AR Murugadoss Responds To Why Tamil Cinema Is Not Able To Produce 1000 Crore Films

Chennai, August 18 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss, who last directed superstar Salman Khan's Sikandar, has been in the news for the past few weeks for various reasons. The director caught everyone's attention recently when he blamed the language barrier for the box office failure of Sikandar, even though he had delivered a couple of big blockbusters in Hindi. ## A few weeks after his statement regarding Sikandar's failure went viral, the Ghajini director gave another statement, which is making a lot of noise on social media. During the promotion of his upcoming film Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Murugadoss explained why Tamil films are not earning 1000 crores worldwide, while other top industries do. ## Speaking to Valaipechu Voice, the director observed that Tamil filmmakers approach cinema differently from their counterparts in other industries. "Filmmakers in other languages tend to concentrate on entertaining people only, whereas Tamil directors tend to view cinema from an educational standpoint," he said. ## He noted that "Tamil cinema typically carries messages of what viewers should or should not do, which impacts their commercial success," while stressing that "Tamil directors are not to be compared directly with filmmakers from other regions because their goals are different." ## Meanwhile, ARM's Madharaasi is scheduled to release on September 5. Another Roadblock For Director Atlee's Next?

Hyderabad, March 13 — Tamil director Atlee is next teaming up with superstar Allu Arjun after his collaboration with superstar Salman Khan didn't materialize for various reasons. It is a mega-budgeted epic film which reportedly demands a budget of over 600 crores. ## Tamil production house Sun Pictures was on board to bankroll this hugely-anticipated collaboration but it seems things are not moving as per the wish of director Atlee. It is said that the filmmaker is demanding 100 crores in remuneration for the movie and this is reportedly not working in his favour.## According to the latest rumours in Tamil media, Sun Pictures is hesitating and is likely to back out from producing this project. Prasad under the banner of Sri Lakshmi Movies. ## The title with the first look glimpse of the film was announced on February 17, on the occasion of the actor's birthday. Box Office Blockbuster 'Amaran' Sets Streaming Release Date

Chennai, November 30 - Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan has taken a giant step towards becoming the next big star in Tamil cinema with his latest war action drama film Amaran which has emerged as the biggest Tamil blockbuster of the year and one of the biggest in recent times. ## Released on October 31, the Rajkumar Periasamy's directorial has bossed the box office, grossing approximately 325 crores worldwide in 30 days so far. It is the second highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2024 after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## Amaran has benefitted from the extended theatrical window which has been normalized to just 4 weeks by the industry. The blockbuster run of the film prompted the makers to extend the window by 1 more week and it will now arrive after 35 days which is the first for a recent Tamil title. ## On Saturday (November 30), Netflix announced that Amaran would start streaming from December 5, which is 35 days after the theatrical release. Box Office: 'Amaran' Surpasses 300 Crore Gross Collection Worldwide

Chennai, November 19 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's biographical war action drama Amaran has entered the 300 crore club at the worldwide box office, becoming only the 8th Tamil movie of all time to achieve the milestone. ## The Rajkumar Periasamy's directorial venture topped the milestone on its 20th day (third Tuesday) as the total worldwide collection is expected to be around 301+ crores gross, including 224+ crores gross domestically and 77+ crores at the overseas box office. ## Amaran is the second Tamil movie after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time and 8th Indian title of 2024 to hit the box office milestone of 300 crores gross. It is the first for actor Sivakarthikeyan along with actress Sai Pallavi and director Periasamy to have this achievement. ## Produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International in association with Sony Pictures Films India, Amaran is easily one of the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema. Box Office: 'Amaran' Tops 200 Crore Gross Collection Domestically

Chennai, November 16 - Sivakarthikeyan's mega-blockbuster Amaran has unlocked one more milestone as it has become the second Tamil movie of 2024 to top 200 crores gross collection at the domestic box office after Thalapathy Vijay's The Greatest of All-Time. ## The movie, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, crossed the milestone on its 16th day after grossing another 4+ crores on the day. The total domestic collection after the third Friday stands at approximately 202 crores gross (175+ crores net). ## Amaran is expected to score a 100% jump on Saturday and then have another big day on Sunday as the third weekend is probably heading for around 20 crores gross which will take the total domestic collation to around 218+ crores gross.## Overseas, the biographical action drama has so far grossed an estimated 75 crores in 16 days and the movie has a chance to top 300 crores gross worldwide by the third Sunday. Amaran's Box Office Dominance Set To Hurt Suriya's 'Kanguva'

Chennai, November 12 - Tamil star Suriya's fantasy action drama film Kanguva is finally hitting the big screens this Thursday, November 14, as the anticipation soaring with release getting nearer. Directed by Siva, the movie has managed to generate good buzz with a superb promotional campaign. ## Recently, the makers announced that Kanguva would be released on over 10K screens worldwide, making it the widest release for a Tamil title. However, it may face a significant challenge, especially in the home state, Tamil Nadu due to fellow Tamil movie Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan. ## Amaran was released during Diwali weekend and in just 12 days, it has surpassed 250 crores collection, at the worldwide box office, including 120+ crores gross in Tamil Nadu and emerged as a huge blockbuster. This dominance is causing trouble for Kanguva in securing enough screens in Tamil Nadu. ## It was assumed that the Suriya-starrer would be released on over 800 screens in Tamil Nadu, however, the latest development indicates that the movie will get only 50% of available screens due to Amaran which is performing exceptionally well in the state and is set to retain a good number of screens after Kanguva release. ## It hasn't been smooth sailing for Kanguva so far. The movie was supposed to be released on October 10 but was forced to postpone due to superstar Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan which eventually turned into a flop venture. And a month later, things haven't improved much for this particular film though the reason this time is fortunately solid. ## Amaran being a dominant force at the box office deserves to retain a good number of screens, at least, for a month and so does Kanguva which has let go of a lucrative box office slot for another movie. Box Office Blockbuster 'Amaran' OTT Release Pushed But Not By Much

Chennai, November 11 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's biographical war action drama film Amaran is doing wonders at the box office and is marching towards 300 crores worldwide. The movie has exceeded expectations and is now the second-biggest Tamil grosser of 2024. ## Since the movie is performing exceptionally well, it is learned that its OTT release date is set to be extended by a week and it will now arrive digitally after 5 weeks (35 days). Netflix is reportedly the post-theatrical OTT partner in all languages. ## It is said that just like other Tamil films, Amaran was originally supposed to start streaming after 4 weeks (28 days) and this is probably the first instance of a Tamil title that the theatrical window being extended in recent times, but the question arises whether the extension is good enough. ## Post the Covid-19 pandemic, South Indian films, especially Tamil and Telugu, have been restricted to the 4-week theatrical window, a practice which has received criticism from theatre owners. Box Office: 'Amaran' Tops 200 Crore Worldwide And 100 Crore In Tamil Nadu

Chennai, November 9 - Actor Sivakarthikeyan has entered the elite league of Tamil stars to have 200 crore worldwide grosser and 100 crore Tamil Nadu grosser as his latest blockbuster Amaran achieved both milestones on the same day.## The biographical war action drama film is having a sectional second Saturday (10th day) at the domestic as well as overseas box office and with this, it has surpassed the milestone of 200 crores worldwide collection, making it the first for Sivakarthikeyan.## Until the second Friday (9 days), the movie grossed approximately 197.50 crores worldwide, including 140.50 crores in India in all versions. The domestic gross included approximately 95 crores at the Tamil Nadu box office and with the second Saturday collection, it has entered the 100 crore club in the state, again the first for the actor. ## Apart from Sivakarthikeyan, Amaran is also the first 200 crores grosser for actress Sai Pallavi and director Rajkumar Periasamy.
