HBO Max's 'The Last Of Us' Season 1 Sees Record Viewership

Los Angeles, March 14 - HBO Max's post-apocalyptic drama series The Last Of Us Season 1 concludes on record viewership numbers. The Season 1 finale of the show drew 8.2 million viewers in the US across HBO's linear channel and digital platforms on Sunday, according to Deadline. ## The 8.2 million viewers are the highest same-day count for the series. The final episode viewership of the show is ahead of 8.1 million of the second last episode last week despite competing with the Oscars. At the same time, the final episode records a 74% increase over the first episode, which scored 4.7 million viewers on its first day. ## The average audience for The Last Of Us' first 6 episodes is about 30.4 million viewers across all platforms, with the first episode inching towards 40 million viewers. On the other hand, the viewership of the series outside the US is the highest ever in the history of HBO Max in both Europe and Latin America. Data, however, is not revealed for the outside markets. ## The Last Of Us is one of the highest-rated shows for any platform with a 96% critics score and 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Its viewership has been setting records with each episode scoring higher viewers than the previous one. ## Starring Pedro Pascal, and Bella Ramsey, the series is based on the PlayStation game. It takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. 'The Last of Us' Scores Second Biggest Premiere Viewership On HBO Max

Los Angeles, January 19 - HBO Max has a new winner in its hands as the series adaptation of the hit PlayStation game The Last of Us scores second biggest-ever premiere viewership on the streamer. ## According to Variety, "The Last of Us" scored 10 million views within two days after debuting on Sunday with 4.7 million views, which is the second biggest for HBO Max, behind only "House Of The Dragon's" 10 million. The viewership numbers are only for the US audience as HBO Max doesn't disclose global stats. ## "The Last of Us" viewership topped "Game of Thrones" which garnered just 4.2 million premiere viewers in 2011. Sunday numbers for "The Last of Us" were nearly double the Season 2 premiere night returns for "Euphoria", HBO's biggest modern-day hit next to "House of the Dragon", per Variety. ## "We are thrilled to see fans of the series and game alike experience this iconic story in a new way, and we extend our gratitude to them for helping to make it a success", Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO & HBO Max Content, said.## The show is premiering on Disney Plus Hotstar in India with English subtitles.
