Netflix Top 10: Akshay Kumar's 'Mission Raniganj' Emerged as Most Watched Non-English Film Worldwide On Netflix On December 4-10 Week

Mumbai, December 13 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's rescue thriller Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue was the most-watched non-English film worldwide on Netflix during the week of December 4 - December 10, and also crossed 10 million viewing hours in the first 10 days. ## Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, "Mission Raniganj" scored 5.7 million viewing hours from 2.5 million views on Netflix during the said week. It was the 5th most-watched non-English title on the streamer in its opening weekend with 5.5 million viewing hours from 2.4 million views.## The total viewing hours of the movie are now 11.20 million from 4.9 million views. The film is trending in the top 10 in 14 countries, including number 1 in India, Oman, and Pakistan. Outside Asia, "Mission Raniganj" is trending at number 10 in Nigeria and number 6 in Mauritius. ## Meanwhile, Zoya Akhtar's "The Archies" which was directly released on Netflix on December 7, scored 5.2 million viewing hours from 2.2 million views in its opening weekend and was the third most-watched non-English film worldwide. The movie received poor reviews from critics and OTT audiences. ## Another Indian film in the top 10 was Bhumi Padnekar and Shehnaaz Gill's "Thank You for Coming" at number 7. 'Mission Raniganj' Final Worldwide Box Office Collection

Mumbai, November 10 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar's rescue thriller Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue has almost completed its theatrical run with underwhelming box office numbers given the star cast it got featured. ## Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, "Mission Raniganj" was the least promoted theatrical film of Akshay Kumar and with less to no hype, the movie opened at 2.80 crores net. The opening of the movie was one of the lowest ever for an Akshay Kumar-starrer. The movie did show some growth over the first weekend but wasn't enough as the collection remained low. ## "Mission Raniganj" got mixed to positive reception from the critics and audiences which kept it in theaters and after 5 weeks, the movie scored over 34 crores net collection. Though the box office numbers of the film are no way near the potential of the Akshay Kumar-starrer it is still respectable given the low opening. ## Produced by Pooja Entertainment, the film is currently playing in around 100 shows which will be reduced to almost zero after the release of Salman Khan's "Tiger 3" on November 12. Mumbai, July 19 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar would be teaming up with "Pati Patni Aur Woh" director Mudassar Aziz for a comedy-drama film. The movie is reportedly titled "Khel Khel Mein" and has Tapsee Pannu and Vaani Kapoor as the female leads. ## According to Pinkvilla, "Khel Khel Mein" is the official Hindi adaptation of a blockbuster Italian movie "Perfect Strangers" (2016). It was a critically as well as commercially successful movie, grossing over $32 million, and has already been remade in more than 20 countries. ## "Mudassar Aziz has been eager to make an Indian version of it for a long time and has adapted the screenplay in a desi style to suit the sensibilities of Indian audiences", the report says, adding that the shoot will commence in October this year and it will be shot in a two-month straight schedule in the UK. ## The movie was supposed to go on floors early this year but the production got delayed due to Akshay's other commitments. Mumbai, June 14 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar reunites with his "Rustom" director Tinu Suresh Desai for a rescue thriller film which has been titled The Great Indian Rescue. ## The film is based on a mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who rescued 64 miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989. It is a detailed adaptation of the incident in which Akshay Kumar plays the role of Jaswant Singh Gill while Parineeti Chopra features as the female lead. ## On Wednesday (June 14), the makers confirmed the release date of "The Great Indian Rescue". Mumbai, July 8 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar has commenced the filming of his much-talked-about biographical drama film, tentatively titled "Capsule Gill", in the UK. Tinu Suresh Desai, who previously directed Akshay in "Rustom" (2016), is directing this Pooja Entertainment production. ## "Capsule Gill", is based on the real-life story of mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill who saved the lives of 64 miners who were trapped in a mine at Raniganj Coalfields in eastern India in 1989, with Akshay Kumar playing Gill in the movie.## Meanwhile, a picture of Akshay Kumar while shooting for the movie has been leaked online. According to Variety, the image was clicked on set by a Kumar fan in a Yorkshire field while the crew was filming, despite Pooja Entertainment keeping the security tight and the location isolated. ## It is said that the upcoming movie is the biggest Indian production in terms of scale to take place in the U.K. yet, as Pooja Entertainment has reportedly blocked over 100 acres for the shooting of the film.
