Ayushmann Khurrana has established himself as an actor who doesn't afraid of choosing hard-hitting social drama films such as Article 15, Shubh Mangal Savdhaan, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, and Vicky Donor. And there is no debate when she credits his films Vicky Donor and Dum Laga Ke Haisha for triggering his journey to stardom.## "The success of Vicky Donor and then Dum Laga Ke Haisha told me that the audience wanted to have a different experience in the theatre and that their taste was changing. They wanted to have a different form of engagement at the movies. They wanted to have a conversation, have a debate, and take back an uplifting message home", said Ayushmann according to Sify.## Vicky Donor was Ayushmann's debut film in which he played the character of a sperm donor. The film was critically acclaimed. He says films such as Vicky Donor, and Dum Laga Ke Haisha have been the voice of his beliefs and sensibilities, and have enabled him to write his own destiny in this industry. ## "I never looked back after Dum Laga Ke Haisha and so, it will always be a super special one for my career, for my life. It bolstered my belief that I was on the right path of selecting films that spark a conversation. I will forever be indebted to Adi (producer Aditya Chopra) sir, (producer) Maneesh Sharma, and (director) Sharat Katariya for bringing this film to me", he added.## Ayushmann says these types of films have shaped his position as an artiste who wants to walk the road less traveled and constantly experiment with genres and subjects. His upcoming films are "Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui" is a new-age romantic emotional drama film, scheduled to release on 9 July 2021. The actor will also be starring in his "Article 15" director, Anubhav Sinha's next directorial, "ANEK" which is a thriller movie. Yami Gautam: 'Vicky Donor' taught me to be fearless in my choices

Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) Actress Yami Gautam gets nostalgic looking back at her Bollywood debut film "Vicky Donor", which opened eight years ago on this day. She says the film that dealt with sperm donation and infertility, taught her to listen to her instincts and be fearless in her choices.## "What made the film so memorable is the team that collaborated together. It was one of the most memorable shoots in terms of learning team collaboration. Everybody was so energetic, giving and supportive of each other," she recalled.## Yami shared that the film led her to root for roles that have substance.## "It helped me explore myself as an actor. I remember the process of preparing for 'Vicky Donor'. We had workshops and we were so thorough with the script. After packing up we would sit with Shoojit da (Sircar)and Juhi (Chaturvedi) and work on upcoming scenes. It taught me to listen to my instincts and be fearless in my choices. It was a path-breaking script. I credit the film for strengthening my desire to be part of such stories that have depth and impact," she said.## She said the film's director Shoojit Sircar was one of the main reasons why she had said yes to the movie.## "I had watched 'Yahaan' and I thought it was a beautiful film. When I had just heard the concept of 'Vicky Donor' and I had auditioned for it, my instincts said 'I wish I get this part'. The concept was so fresh and the script was so funny," Yami recalled.## "Not many newcomers get to play such roles. When I got the part I was so happy and I knew it was going to be something special. I was very fortunate to have been directed by Shoojit da in my first film. Ayushmann: Grateful to industry for welcoming an outsider like me

Mumbai, April 20 (IANS) Ayushmann Khurrana's debut film "Vicky Donor" released eight years ago on this day. Looking back at eight eventful years, the actor says he is grateful to Bollywood for welcoming an outsider like him with open arms.## "It has been a gratifying, humbling and thrilling eight years and I would not want to change anything about it. I only have gratitude to the universe for enabling me to chase my dreams. It wasn't easy, it had its share of tears and lack of self-confidence but it sure has been super exciting," Ayushmann said.## Ever since his debut, Ayushmann has always picked unconventional themes that often bank on taboo topics, like the sperm donor in "Vicky Donor", or the man with erectile dysfunction in "Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan", the prematurely balding youth of "Bala" or and the gay man in "Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan".## He has even had his share of misses, of course, by way of "Nautanki Saala!", "Bewakoofiyaan" and "Hawaizaada".## The National Award-winning actor says he has several things to be grateful for in his journey to stardom.## "I'm grateful to the industry for welcoming an outsider like me with open arms, I'm thankful to all the visionary film-makers who made me a part of their stories because whatever I'm today is because of them. I'm also supremely thankful to the audiences for loving my work and constantly validating my film choices with so much affection."## "They have told me when I have been correct in choosing the best content films and I have learned from them when I have faltered," he says.## Ayushmann is clear that he wants to back the best cinema that is being made by the industry.## "For me, the past eight years have only been about growth and my journey in cinema has just started. I wish to back the best films that will be made in the Hindi film industry and be a part of the phenomenal visions of the leading storytellers of my generation. I can't wait to know what my future holds for me," he said.## For Ayushmann, the responsibility to deliver great cinema to audiences drives him tremendously.## The actor said: "I realize the responsibility I have today to deliver good cinema because audiences expect my films to be differential and clutter-breaking but I'm relishing this expectation.
