Saiyaara Breakout Star Aneet Padda To Lead Maddock Films' Next Horror-Comedy Shakti Shalini, Replaces Kiara Advani

Mumbai, September 19 - Debutante actress Aneet Padda became an overnight sensation after the success of Saiyaara under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It was not only a dream debut for the actress, but it also announced the arrival of a new female star who scored praise for her acting skills. Well, it didn't take long for Aneet to bag her next big project as he has been roped in to headline Maddock Films' next horror comedy Shakit Shalini. According to the report by Pinkvilla, Aneet Padda will spearhead Shakti Shalini and has already completed the look test for the film. It is said that producer Dinesh Vijan was on the lookout to infuse his universe with new energies, and multiple actresses were in the race to lead the film, but it's Aneet who has made it to the finish line. She has replaced Kiara Advani, who was originally cast, but she is no longer doing the film for reasons best known to the stakeholders. The director for Shakti Shalini is not finalised yet, but Dinesh Vijan is keen to rope in Munjya fame Aditya Sarpotdar, who is also the director of Maddock's upcoming horror-comedy universe film Thama. The shoot of the Shakti Shalini, which will be the next film after Thama (Diwali 2025), is expected to start by the end of this year. After Shakti Shalini, Maddock has Chamunda in the pipeline with Alia Bhatt in the lead. Superstar Yash-fronted Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups Complete Star Cast (So far)

Bengaluru, September 9 - Superstar Yash's highly anticipated gangster action thriller Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious pan-India films in recent times, with a huge ensemble, dominated by female leads, coming on board. Alongside Yash's towering presence, the film is powered by a dynamic ensemble of celebrated performers from across industries. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic features Kiara Advani as the female lead, who is reportedly playing Yash's love interest. Known for balancing glamour with depth in her performances, Kiara's role is expected to be more than just ornamental, adding emotional weight to the storyline. South lady superstar Nayanthara has reportedly been roped in to play the role of Yash's sister, a character said to be pivotal in driving the emotional arc of the gangster saga. The film also ropes in Tara Sutaria, marking one of her most intriguing roles yet, as early reports hint at her character sharing a sharp rivalry with Kiara's. Huma Qureshi reportedly joins the cast as the antagonist. With her recent track record of strong, layered portrayals, Huma's casting adds serious heft to the villain's side of the story. Adding further depth to the ensemble are Rukmini Vasanth, one of the most happening stars in South Indian cinema, along with Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair. While their exact character details are still under wraps, all three actors are known for choosing unconventional roles and bringing subtle nuance to their performances. Apart from the stellar cast (so far), the makers have roped in some of the best international crew to sharpen the technical aspect of the film. Hollywood action choreographer J.J. Perry is working on the film. With such talents attached to it, Toxic is poised to be more than just another gangster film. It promises a mix of style, substance, and strong performances, making its 2026 release one of the most eagerly awaited cinematic events. Produced by Yash under his banner Monster Mind Creations in association with KVN Productions, Toxic is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, on the occasion of Eid. Stay tuned...

Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2 Beats Director Siddharth Anand's Fighter, But Is This Really Worth Celebrating?

Mumbai, August 28 - It has been a tough theatrical journey for Yash Raj Films' highly anticipated War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani. The spy action thriller was expected to rewrite box office history, but things didn't go as planned, and as a result, it has bombed with an underwhelming collection. Released ahead of the big Independence Day holiday, the Ayan Mukerji's directorial took an underwhelming opening in India and overseas, and despite the big growth on day 2, it couldn't fly due to poor reviews and mixed word of mouth. It is now heading towards finishing below 400 crores worldwide as the second-lowest film in the YRF's Spy Universe. Amid the gloomy box office run, War 2 (350 crores) will manage to beat Hrithik Roshan's Fighter (359 crores), directed by Siddharth Anand, in a day or two, and will finish as either the second or third biggest grosser of the Bollywood star. Meanwhile, in terms of the number of tickets sold, War 2 has already beaten Fighter. During its theatrical run, Fighter had sold 3.68 million tickets on the online ticketing platform Book My Show, and now, War 2 has crossed this figure in 13 days. In terms of overall tickets, Fighter had sold around 1.16 crores tickets, while War 2 has so far sold 1.12 crores and will cross Fighter's number in a day or two. However, these mini milestones don't have much importance as War 2 is way ahead of Fighter in terms of scale, budget and star power. In terms of the Hindi box office, the YRF's biggie will finish behind Fighter, which can be termed as shocking. The film's success could've done wonders for the Spy Universe, but now, it is heading towards the days of uncertainty, with future projects getting pushed indefinitely. Stay tuned...

War 2's Box Office Result Alters YRF's Ambitious Spy Universe Plans For Jr. NTR

Mumbai, August 26 - Yash Raj Films' ambitious Spy Universe is heading into the days of uncertainty after the underwhelming results of Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-fronted War 2, along with Salman Khan's Tiger 3 at the box office. Particularly, the War 2's box office performance seems to have put the curtains on what could have been the future of Spy Universe. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 was easily the most ambitious and the biggest film in the Spy Universe. It marked the first major collaboration between North and South with the inclusion of Telugu superstar Jr. NTR in his Bollywood debut. The film was expected to write new chapters in box office history, but what happened with it has shocked everyone, as it is set to finish below 400 crores worldwide. Reportedly, YRF had planned a standalone War 2 spin-off film with Jr. NTR's character Vikram in the Spy Universe. According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, the studio has decided to drop plans of making a standalone film with Jr. NTR following the disappointing box office run of War 2. The studio was already reportedly developing a standalone film for Agent Vikram, but the failure of War 2 has halted the entire process. It is said that producer Aditya Chopra has decided not to move forward with the project. As reported earlier, the filmmaker is now redesigning the Spy Universe to give it a fresh touch. Currently, only Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh's Alpha is scheduled in the Spy Universe, on December 25 this year. Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan 2, which is supposed to be the next film after Alpha, is also said to be postponed indefinitely, while other films, including Tiger vs Pathaan, are not moving forward at the moment. War 2 is the sixth film in the Spy Universe, and it also stars Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor in the key roles. It is the costliest Spy Universe film yet, with a budget of over 400 crores, but has disappointed with its box office performance so far, grossing just around 344 crores worldwide in 12 days. Hrithik Roshan-Jr. NTR's War 2 Bags Big Non-Theatrical Deals Worth 225 Crore

Mumbai, August 22 - Yash Raj Films' much-hyped spy action thriller War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has been underwhelming at the box office so far, with a disappointing first-week collection of around 315 crores worldwide. Ideally, the movie should have done this business or probably more in the opening weekend itself, but poor reviews and mixed word of mouth proved fatal. With no sign of rebound, Ayan Mukerji's directorial is heading towards emerging as a loss venture for YRF. As per trade estimates, the film will end up with around 50 crores in losses for the studio. Given the huge production costs and how the film has performed at the box office, the losses could have been higher, but the makers recovered most of it from the non-theatrical rights. According to reports, War 2's digital rights have been sold for 150 crores, while satellite rights brought 50 crores, and music rights brought 25 crores in revenue for YRF. The total non-theatrical revenue of around 225 crores has helped the studio to bring down the losses. The movie was reportedly made on a budget of over 400 crores, as the costliest film in the YRF Spy Universe. This includes the salaries of Jr. NTR (60 crores), Hrithik Roshan (35 crores), Ayan Mukerji (25 crores), and Kiara Advani (10 crores). Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is the 6th film in the Spy Universe, and the sequel to 2019's blockbuster War. It stars Telugu superstar Jr. NTR in his Bollywood debut, alongside Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his role from the first film, Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor. ## Stay tuned...

Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2 Enters 100 Crore Net Club In Hindi, But Underperforms In The Opening Weekend

Mumbai, August 18 - Yash Raj Films' much-awaited War 2 has officially crossed the 100 crore net mark in Hindi during its 4-day opening weekend, but the performance is being viewed as underwhelming compared to the sky-high expectations. Ideally, the movie should have done at least 200 crores net collections in the Hindi version, but the poor reviews and mixed word of mouth affected it badly. ## The film, featuring Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani in the leading roles, was touted as one of the biggest box office events of 2024, riding on the legacy of the successful War (2019) and the Spy Universe. Despite the massive hype, War 2 disappointed and is now at risk of finishing as one of the lowest films in the YRF Spy Universe. ## 134th Hindi Film in the 100 Crore Club ## With its entry, War 2 becomes the 134th Hindi film to achieve the 100 crore net milestone. This number itself shows how the club, once considered elite, has become relatively common over the past decade. Still, crossing 100 crore within the first weekend remains an important benchmark for any big Bollywood release, but much more was expected from War 2. ## Hrithik Roshan's 8th 100 Crore Film ## For Hrithik Roshan, this is yet another addition to his enviable track record, something trade and fans feel could have been much brighter. War 2 marks his 8th film to cross the 100 crore net mark in Hindi, cementing his position as one of Bollywood's most bankable action stars. With films like Bang Bang!, Krrish 3, Super 30, War, and Fighter, Hrithik has consistently delivered big openers and strong box office runs. ## Jr. NTR’s 2nd Entry into the Club ## Originally hailing from Telugu cinema, superstar Jr. NTR is slowly making his presence felt in the Hindi market, even though it is still a long way to go. War 2 marks his first major Hindi outing, now has his 2nd film in the 100 crore Hindi net club after RRR. His presence in War 2 has boosted the film's pan-India appeal, especially among Telugu audiences, but again, the potential was cut short by unfavourable reception. ## Kiara Advani's 5th 100 Crore Film ## For Kiara Advani, who marks he debut in the Spy Universe, War 2 marks her 5th film to enter the 100 crore club, proving her consistency as one of Bollywood's top leading ladies. After hits like Kabir Singh, Good Newwz, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, and Jugjugg Jeeyo, she continues to grab headlines with big-ticket entertainers. ## Underwhelming But Crucial Week Ahead ## While the 100 crore milestone has been crossed, War 2 has largely underperformed in its opening weekend, given the hype, scale of release and the Independence Day holiday boost. The weekdays ahead will now be decisive. If the film shows strong hold, it could go on to achieve decent success, but a steep drop may limit its long-term box office prospects. ## Meanwhile, the film has grossed approximately 265 crores worldwide in its 4-day opening weekend in all languages, including 210 crores gross in India and 55 crores overseas. The movie will need to put up strong holds in the coming days to reach a respectable lifetime total. ## Stay tuned...

War 2 First Day Advance Booking In India: Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR-starrer Picks Up After Telugu States Opening

Hyderabad, August 12 - The advance booking of War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has finally gained momentum following its opening in the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Initially slated to open on August 11, pre-sales in these regions were delayed by a day due to a pending government order regarding ticket price hikes. ## Prior to bookings opening in the Telugu states, War 2 had secured around 10 crore gross (with block seats) for the opening day for its Hindi version, which is a decent figure, though slightly below trade expectations. The scenario changed once Telugu state bookings went live, with BookMyShow registering over 20,000 ticket sales per hour for the first time. ## This surge is expected to give Hindi belt sales a much-needed push, especially in North India, as the film heads into its August 14 release with just over a day of pre-sales left. ## Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is clashing with superstar Rajinikanth's gangster action drama Coolie, which is one horse race at the moment as far as advance booking is concerned. The Tamil blockbuster has been dominating the advance booking race, with opening day sales already touching an 75 crore gross worldwide — including 30 crore from India alone — and still a full day to go before release. ## War 2 marks the sixth installment in Yash Raj Films' blockbuster Spy Universe and serves as a direct sequel to the 2019 hit War. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, the film also features Kiara Advani as the female lead alongside Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor in key roles. It is set for a grand release in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil on August 14. ## Stay tuned...

Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2 Hits 1 Million Interest On Book My Show; Joins Prabhas' Adipurush

Mumbai, August 11 - The buzz for Yash Raj Films' War 2 is reaching unprecedented levels. The spy action thriller, headlined by Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, has hit a new milestone on Book My Show ahead of its August 14 release worldwide. ## The Ayan Mukerji's directorial has crossed the 1 million interest mark on BookMyShow, signalling massive anticipation among moviegoers. With this, War 2 becomes only the second Bollywood film to achieve the feat after Prabhas-fronted Adipurush (1.1 million). ## Overall, War 2 is the 14th movie and 12th Indian title to mark a million interests on BMS. The non-Indian films to hit the milestone are Avengers: Endgame (1.57 million) and Avatar: Fire and Ash (1.10+ million. Kamal Haasan's LCU film Vikram has the highest number of interest with 2.3 million on the ticketing platform. ## War 2 is the latest entry and the sixth film in YRF's Spy Universe and promises a high-octane clash between Hrithik and Jr. NTR. The film also stars Kiara Advani, Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor in key roles. If the pre-release interest on BMS is anything to go by, it's gearing up for a thunderous opening. ## Meanwhile, the advance booking of the film is already opened and is having a good response so far with more than 2 days left for the release. ## Stay tuned...

The atmosphere was electric with thousands of fans cheering for the War 2 team. ## The star-studded event was full of high praise for the movie and some bold statements regarding the same. Jr. NTR, Hrithik Roshan, director Ayan Mukerji, and producer S. Naga Vamsi — who took the stage to share memories, gratitude, and promises ahead of the film's release. ## Jr. NTR Lauds Director Ayan Mukerji For The Films, Calls Hrithik "Best Dance of Our Country -## The Telugu superstar, who marks his Bollywood debut with this 2-hero action spectacle, said during the grand event that War 2 is one of the greatest films of our time, and director Ayan Mukerji will be remembered for this film in years to come. ## He also shared what made him do War 2, and he is proud of his choice. "Aditya Chopra (YRF head) relentlessly chased me to do this film. He promised me that my fans will be proud of my role. He's the main reason I accepted this film, and now I think I made the right choice". ## Jr. NTR spoke candidly about the deep admiration he holds for Hrithik Roshan, saying that as a child, he only knew Michael Jackson until he saw Hrithik's powerful dances and performance in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, "it made me go mad." He added, "Hrithik sir is one of the finest and most impeccable actors and dancers in India. He is the only actor in the country who is dedicated to his craft." ## He also addressed the fan debates comparing their dance skills. "There is no competition between us in that song... It's a song where two dancers appreciate and celebrate each other." He called Hrithik "the greatest dancer in the country," expressing how privileged he felt to share screen space with him and noting they'd worked together for 75 days. ## Hrithik Roshan Calls Jr. NTR a "One-Take Final-Take Star" ## Hrithik began his address in Telugu with a warm greeting, setting an enthusiastic tone for the evening. He then showered praise on Jr. NTR, calling him a "one-take star", a performer who nails every shot perfectly without needing retakes. Hrithik said, "I saw myself in Jr. NTR," emphasising the parallel in their journeys. He elaborated on what he learned from his co-star. ## "Tarak, I have not just observed you, but I have learnt from you. I have learnt how to go into a shot 100% — not 99.99%, not 99.999, but 100%. Which is why when he comes out of a shot, there is no judgment on me. He will not even check the shot because he knows he has given everything to it." ## He added, "Tarak (Jr NTR) and I started as co-stars and we ended up like brothers in real life. I want everyone to give me a promise today. I want you to promise me that you will love my brother the same way forever! Because he deserves it (smiles)." ## Speaking about the movie, the Fighter star said, "War 2 sits right on top of everything that I have done! The love and appreciation I got for playing Kabir in War reminded me of the love I got in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Dhoom 2 and Krrish. I humbly hope that you all enjoy Kabir again. This time, he's even more intense and in a bigger dilemma. Moreover, this time, he's in front of the real tiger himself! Hence, this would be unmissable". ## Ayan Mukerji Refutes Rumours and Keeps the Mystery Alive For War 2 ## The director addressed the hot rumours about Jr. NTR's entry in the film. Without disclosing much, the filmmaker refuted those rumours and said, "We are smart enough not to make a movie where he (Jr. NTR) comes at the interval point in the movie. That much sense we have." This statement confirmed that NTR's entry would be impactful—but not delayed until the halfway mark. He further teased that fans will need to watch the film to experience the exact timing of his appearance. ## The Brahmastra director also spoke about the overall experience of War 2, emphasising that the film is meant to deliver a compelling blend of spectacle and emotion, with key story details held back to preserve audience surprises. "Everyone is in for a real surprise on August 14th. The true soul of the film hasn't been revealed yet," he said. ## Naga Vamsi's Bold Challenge to Fans ## Producer Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments will distribute War 2 in the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), and he seemed highly confident about the movie and its box office prospects. He emphasised War 2 as a truly Telugu film, urging fans to show even greater support than they did for Devara. "The Telugu version must collect at least one rupee more than the Hindi version's net collection." ## Vamsi then threw a bold challenge and said, "If you don't like War 2, scold me as much as you want. No fan will be disappointed after watching the film. If that happens, I won't ask you to watch another film from me." ## War 2, which also stars Kiara Advani as the female lead alongside Ashutosh Rana and Anil Kapoor, is scheduled to release on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. ## Stay tuned...

While this rumour may sound bizarre, it still might have disappointed the fans of the Telugu superstar. But Ayan has some good news for them. ## During the pre-release event of War 2 in Hyderabad on August 10, the director addressed these speculations head-on, dismissing the theory with a witty remark. "We are smart enough not to make a movie where he (Jr. NTR) comes at the interval point in the movie. That much sense we have", hinting that the audience won't have to wait until the halfway mark to see the RRR star in action. ## Ayan then presses on, saying that to know where NTR would make an entry and everything else, the audience has to see the film and discover it. The statement has sent fans into a frenzy, sparking fresh theories about NTR's role in the film. ## Mukerji, known for his meticulous storytelling and flair for blending emotion with spectacle, has promised that War 2 will offer a unique experience in the YRF Spy Universe.
