Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the teaser, which was launched on January 8, revealed Yash as Raya. As per the official update, the Toxic teaser, called Daddy is Home, generated an earth-shattering 220+ million views across social media platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Twitter/X, and Facebook) in the first 24 hours, which is possibly a new record for an Indian film. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) On YouTube, the promo scored 48.70+ million views, followed by monstrous 150+ million views on Instagram across various individual accounts of the cast and crew. On Twitter and Facebook, the teaser garnered over 23 million cumulative views. Apart from its massive viewership, it also garnered over 6 million likes. The record-breaking viewership for the teaser underlines the huge buzz for the movie, which is one of the marquee Pan India films of the year. A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups marks Yash's first film since one of India's biggest blockbusters, KGF: Chapter 2, which was released in 2022. Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic has been in Kannada and English, making it the first Kannada movie to do so. Yash's Toxic Tease Arriving Tomorrow: Everything You Need to Know About the Rocking Star's Stylized Actioner

The wait is finally ending for millions of fans across the globe. Rocking Star Yash is all set to break his long hiatus after the record-shattering KGF: Chapter 2. As confirmed by top trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the first official Tease of his next venture, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, is scheduled to drop tomorrow, January 8, 2026, at 10:10 AM. The makers have clarified that this isn't just a trailer or a teaser, but a specialized Tease designed to set the mood for what is being called Yash's most experimental role to date. The hype surrounding Toxic is unprecedented, primarily because it marks Yash's first film in nearly four years. Since KGF 2 became the Highest Grossing Indian Film of the Year (HGOTY) in 2022, the actor has been extremely selective, spending years on the pre-production and filming of Toxic. The tagline A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups has sparked intense curiosity, suggesting a dark, gritty, and perhaps hallucinogenic action-drama that moves away from the traditional masala tropes, yet retains the larger than life aura associated with the Rocking Star. Toxic is helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, celebrated for her raw and internationally recognized storytelling in films like Moothon. This unique collaboration between a visionary director and a mass superstar like Yash is expected to deliver a high-concept cinematic experience unlike anything seen before. Produced as a joint venture between KVN Productions and Yash's own banner, Monster Mind Creations, the film is being mounted on a gargantuan budget with top-tier international technicians overseeing its high-octane action sequences and VFX. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   The makers have officially revealed character posters introducing the film's powerful female lineup. South Lady Superstar Nayanthara makes a lethal entry as Ganga (reportedly playing a pivotal role as Yash's sister), while Kiara Advani is introduced as Nadia, set to play the female lead. The cast also features Tara Sutaria as the fierce Rebecca, Huma Qureshi as the primary antagonist Elizabeth, and Rukmini Vasanth as the poised Mellisa. This multi-industry lineup, which also includes Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair, confirms Toxic as a truly global project with high-profile talent from across Indian cinema. This sets the stage for what trade analysts are calling the Battle of the Century. Yash's Toxic will head into a direct collision with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 (Dhurandhar: Revenge). With Dhurandhar currently standing as one of the highest-grossing original Hindi films (chasing Pushpa 2's record), the sequel carries massive momentum. However, Yash's track record with KGF 2 (₹859.7 Cr India Net) makes Toxic the biggest possible threat to any Bollywood blockbuster. This two-way clash is expected to lead to a severe screen-sharing crunch, with both films eyeing over 5,000+ screens in India alone. Tomorrow's Tease is expected to shatter digital records on YouTube within minutes of its release, providing a first look at Yash's new avatar and the stylized world Geetu Mohandas has created.

Toxic Teaser/Trailer: Yash-fronted Action Drama To Unveil Teaser On January 8?

Mumbai, January 6 - Rocking Star Yash's much-anticipated action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups continues to be in headlines ever since it was announced. Over the last couple of weeks, the makers have been treating fans with continuous updates regarding the film's cast, which is filed by strong female characters. The makers first unveiled Kiara Advani's character, followed by Huma Qureshi, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth, and as per the latest update, all these character reveals are built up to a major reveal on Yash's birthday. While the official announcement is yet to be made, the movie is in the spotlight, as rumours suggest that the film's teaser could be unveiled on January 8. January 8 holds special significance as it marks Yash's birthday, a date traditionally associated with major announcements and reveals related to the actor. In the past, too, Yash has treated fans with special glimpses, posters, or videos on his birthday, making January 8 a highly plausible window for the teaser launch. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to industry chatter and fan-driven speculation on social media, the makers of Toxic are planning to drop a stylish, hard-hitting teaser that will offer a deeper look into the film's dark, gritty world. Some reports claim the promo will highlight Yash's intense new avatar, setting the tone for what is being described as a raw and unconventional action drama. However, it is worth noting that these details remain speculative, and the team behind Toxic has not yet issued an official announcement regarding the teaser or trailer release date. Directed by Geethu Mohandas, Toxic is touted to be a period gangster action drama, made on a grand scale and mounted as a bilingual project. Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the film has already generated massive curiosity due to its unique title, international technical crew, and Yash's first film after the blockbuster KGF franchise. Shot in Kannada and English, Toxic is scheduled to release on March 19, 2026, in multiple languages. Stay tuned...

Pan-India Power Report 2025: Kantara Ch 1 Mints 223 Cr in Hindi; A Reality Check for Southern Dubs in 2025

2025 has been the year of the Pan India Reality Check. The Hindi audience has become ruthless embracing authentic rooted stories like Kantara with open arms while coldly rejecting generic mass actioners, even those starring heavyweights like Pawan Kalyan and Kamal Haasan. While Rishab Shetty emerged as the undisputed king of the Hindi box office this year, other highly anticipated projects like Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie and Suriya's Retro posted numbers that fell short of their astronomical pre release hype. From folklore to gangster dramas, here is the ultimate report card of how South Indian films performed in the Hindi belt this year. Movie Industry Hindi Net Collection Kantara: Chapter 1 Sandalwood ₹223.79 Cr Coolie Kollywood ₹37.23 Cr Game Changer Tollywood ₹32.93 Cr Mirai Tollywood ₹16.86 Cr Baahubali: The Epic Animation ₹6.94 Cr HIT: The Third Case Tollywood ₹4.11 Cr Kannappa Tollywood ₹3.98 Cr Lokah: Chapter 1 Mollywood ₹3.78 Cr They Call Him OG Tollywood ₹3.36 Cr L2: Empuraan Mollywood ₹2.59 Cr Thug Life Kollywood ₹1.70 Cr The Girlfriend Tollywood ₹ 0.60 Cr Madharasi Kollywood ₹0.50 Cr Retro Kollywood ₹ 0.49 Cr Daaku Maharaaj Tollywood ₹ 0.40 Cr Hari Hara Veera Mallu Tollywood ₹ 0.33 Cr Bad Girl Kollywood ₹0.06 Cr 1. Kantara:Chapter 1 Industry:Sandalwood (Kannada) Director:Rishab Shetty Star Cast:Rishab Shetty,Rukmini Vasanth
The prequel to the 2022 divine blockbuster Kantara shattered ceilings. Delving deeper into the origins of the Panjurli Daiva during the Kadamba era, the film offered a visual spectacle that was both raw and grandiose. The Divine climax once again became a cultural talking point, driving repeat audiences in Maharashtra and the Hindi belt. It stands as the only true All Time Blockbuster from the South in Hindi this year. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 2. Coolie Industry:Kollywood (Tamil) Director:Lokesh Kanagaraj Star Cast:Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir.
The union of Thalaivar Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj was expected to set the screens on fire. A stylish gangster drama involving a gold-smuggling syndicate, the film had massive hype. However, the Hindi numbers (₹ 37.23 Cr) suggest it played more to the gallery of existing fans rather than breaking out to the neutral Hindi audience like Vikram or Jailer. 3.Game Changer Industry:Tollywood (Telugu) Director:S. Shankar Star Cast:Ram Charan, Kiara Advani.
Coming off the global high of RRR, Ram Charan teamed up with the showman Shankar. While the film's political theme resonated in the South, the Hindi audience found the narrative slightly dated. ₹ 32.93 Cr is a respectable total but falls short of the expectations set for a Ram Charan and Shankar collaboration. 4.Mirai Industry:Tollywood (Telugu) Director:Karthik Ghattamaneni Star Cast:Teja Sajja, Ritika Nayak.
The surprise package of the year. After HanuMan, Teja Sajja cemented his position with Mirai. Based on the legend of Ashoka's 9 secret books, this Super Yodha film connected well with kids and families, earning nearly ₹ 17 Cr purely on concept strength without a Tier-1 star. 5. Baahubali:The Epic Industry:Pan India (Re-release/Edit) Director:S.S. Rajamouli Star Cast:Prabhas,Anushka Shetty
To celebrate the franchise's legacy, the makers released a special Single Film edit of the two part saga with remastered visuals. While die hard fans turned up, the ₹ 6.95 Cr collection proves that the audience prefers new content over nostalgia trips in theaters. 6. HIT:The Third Case Industry:Tollywood (Telugu) Director:Sailesh Kolanu Star Cast:Nani, Srinidhi Shetty.
Nani entered the HIT universe as Arjun Sarkar. While the film was a critical success in Telugu, the dark, gritty thriller genre has a limited ceiling in the Hindi dubbed market unless backed by massive marketing, reflected in its niche ₹ 4.11 Cr collection. 7. Kannappa Industry:Tollywood (Telugu) Director:Mukesh Kumar Singh Star Cast:Vishnu Manchu,Preity Mukhundhan (Cameos: Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Mohanlal).
Despite a star-studded lineup of cameos including Prabhas and Akshay Kumar, this mythological drama starring Vishnu Manchu failed to generate buzz in the Hindi belt, collecting a meager ₹ 3.98 Cr. 8. Lokah:Chapter 1 - Chandra Industry:Mollywood(Malayalam) Director:Dominic Arun Star Cast:Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, Sandy.
Malayalam cinema's ambitious entry into the superhero genre! Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, the film was praised for its VFX and unique world-building. For a Malayalam film without a traditional Mass Hero, earning ₹ 3.78 Cr in Hindi is a positive sign of growth. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 9.They Call Him OG Industry:Tollywood (Telugu) Director:Sujeeth Star Cast:Pawan Kalyan, Priyanka Mohan.
The biggest shocker of the list. Pawan Kalyan's gangster drama, despite featuring Emraan Hashmi as the antagonist, crashed in Hindi with just ₹ 3.36 Cr. It highlights that Pawan Kalyan's stardom is still strictly regional compared to peers like Prabhas or Allu Arjun. 10. L2:Empuraan Industry:Mollywood (Malayalam) Director:Prithviraj Sukumaran Star Cast:Mohanlal, Manju Warrier,Prithviraj. The sequel to Lucifer. While a massive blockbuster in Kerala, the complex political drama of Empuraan proved too dense for the mass Hindi audience, collecting just ₹ 2.59 Cr. 11. Thug Life Industry:Kollywood (Tamil) Director:Mani Ratnam Star Cast:Kamal Haasan, Trisha Krishnan,Silambarasan TR.
The reunion of legends Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan after decades was a cinematic event, but sadly, only for Tamil Nadu. The Hindi version was a non-starter (₹ 1.7 Cr), proving that Class Classics rarely translate to Mass Hindi Box Office. 12.The Girlfriend
 Industry:Tollywood (Telugu)
 Director:Rahul Ravindran
 Star Cast:Rashmika Mandanna, Dheekshith Shetty.

A solo lead thriller by Rashmika Mandanna. While she is a National Crush, the film's niche subject matter restricted its appeal, leading to a washout in the Hindi dubbed version.
 13.Madharasi
 Director:A.R.Murugadoss
 Star Cast:Sivakarthikeyan, Vidyut Jammwal.

Despite being directed by A.R.Murugadoss (known for Ghajini) and starring Vidyut Jammwal (a known face in Hindi), this film was a disaster in Hindi. It seems the audience has moved past the 2000s style of commercial filmmaking.
 14.Retro Industry:Kollywood (Tamil) Director:Karthik Subbaraj Star Cast:Suriya, Pooja Hegde.
Also known as Suriya 44, this stylish actioner by Karthik Subbaraj was expected to be Suriya's big theatrical comeback in Hindi. The shocking collection of less than ₹ 50 Lakhs indicates a complete failure in marketing or release strategy in the North. 15.Daaku Maharaaj
 Industry:Tollywood (Telugu)
 Director:Bobby Kolli
 Star Cast:Nandamuri Balakrishna, Bobby Deol

Even the presence of Bobby Deol (fresh off Animal fame) couldn't save this Balakrishna mass entertainer in Hindi. The over the top action style of NBK clearly has zero takers in the Hindi belt in 2025.
 16. Hari Hara Veera Mallu
 Industry:Tollywood (Telugu)
 Director:Krish Jagarlamudi,Jyoti Krishna
 Star Cast:Pawan Kalyan, Bobby Deol.

A delayed period drama that felt stale upon arrival. With collections of just ₹33 Lakhs, it stands as a significant commercial underperformer for a star of Pawan Kalyan's stature.
 (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 17.Bad Girl Industry:Kollywood (Tamil) Director:Varsha Bharath Star Cast:Anjali Sivaraman.
A small budget coming of age drama produced by heavyweights like Vetrimaaran. While critically acclaimed in festivals, it was virtually non-existent at the Hindi box office. Ultimately, 2025 will be remembered as the year the Hindi market transitioned from being a star reliant territory to a landscape defined by audience discernment. The staggering gap between Kantara (₹223 Cr) and generic mass entertainers highlights a significant shift in viewer preferences. When highly anticipated projects featuring legends struggle to gain traction while a rooted folklore thriller creates history, the trend is undeniable. The era of blind loyalty to formulaic tropes is fading, making way for a new chapter of content supremacy.

While crossing the half-billion mark might not be a big ask anymore, films with A-ratings have always walked a tightrope at the box office. With restricted audiences, limited family footfalls, and often polarising themes, breaking records in the adult-certified space is no easy feat. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Yet, every once in a while, a film comes along that defies the odds, rewriting the rules of what an A-rated Indian film can achieve commercially. Well, this has happened a few times over the last couple of years, where multiple A-rated titles achieved big success at the box office, proving that audiences are ready to embrace such films if they are worthy of their time and money. Here are the top 5 highest-grossing Indian films at the worldwide box office - 1. Dhurandhar (Hindi, 2025) - 944+ crore (20 days) Director - Aditya Dhar Starring - Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi Still in theatres and still breathing fire, Dhurandhar is rewriting the narrative in real time. Powered by ferocious performances, raw action, and an uncompromising tone, the film has already crossed massive global milestones by becoming the all-time biggest A-rated grosser. It is now marching towards 1000 crores gross milestone. 2. Animal (Hindi, 2023) - 915 crore Director - Sandeep Reddy Vanga Starring - Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Violent, divisive, and relentless, the action drama rooted in father-son sentiments, Animal, went against the regular filmmaking and bulldozed its way to the top with an unprecedented worldwide gross, proving that controversy can fuel commerce when executed with scale and conviction. It remains the gold standard for A-rated dominance. 3. Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire (Telugu, 2023) - 618 crores Director - Prashanth Neel Starring - Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumara, Shruti Haasan A dark, violent, and thunderous action spectacle, Salaar: Ceasefire was largely believed to have underperformed at the box office despite big numbers. However, despite its A-rating, the Prabhas-led film stormed the worldwide box office, driven by massive openings across multiple territories and sustained mass appeal. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) 4. Coolie (Tamil, 2025) - 518 crores Director - Lokesh Kanagaraj Starring - Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Aamir Khan The film surprised with its adult-rating, which eventually proved to be a roadblock for its overall potential. Coolie, headlined by superstar Rajinikanth, combined raw storytelling with commercial sensibilities. The film received mixed word of mouth, which helped it to cross the 500 crores milestone. 5. Kabir Singh (Hindi, 2019) - 377 crores Director - Sandeep Reddy Vanga Starring - Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani The film that changed the game before the era of mega-scale A-rated actioners. Kabir Singh thrived on its obsessive romance, flawed protagonist, and intense emotional pitch, becoming the highest-grossing adult-certified film of its time and laying the foundation for what followed. Year Ender 2025:The year of Sequels

Sequel Report 2025 Filmmakers doubled down on nostalgia this year, bringing back iconic characters and expanding beloved universes. From the high-octane face-off in War 2 to the supernatural hysteria of Stree 2, the box office was dominated by the Part 2 phenomenon. However, the results were a mixed bag of hits and shocking disasters, proving that a franchise tag alone is no longer a guarantee of success. As we wrap up the year, here is the verified collection report and verdict of the 10 sequels of 2025. War 2 Director Ayan Mukerji Cast Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, Kiara Advani Hindi Net ₹ 236.55 Cr WW Gross ₹ 364.35 Cr Budget ₹ 400 Cr Verdict Flop A monumental disappointment. Despite the massive hype surrounding the Hrithik vs. Jr NTR face-off, the film collapsed due to negative word-of-mouth and a weak screenplay. With a colossal budget of ₹400 Cr, the collections are disastrous, failing to even cross the lifetime figures of its 2019 predecessor. It proves that mounting a project on scale alone cannot save a film if the content doesn't connect. Housefull 5 Director Tarun Mansukhani Cast Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan Hindi Net ₹ 183.3 Cr WW Gross ₹ 288.58 Cr Budget ₹ 250 Cr Verdict Average A classic case of the budget outgrowing the box office potential. While the cruise ship grandeur pushed the cost to an astronomical ₹250 Cr, the collections (₹183.3 Cr Net) failed to match up, falling significantly short of Housefull 4's ₹210 Cr benchmark. Despite decent family footfalls during the holidays, the massive mounting turned a potential money-spinner into a financial burden, signaling clear franchise fatigue. Jolly LLB 3 Director Subhash Kapoor Cast Akshay Kumar, Arshad Warsi, Huma Qureshi Hindi Net ₹ 116.75 Cr WW Gross ₹ 170.8 Cr Budget ₹ 120 Cr Verdict Success A classic example of diminishing ROI. While the much-hyped face-off between Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi helped the film match the net collections of Jolly LLB 2 (₹117 Cr), the economics went for a toss. With the budget skyrocketing 4x from ₹30 Cr to ₹120 Cr, what was once a highly profitable franchise has been reduced to just a Success. It proves that while the audience base remained intact, the massive cost escalation ate into the profit margins. Raid 2 Director Raj Kumar Gupta Cast Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Vaani Kapoor Hindi Net ₹ 173.05 Cr WW Gross ₹ 237 Cr Budget ₹ 120 Cr Verdict Hit Bigger numbers, but smaller margins. While Raid 2 saw a healthy jump in collections (₹173 Cr vs the prequel's ₹103 Cr), it couldn't match the massive profitability of the first part. Raid was a 'Super-Hit' because it earned 3x its lean ₹35 Cr budget. The sequel, burdened by a heavy ₹120 Cr cost, settles for a Hit verdict. It was a commercial success, but not the money-spinner the original was relative to investment. Sitaare Zameen Par Director R.S. Prasanna Cast Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh Hindi Net ₹ 167.3 Cr WW Gross ₹ 267.34 Cr Budget ₹ 122 Cr Verdict Hit A case of High Revenue, Lower ROI. While Sitaare Zameen Par clocked an impressive ₹167.3 Cr (nearly 2.6x the prequel's lifetime), the economics tell a different story. With the budget escalating 10x from ₹12 Cr to ₹122 Cr, the massive profitability of the original is missing. However, given the genre and Aamir's recent track record, crossing ₹267 Cr worldwide makes it a respectable Hit, even if it lacks the Super-Hit status of its low-budget predecessor. De De Pyaar De 2 Director Anshul Sharma Cast Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Rakul Preet Singh Hindi Net ₹ 74 Cr WW Gross ₹ 111.5 Cr Budget ₹ 150 Cr Verdict Below Average A shocking misfire. Sequels are expected to take the franchise forward, but De De Pyaar De 2 took a massive step back. Not only did the collections nosedive from ₹104 Cr (Part 1) to just ₹74 Cr, but the budget ballooned to ₹135 Cr, making theatrical recovery impossible. Son of Sardaar 2 Director Vijay Kumar Arora Cast Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, Sanjay Dutt Hindi Net ₹ 46.82 Cr WW Gross ₹ 65.75 Cr Budget ₹ 130 Cr Verdict Flop A box office catastrophe. The franchise completely collapsed with this installment. While the original was a Super-Hit with ₹105 Cr Net on a lean ₹40 Cr budget, the sequel saw the budget triple to ₹130 Cr while collections crashed to less than half (₹46.82 Cr). It stands as one of the biggest loss-makers of the year, proving that a 13-year gap is too long to sustain brand recall without strong content. Baaghi 4 Director A. Harsha Cast Tiger Shroff, Sara Ali Khan Hindi Net ₹ 52.1 Cr WW Gross ₹ 77 Cr Budget ₹ 80 Cr Verdict Flop The franchise has officially hit rock bottom. While Baaghi 3 managed ₹96.5 Cr even amidst the onset of the pandemic, Baaghi 4 saw collections crash by nearly 50% to just ₹52.1 Cr. Even with a reduced budget of ₹80 Cr, the film failed to recover its costs theatrically. The repetitive action formula has been completely rejected by the audience. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 Director Anukalp Goswami Cast Kapil Sharma, Warina Hussain,Tridha Choudhary, Ayesha Khan Hindi Net ₹ 7.20 Cr(As of day 3) WW Gross NA Budget ₹30 Cr Verdict NA Kapil Sharma's return to the big screen witnessed some respite over the weekend. After a slow start, the film saw positive growth on Sunday (₹ 2.85 Cr), taking its 3-day total to ₹ 7.20 Cr. While family audiences stepped out, the numbers still pale in comparison to the record-breaking debut of the first part. The film has gathered some momentum, but it now faces the crucial Monday test to see if it can sustain its run and challenge the lifetime collections of its prequel. Kesari Chapter 2 Director Karan Singh Tyagi Cast Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday Hindi Net ₹ 92.73 Cr WW Gross ₹ 145 Cr Budget ₹ 150 Cr Verdict Average A failed attempt to capitalize on patriotism. While the original Kesari was a Hit earning ₹155.70 Cr Net on a controlled ₹100 Cr budget, the sequel stumbled significantly. With the production cost escalating to ₹150 Cr, the collections dropped by over 40% (₹92.73 Cr Net). Despite recovering ₹34.25 Cr from overseas markets, the film could not overcome its high budget, ending as a major commercial disappointment. Masti 4 Director Milap Zaveri Cast Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh Hindi Net ₹ 14.9 Cr WW Gross ₹ 19.25 Cr Budget ₹ 40 Cr Verdict Flop The franchise remains stuck in a rut. Masti 4 has virtually mirrored the disastrous performance of its prequel, Great Grand Masti (₹13.72 Cr). With collections stagnating around the ₹15 Cr mark against a ₹40 Cr budget, it confirms that the adult-comedy genre in this format has lost its theatrical appeal. It marks a second consecutive failure for the once-popular series.

Kartik Aaryan's Box Office Report Card: His Top 5 Hits Before TMMTMTTM

As the countdown begins for Christmas 2025, the industry is placing its bets on Kartik Aaryan's upcoming romantic comedy, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri (TMMTMTTM). The film promises to be a festive treat, marking a significant reunion for Kartik with director Sameer Vidwans (following Satyaprem Ki Katha) and co-star Ananya Panday, bringing back the chemistry that sparked interest in Pati Patni Aur Woh. To understand the magnitude of this release, we must look at Kartik's track record. Here are the Top 5 biggest hits of his career , cementing his status as a bankable superstar. The crown jewel of his career is undoubtedly the recent blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024). Released during the competitive Diwali window, this horror-comedy saw Kartik return as Rooh Baba to face off against Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit, with Triptii Dimri as the romantic lead. Directed by the comedy veteran Anees Bazmee, the film shattered records with an India Net Collection of ₹260.11 Cr and a Worldwide gross of over ₹400 Cr. With a budget of approximately ₹150–195 Cr, it earned a Super Hit verdict, proving that Kartik can anchor a massive franchise tentpole. Holding the second spot is the film that arguably saved the Hindi box office post-pandemic: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). Stepping into a franchise previously led by Akshay Kumar was a daunting task, but Kartik made it his own. Directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by T-Series, the film starred Kiara Advani and Tabu in pivotal roles. Made on a budget of roughly ₹ 80 Cr, it defied all odds to collect ₹ 184.32 Cr (India Net) and ₹ 265.5 Cr (Worldwide). The film was declared a Blockbuster, establishing the Kartik-Anees Bazmee actor-director combo as a goldmine for the industry. The movie that officially catapulted Kartik into the A-league is Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018). This film marked the peak of his collaboration with mentor and director Luv Ranjan, who had given him his break in Pyaar Ka Punchnama. Co-starring Nushrratt Bharuccha and Sunny Singh, this bromance vs. romance comedy connected instantly with the youth. Made on a modest budget of approx. ₹30 Cr, it surprised everyone by entering the 100-Crore club, minting ₹ 108.95 Cr(India Net) and ₹ 156.46 Cr (Worldwide). It was a massive Blockbuster that proved Kartik could carry a commercial film purely on his comic timing and monologue fame. Ranked fourth is the small-town rom-com Luka Chuppi (2019), which showcased Kartik's ability to shine in family entertainers. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film paired him with Kriti Sanon and featured stellar support from Pankaj Tripathi. The film dealt with the subject of live-in relationships in a conservative setting. It was a highly profitable venture; made on a budget of just ₹25 Cr, it collected ₹94.75 Cr (India Net) and ₹128 Cr (Worldwide). The verdict was Super Hit, solidifying his appeal in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. Rounding out his top 5 hits is Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), a film particularly relevant today as it featured his TMMTMTTM co-star, Ananya Panday. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, this modern remake of the classic comedy also starred Bhumi Pednekar. The movie was praised for its humor and the chemistry between the leads. Produced on a budget of approx. ₹40 Cr, it collected ₹ 84.56 Cr (India Net) and ₹ 109 Cr (Worldwide), earning a Hit verdict. The successful pairing of Kartik and Ananya in this film is a major reason why trade analysts are bullish on their reunion in Tu Meri Main Tera.... Kartik Aaryan's box office history shows a clear pattern: he excels in comedies and romantic entertainers that appeal to families and youth alike. With TMMTMTTM bringing him back to the romantic-comedy genre with a tested director (Sameer Vidwans) and a familiar co-star (Ananya Panday), the stage is set for potentially his next big entry into this elite list.
