Shah Rukh Khan's King To Not Release On Gandhi Jayanti 2026? Possible New Date Revealed

Mumbai, August 27 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in director Rajkumar Hirani's comedy drama, Dunki, in December 2023. Since then, he has been working on his next, which is an action thriller King, with his Pathaan director Siddharth Anand. King went on floors in June this year, but an unfortunate shoulder injury to Shah Rukh Khan, which he sustained while filming for an action sequence, has proved to be a roadblock. King Khan was advised to rest for a couple of months before he resumes filming, and that has reportedly altered the release plans. According to the report by Mid-day, King, which was reportedly eying the Gandhi Jayanti 2026 release, has now been pushed back due to a delay in the shoot. "Shah Rukh needs to rest it out for weeks before he can face the camera again. It is an action-heavy film, so the team doesn’t want to take a chance with his health", says the report. While the official release date has not been announced yet, a recent report by peepingmoon.com suggested that Shah Rukh Khan and director Anand are eyeing Christmas 2026 as the possible theatrical release date. The chances have become bright for this date after the postponement of Vicky Kaushal's ambitious Mahavatar. Produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix, King marks SRK's first screen outing with daughter Suhana Khan, who makes her big screen debut with this. The film also stars Deepika Padukone as the female lead alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arshad Warsi, and Abhay Verma in key roles. Stay tuned...

Big Change: Maddock Films' Ambitious Mahavatar Opts Out of Christmas 2026 Slot Amid Vicky Kaushal's Scheduling Conflict

Mumbai, August 25 - Vicky Kaushal's ambitious epic action drama Mahavatar is no longer releasing on Christmas 2026, as the makers have reportedly postponed it to 2027 amid the shooting delay. The lucrative festive holiday period is now vacant for other films to occupy. According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Mahavatar shoot has been delayed to next year amid Kaushal's scheduling conflict. To be directed by Amar Kaushik, the film was originally planned to start rolling by the end of 2025, which is reportedly not happening as the actor's Love and War with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is taking longer than expected to wrap. Apart from scheduling conflict with Love and War, Vicky Kaushal will also have to undergo months of intensive physical training to achieve the muscular physique necessary for his role in Mahavatar, which is based on Lord Parashurama. The report says that the makers are now eyeing to take the film on floors by April 2026. Produced by Maddock Films, Mahavatar is expected to be shot over a period of 6 months, followed by lengthy post-production work due to its heavy reliance on VFX. While the studio has not locked a new release date yet, the report says it might hit the big screen on Independence Day weekend 2027. If that happens, then the studio's Stree 3, which is currently slated for the same weekend, will be delayed. Mahavatar is the most ambitious production of Maddock Films yet, and the studio is leaving no stone unturned to make a visual spectacle on the big screens. In the movie, Vicky plays Lord Parashurama, who is the sixth avatar among the Dashavatara of the preserver god Vishnu. He is one of the Chiranjivi (Immortals), who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to be the guru of Vishnu's tenth and last incarnation, Kalki. Stay tuned...

Top 10 Biggest Indian Overseas Grossers of 2025: Rajinikanth's Coolie Rules the Charts

Mumbai, August 31 - 2025 has turned into a good year so far for Indian films in the overseas market, with movies from the Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam industries making a splash at the global box office. From grand romantic sagas to star-powered action blockbusters, audiences across the world have embraced Indian cinema like never before. Sun Pictures' gangster action drama, Coolie, starring superstar Rajinikanth, was released on August 14, and within no time, it has stormed to the top spot among the biggest Indian grossers at the overseas box office. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film is yet to complete its first weekend, already grossing over 150 crores overseas in 5 days. Yash Raj Films' romantic drama, Saiyaara, starring debutante Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, became a global sensation. This has been the biggest success story of Indian cinema this year. Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara blended soulful music, passionate storytelling, and stunning visuals, making it a cross-cultural hit. The film's theme connected not only with Indian audiences but across the world, making it the biggest Indian blockbuster in the international market. The Malayalam megahit, Empuraan, starring Mohanlal and directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, was hit by controversy in India, but that didn't stop it from making a big hit at the box office, not just in India but also internationally. It continued the Lucifer saga with high-octane political intrigue and action. The film’s international fan base, built from the first part, turned Empuraan into a global blockbuster. Thudarum, one of the biggest Malayalam blockbusters in recent times, stunned the trade and went on to score big at the box office. The action thriller, starring Mohanlal, did wonders globally and became one of only three Malayalam titles to cross 200 crores worldwide, including close to 100 crores gross from overseas markets. The historical epic, Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, impressed both domestic and global audiences and is currently the biggest Indian grosser worldwide with over 800 crores in collection. This Laxman Utekar's directorial's grand battle sequences, rich production design, and a patriotic storyline drove its stellar overseas run with close to 100 crores gross. Housefull 5, Bollywood's favourite comedy franchise, returned bigger and zanier. Despite the disappointment of not living up to expectations, this Akshay Kumar-led film did decently at the box office and is so far among the top overseas grossers. The film's mixed slapstick humour, exotic locations, and star power captured the attention of family audiences abroad, especially in the Gulf and the UK. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Good Bad Ugly marked a major comeback for superstar Ajith Kumar, after the big failure of Vidaamuyarchi. Ajith's vintage avatar in the movie was celebrated by the fans worldwide. It became the first film of the actor to hit 200 crores worldwide gross, including a good performance in overseas markets. War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has underperformed at the box office, be it domestic or overseas. In the first 5 days, the film grossed approximately 63 crores internationally. The movie is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Yash Raj Films. After the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan returned to winning ways with Sitaare Zameen Par, a heartfelt comedy-drama that follows a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament. Just like Ajith Kumar, SZP proved to be a comeback movie for Aamir Khan by emerging as a box office hit in India and overseas. Sikandar, one of the major letdowns of the year, this Salman Khan-led action drama failed to perform to expectations despite featuring among the top 10 biggest overseas grossers. Directed by a seasoned director like AR Murugadoss, Sikandar finished below 200 crores worldwide, while its overseas performance was also not good. What Sikandar proved for Bollywood, Thug Life met the same fate for Kollywood. Kamal Haasan's much-awaited action-thriller, directed by Mani Ratnam, blended artful filmmaking with mass entertainment. The film's international premieres were major events, boosting its overseas revenue. However, it turned into a big disaster, failing to capitalise on the huge buzz. Before scoring his biggest grosser with Good Bad Ugly, Ajith Kumar had a big setback with the action-drama Vidamuyarchi. It was among the biggest failures. With heavyweights like War 2 and Coolie yet to arrive, the overseas box office race of 2025 is far from over. But for now, Saiyaara sits at the top, proving that heartfelt romance can still rule the world stage in the age of action spectacles. Stay tuned...

Box Office 2025: Chhaava’s Historic ₹600 Cr Run, Saiyaara’s Pre-Booking Frenzy, and the Unstoppable Wave of This Year’s Highest Grossers

1. Chhaava – ₹807.88 crore - Chhaava was the powerful story of a brave hero, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the valiant son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. After Shivaji’s death in 1680, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, played by Akshaye Khanna, and his court rejoiced, believing their fiercest enemy was gone. Confident and emboldened, they dreamed of capturing the Deccan region. But their joy was short-lived when Sambhaji Maharaj, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal, delivered a stunning blow— raiding Burhanpur and looting the Mughal treasury. Enraged, Aurangzeb swore revenge. Anticipating a Mughal retaliation, Sambhaji made strategic preparations to protect his kingdom. However, what he did not foresee was the betrayal within his own family—internal politics that made it easier for Aurangzeb to advance. What followed was a gripping tale of war, sacrifice, and the unwavering spirit of a leader who refused to surrender. ## Chhaava had not only captivated audiences but also rewritten the box office record books. With a staggering ₹600.10 crore at the domestic box office, it became Vicky Kaushal’s highest-grossing film to date, surpassing all his previous works and reaffirming his status as one of the most bankable stars of his generation. The film entered Bollywood’s most elite league, becoming only the fourth Indian film to cross the ₹600 crore mark domestically, joining the ranks of Pushpa 2: The Rule, Jawan, and Stree 2. ## This historic success also marked a milestone for Rashmika Mandanna, who etched her name in box office history. With Chhaava crossing ₹500 crore, she became the only actress with three consecutive blockbusters crossing the ₹500 crore mark. Her previous two hits—Animal and Pushpa 2: The Rule - combined with Chhaava, completed a unique and unmatched hat-trick, cementing her position as one of the most formidable stars in Indian cinema. Chhaava was not just a film—it was a cinematic triumph that blended legacy, valour, and mass appeal into an unforgettable experience.## 2. Saiyaara – ₹512crore - Saiyaara was a film of many firsts—it marked the much-anticipated acting debut of Ahaan Panday, the first collaboration between acclaimed director Mohit Suri and Yash Raj Films (YRF), and also the producing debut of Akshaye Widhani. Moreover, it held the distinction of being the first YRF theatrical release with Netflix as its official OTT partner. ## The story revolved around Vaani Batra (Aneet Padda), a closet poet heartbroken after being abandoned at the altar, who later crossed paths with Krish Kapoor (Ahaan Panday), an aspiring singer with a temper and a passion for music. When Krish read one of Vaani’s poems, he was mesmerised and invited her to write lyrics for his songs. As they worked together, love blossomed, but their relationship faced unexpected challenges, forming the emotional core of the narrative. ## In what could only be described as a spectacular dream run, Saiyaara crossed the ₹500-crore mark at the worldwide box office within just 18 days of its theatrical release, firmly establishing itself as one of the year’s biggest successes. Starring debutant Ahaan Panday alongside Aneet Padda, the romantic action drama became the second film of 2025 to enter the elite ₹500 Crore club, following the record-breaking Chhaava. Saiyaara also made headlines for its massive pre-release buzz, emerging as the highest pre-booked film among several top titles. Saiyaara had registered the highest number of pre-bookings. At that time, it ranked 28th among the top booking grossers at MovieMax. ## Some of the films ahead of it included Jurassic World: Rebirth (2,087 tickets), Badass Ravi Kumar (2,400 tickets; benefited from the Rs. 99 offer), Fighter (2,850 tickets), Sikandar (3,700 tickets), Kalki 2898 AD (5,100 tickets), Dunki (6,300 tickets), Brahmastra (6,500 tickets), Singham Again (7,000 tickets), Jawan (17,500 tickets), Animal (18,600 tickets), Stree 2 (21,870 tickets), Chhaava (21,900 tickets), and Pushpa 2 – The Rule (22,500 tickets). Meanwhile, Saiyaara had surpassed prominent films like Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (1,400 tickets), Sitaare Zameen Par (1,262 tickets), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1,175 tickets), and Kesari Chapter 2 (1,146 tickets).## Housefull 5– ₹288.58 crore - Akshay Kumar’s madcap entertainer Housefull 5 stormed into cinemas with an explosive start, collecting ₹24.35 crore on its opening day. This thunderous debut rewrote the franchise’s record books, surpassing all previous instalments by a wide margin. The journey had begun with Housefull (2010) at ₹10 crore, followed by Housefull 2 (2012) at ₹14 crore, Housefull 3 (2016) at ₹15.21 crore, and Housefull 4 (2019) at ₹16.50 crore—making the fifth chapter the undisputed champion of the series and another box-office triumph for Akshay Kumar. ##The film also achieved good success globally, becoming Akshay Kumar’s widest international release. It played in over 85 countries, reached more than 1,300 venues, and ran on over 2,000 screens worldwide—a new benchmark for both the star and the franchise that reflected its massive global appeal. The story unfolds on a luxury cruise owned by Ranjeet Dobriyal, Britain’s seventh-richest man, during his 100th birthday celebration. After Ranjeet’s sudden death, his will names a son from his first marriage—Jolly—as heir. Chaos erupts when three different men claim to be Jolly, each with a wife in tow. A DNA test is planned, but a night of wild partying ends with the murder of a doctor. Two quirky detectives board the ship to unravel the mystery, leading to a storm of mistaken identities, comic twists, and revelations on the high seas.## ## Sitaare Zameen Par – ₹267.34 crore - Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par was a heartfelt Hindi drama directed by RS Prasanna and starred Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh, marking her much-anticipated comeback after 13 years. The film brought together a talented ensemble cast in a story that blended emotional depth with an inspiring message, while also breaking new ground in accessibility, making it a cinematic experience for audiences of all abilities. In the last quarter of the millennium, ‘mainstream’ Hindi cinema had evolved to mean far more than standard (and sometimes substandard) entertainers. A growing segment of these films focused on stories—mostly fictional—about people with medical afflictions and disabilities. ## Just recently, audiences had seen the sensitive Tanvi—The Great, which explored autism with depth and compassion. For films built around such themes, disabilities needed to be portrayed in a positive and wholesomely compassionate light—avoiding frivolity, as seen in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan (on blindness), or the kind of opportunistic, artificially convenient depiction found in Saiyaara. The balance needed to ensure that the ‘entertainment quotient’ worked in harmony with the ‘emotional quotient’ and, importantly, the ‘intelligence quotient’. ## Encouragingly, most films in this space had not only succeeded commercially but had also enhanced awareness, understanding, and acceptance of individuals facing such challenges. Marking a significant moment in this movement was Genelia Deshmukh’s return to cinema after 13 years in Sitaare Zameen Par, produced by Aamir Khan. In a groundbreaking achievement for global cinema, the film became the first in the world to feature all major accessibility features—closed captions, audio description, and Indian Sign Language—ensuring that audiences with visual, hearing, or speech impairments could experience it with dignity and independence.## This heartfelt drama had a strong start, opening to ₹10.50 crore on Day 1, followed by an impressive overseas opening weekend collection of 3.10 million USD (₹26.83 crore), underscoring that films with both emotional depth and inclusive vision resonated powerfully across borders.## Raid 2 – ₹237 crore - Starring Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Vaani Kapoor, and Rajat Kapoor, and directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 emerged as the 42nd success and 17th hit for Ajay Devgn. The movie followed Income Tax Officer Amay Patnaik in 1989 as he was transferred to Bhoj after a controversial raid in Jaipur. There, he confronted influential cabinet minister Manohar Dhankar, aka Dada Bhai, a revered figure who was secretly steeped in corruption. Determined to expose him, Amay launched a massive raid, only to find nothing, forcing him to change tactics against his shrewdest opponent yet. What followed was a gripping battle of wits, strategy, and perseverance to bring the untouchable politician to justice. The movie was released on Netflix on June 26 and received a strong audience response for its gripping drama and performances. However, Raid 2 It couldn’t impress much compared to its predecessor. ## In the end, this season proved to be a milestone period for Indian cinema, with each film carving its mark at the box office. Chhaava emerged as the undisputed champion, not just for its gripping portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj but also for rewriting history with over ₹600 crore domestically and cementing Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s records. Saiyaara made waves with its exceptional pre-booking numbers, holding its own against major blockbusters and delivering a solid opening that justified the early hype. Sitaare Zameen Par, Raid 2, and Housefull 5 also had their moments—drawing in crowds with their unique appeal and contributing to a vibrant, competitive box office. Together, these films demonstrated the diversity of storytelling and star power in today’s industry—proving that whether it’s historical grandeur, high-octane thrillers, or light-hearted entertainers, audiences are willing to show up in massive numbers when the big screen delivers a memorable experience. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Saiyaara' First Tuesday (Day 5) Early Estimates; Surpasses Monday Collection

Mumbai, July 23 - There seems to be no stopping Saiyaara, which continues its historic run at the box office since its release on July 18. After a stellar opening weekend and an impressive hold on its first Monday, the Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda-starrer has taken another leap on Tuesday, posting even higher collections. ## According to early estimates, Saiyaara has collected in the range of 24–26 crore net on Day 5 (Tuesday), witnessing a 5%–10% jump from Monday. The romantic drama benefited significantly from the discounted ticket pricing offer, driving footfalls across urban and mass belts. ## With this jump, the film is now challenging the Tuesday collection of Vicky Kaushal’s blockbuster Chhaava, which earned 25.25 crore on its first Tuesday. It may even come close to Saiyaara's own Saturday figures (26 crore net), depending on where the actuals land. ## Importantly, average occupancy has remained strong at around 50%, which has been a rare case this year. As of the end of Tuesday, Saiyaara has amassed 132+ crore net domestically. With two more days left in the week, the film is expected to finish its first-week total with 160 crore or more — the highest-ever for a debutant-led Indian film. ## Advance bookings for Wednesday are also reportedly excellent, pointing toward another big day ahead. The absence of major competition is aiding the film's momentum; however, with the kind of phenomenon it has turned into, it would still be performing on the same level. ## Stay tuned...
