Ontario, 21 September - WWE has initiated post-merger talent cuts, and the first announcement came with the release of Mustafa Ali from his WWE contract. He shared the news of his departure on his social media.

Shortly after, Emma also revealed her release on September 21.

Fightful Select later reported that Rick Boogs had been released from WWE, marking the third release in this post-merger talent cut. The fourth release in this series was Aaliyah, who initially signed a developmental contract with WWE in 2015. She made her debut at the NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable event on May 20, as part of Tyler Breeze's entrance.

After spending nearly six years in NXT, she was drafted to SmackDown in 2021. Her last match took place on the September 12, 2022 episode of WWE Raw, where she and Rodriguez defended but lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships to Damage CTRL (IYO SKY & Dakota Kai).

Finally, Elias became the fifth release of the day, as confirmed by Fightful.
