Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar Completes 50 Days At The Box Office: A Look At Its All-Time Blockbuster Journey So Far

Mumbai, January 23 - Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar has completed 50 days in its theatrical run today, firmly establishing itself as one of the most iconic blockbusters in Indian cinema. From the doubtful pre-release days to finishing at the top, the spy action thriller has come a long way in those 50 days to prove that there is nothing like big screen cinema. Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar has dominated the box office across circuits, from a solid opening to its extraordinary long run. The budget was massive, and there were doubts whether the film had star power to pull big numbers to justify the scale, but it made everyone fall in love once it hit the silver screens and became the highest single-language grosser in India. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Apart from being the biggest single-language grosser in the domestic market, Dhurandhar has rewritten history by becoming the highest-grossing film worldwide in Hindi, showcasing its appeal not just domestically but also in overseas markets. In India, the film displayed unprecedented consistency, setting all-time weekly records in Hindi from the second week onwards, something almost unheard of for an A-rated mainstream entertainer. The film's theatrical reach has been equally historic in terms of footfalls. Dhurandhar is now the most-watched original Bollywood film in Hindi since the COVID-19 pandemic, recording 3.65+ crore admissions. This remarkable audience turnout reflects the film's universal appeal, mass connect, and repeat value. With 50 days completed, Dhurandhar stands tall as a true all-time blockbuster. Ranveer Singh and the rest of the cast's powerhouse performances, combined with scale-driven action and the growing excitement for Dhurandhar Part 2, have turned the film into a cultural and box office phenomenon, setting benchmarks for the upcoming films to achieve. Dhurandhar OTT Release: Can The Anticipation For Part 2 Make Ranveer Singh-Starrer Biggest Hindi Digital Release?

Mumbai, January 23 - Indian cinema witnessed the unpredictability of the box office when Ranveer Singh-fronted spy action thriller Dhurandhar created history by going against all odds. Until December last year, no one had thought that there would come a movie to challenge Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2's records within a year (of course, bigger movies are coming in 2026, but that's a different matter), which will not only challenge the Pan India biggie but also become the biggest Hindi grosser of all time. Now, Aditya Dhar's directorial is gearing up to release on Netflix on January 30, but the question is, can the digital release of the movie create the same impact as it has done on the big screens? There are multiple factors which suggest that Dhurandhar might become the biggest Hindi release ever on digital platforms, and one of the biggest reasons for that is the anticipation of Dhurandhar Part 2. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Dhurandhar worked because of the powerful performances, strong narrative, and complete conviction of director Dhar, yet it left so much for part 2 to explore, as it was originally planned as a single-part film before the makers split it into two parts. The anticipation for Dhurandhar 2 is huge, and that is going to play a lot when the film hits digital. Once the film hits Netflix post its 8-week theatrical run, those who have already watched the film in theatres are expected to revisit it on OTT to reconnect with the narrative and decode hints about what lies ahead. Additionally, a large section of the audience that missed it on the big screen is likely to catch up on digital platforms, driven by the constant buzz around the sequel. With conversations around Part 2 gaining momentum, the first film becomes almost mandatory viewing for fans who want to fully understand what happened in the movie, further boosting its viewership. Considering its unprecedented theatrical reach and the strong curiosity for the upcoming film, Dhurandhar has all the ingredients to become the most-viewed Hindi film, direct or indirect, on Netflix. Dhurandhar vs Pushpa 2 Box Office: Week-Wise Comparison Between Two Biggest Hindi Blockbusters

Mumbai, January 22 - The Hindi box office has witnessed a historic shift as Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar has officially emerged as the biggest Hindi net grosser of all time, collecting a staggering 830 crore net in India so far. The action-packed entertainer recently overtook Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule, which wrapped up its Hindi theatrical run with an extraordinary 812 crore net. While Pushpa 2 stormed the box office with a thunderous opening and dominated the initial weeks, its collections started dropping big after 4-5 weeks, which is completely normal for a frontloaded starter. Despite that, the film rewrote records for a dubbed release and proved the massive pull of the Pushpa franchise in the Hindi belt, driven by Allu Arjun's growing popularity and the brand value created by the first part. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) On the other hand, Dhurandhar showcased exceptional long-run stamina, with exceptional weekday holds and sustained collections well into its later weeks. It has been owning weekly records since the second week, which is remarkable for an adult-rated film. Backed by positive word of mouth and strong recall value, the film steadily closed the gap before eventually surpassing Pushpa 2 to claim the all-time crown. The week-wise trend shows that after dominating the first week, Pushpa 2 started lagging behind the Bollywood mega blockbuster. With Dhurandhar now reigning at the top and Pushpa 2 firmly placed as a close second, these two mega blockbusters have redefined benchmarks for Hindi box office performance, underlining the growing dominance of big-scale, mass-driven cinema in India. Border 2 vs. Dhurandhar 2: Exhibitors Reportedly Reject Anil Thadani's Clubbing Strategy for Yash-Starrer Toxic

The distribution landscape for 2026 is witnessing a high-stakes standoff between major film distributors and theatre exhibitors. According to a scoop by Bollywood Hungama, veteran distributor Anil Thadani (AA Films) is reportedly attempting to use the massive leverage of Sunny Deol's Border 2 to secure prime showcasing for another highly anticipated project, the Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. This clubbing strategy is a common industry practice where a distributor mandates that exhibitors screen a specific slate of films as a package deal in exchange for the rights to a guaranteed blockbuster. However, this move has reportedly met with significant resistance from exhibitors, primarily due to the impending arrival of Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar 2. Following the All-Time Blockbuster status of the first Dhurandhar in 2025, the sequel starring Ranveer Singh has become one of the most sought-after titles for 2026. Theatre owners are currently hesitant to sign any restrictive package deals for Border 2 and Toxic because doing so would severely limit their ability to allot the required number of screens and shows to Dhurandhar 2 during its release window. The conflict stems from the sheer volume of high-profile content scheduled for the first half of 2026. As previously reported, Border 2 already carries a massive 199-minute runtime and distributors have already demanded up to 20 shows a day in major multiplexes. Exhibitors argue that if they are further forced to commit a specific number of screens to Toxic as part of a clubbing deal, they will have virtually no flexibility to accommodate the Dhurandhar Universe sequel, which is expected to command a similar, if not larger, screen count. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Trade analysts suggest that this pushback from exhibitors highlights the changing dynamics of film exhibition in the post-pandemic era, where content is king and theatre owners prefer the freedom to program based on organic demand rather than distributor pressure. While Anil Thadani remains one of the most powerful figures in film distribution, the record-breaking success of the first Dhurandhar has given exhibitors enough confidence to negotiate terms that allow them to capitalize on multiple blockbusters rather than being tied to a single distributor's slate. As of now, negotiations are reportedly ongoing. The outcome of this standoff will likely dictate the initial screen count for both Toxic and Dhurandhar 2. With Border 2 already poised for a historic Republic Day opening, the industry is closely watching how these logistical battles play out, as they will ultimately determine the box office potential of 2026's biggest cinematic events.

Dhurandhar Box Office: Film Shatters Stree 2's 7th Week Record; Vicky Kaushal to Reprise Uri Role in Dhurandhar 2

Director Aditya Dhar is officially expanding his directorial footprint by creating a massive cinematic crossover. According to a report by Mid-day, Vicky Kaushal is set to feature in an extended cameo in the upcoming sequel, Dhurandhar 2. In a major twist for fans, Kaushal will be reprising his legendary role as Major Vihaan Shergill from the 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike. This move confirms the formation of a Dhurandhar Universe, strategically linking Dhar's previous military masterpiece with this current franchise. The integration of Major Vihaan Shergill into Dhurandhar 2 is a significant narrative development. Despite Uri being set in 2016, Aditya Dhar has reportedly woven the character into the new storyline seamlessly. The cameo is expected to be high-impact, featuring several action blocks. While it remains to be seen if Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh's characters will share the screen, the inclusion of the Uri lead adds immense star power to the sequel. Furthermore, the report indicates that Akshaye Khanna's role in the second installment will be limited to specific flashback sequences to accommodate the expanding universe. While the sequel generates buzz, the first Dhurandhar installment continues its historic run at the box office, demonstrating unprecedented longevity. In its seventh week of release, the film has maintained a rock-solid performance. The 7th-week collection breakdown is as follows: Day 43 (Friday) at ₹1.75 Cr Day 44 (Saturday) at ₹3.00 Cr Day 45 (Sunday) at ₹3.75 Cr Day 46 (Monday) at ₹1.50 Cr Day 47 (Tuesday) at ₹1.50 Cr This brings the total India Net collection for the first five days of the seventh week to a staggering ₹11.50 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   With two days still remaining in the week, Dhurandhar has already officially surpassed the previous all-time 7th-week record held by Stree 2 (₹9.35 Cr). This achievement is part of a larger trend of the film's extraordinary legs at the box office. Although Dhurandhar initially ranked at the 12th position for highest opening week collections, it has dominated every subsequent week, bagging the #1 spot for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th-week collections. Once the seventh week concludes, it is guaranteed to take the first position on that chart as well, surpassing Stree2,Chhaava and Pushpa 2: The Rule. The cumulative box office standing of Dhurandhar cements its status as an All-Time Blockbuster. The film's total India Net collection currently stands at ₹826.6 Cr, with an India Gross collection of ₹991.65 Cr. Internationally, the film has performed exceptionally well, raking in an Overseas collection of ₹293.6 Cr. This brings the total Worldwide collection to a massive ₹1285.25 Cr. As the film continues to run in theaters, the successful launch of a cinematic universe with the Uri connection is expected to further boost the franchise's value.

Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge Teaser CBFC Rating and Runtime Details Confirmed; To Be Attached with Border 2

The anticipation for the continuation of the Dhurandhar saga has reached a new peak with the latest official update regarding its promotional material. On January 19, 2026, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) officially certified the teaser for the sequel, titled Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge. In a move that highlights the film's gritty and high-octane nature, the teaser has been granted an A (Adults Only) certificate. The certified runtime for this first glimpse is clocked at exactly 1 minute and 48 seconds, promising a packed and intense introduction to the next chapter of the story. To maximize the film's reach, the makers have strategically decided to attach the Dhurandhar 2 teaser to the theatrical prints of the highly anticipated Border 2. Starting from Day 1 of the Border 2 release, audiences in cinemas will be the first to witness the return of the franchise on the big screen. This cross-promotion is expected to generate massive traction, given the overlapping audience base for both high-scale action spectacles. The sequel follows in the footsteps of a cinematic giant. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the first installment of Dhurandhar emerged as a generational blockbuster, redefining box office benchmarks for Indian cinema. The film featured an elite ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, alongside powerhouse performers like Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan. The plot, a sophisticated spy thriller centered on international espionage and high-stakes combat, resonated deeply with audiences globally. Currently continuing its record-shattering theatrical run, Dhurandhar has already achieved All Time Blockbuster status. The film's commercial performance remains extraordinary, having amassed a Worldwide Gross of ₹1283.5 crore to date. Its domestic journey has seen an India Net collection of ₹825.1 crore (Gross: ₹989.9 crore), while it continues to dominate international markets with an Overseas collection of ₹293.6 crore. The franchise's immense brand value was further solidified when Netflix acquired the combined digital rights for both parts in a landmark ₹130 crore deal, even as the first installment remains a top draw in cinemas. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Following the monumental success of the first installment, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge will see Ranveer Singh return as the primary lead, reprising his role as the undercover Indian agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Hamza). Director Aditya Dhar has finalized the return of the key ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, and Sara Arjun as Yalina. A significant development for the sequel is the return of Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait; however, trade reports confirm his appearance is limited to pivotal flashback sequences that will explore the character's origins and deeper ties to the ongoing conflict. On the antagonistic front, the threat level is set to escalate as Arjun Rampal's character, Major Iqbal, takes a more central role following the events of the first film. The narrative will also revolve around the mysterious Bade Sahab, the shadow mastermind teased in Part 1, whose official casting is being kept under wraps by the makers for the theatrical release. With the sequel scheduled for theatrical release on March 19, 2026, the certification of the teaser marks the beginning of a high-decibel marketing campaign aimed at breaking the records set by its predecessor.

Indian Box Office Hit Record 13,000 Crore Plus In 2025; Dhurandhar Led The Charge

Mumbai, January 16 - The Indian box office hit a new peak with record-breaking business of 13,350 crores from over 1500 movies in 2025, as per Sacnilk's estimated data. This was also the first time that domestic grosses crossed 13K crore, beating the previous record of 11,500 crores in 2023, a year which saw the comeback of superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Bollywood led the charge once again with nearly 5600 crores gross collection, which is around 40% of the total domestic box office collection. The Hindi cinema has recovered from the Covid dent; however, the low to mid-range films are still struggling to find an audience, even though some of the films in this category exceeded expectations. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Jio Studios and B62 Studios' Dhurandhar was the biggest domestic grosser with over 975 crores gross, followed by Kantara Chapter 1 and Chhaava.
