Box Office: Kantara Overtakes KGF 1 To Become Second Highest-Grossing Kannada Movie
Bengaluru, October 27 - Kannada production house, Hombale Films is in competition with itself at the box office. The top three Kannada movies of all time now belong to Hombale Films which first produced a movie in 2014. The three films are - KGF: Chapter 2, Kantara, and KGF: Chapter 1.



"KGF: Chapter 1" was the first Kannada movie to cross 200 crores mark at the worldwide box office before Chapter 2 came and outdid its predecessor to not only become the biggest Kannada film of all time but also 3rd highest-grossing Indian movie with over 1200 crores worldwide.





Now, Rishab Shetty's adventure action thriller "Kantara" which no one had expected to reach even 100 crores, has crossed "KGF: Chapter 1" to become the second highest-grossing Kannada movie of all time. It has grossed approx. 240 crores worldwide in 27 days, crossing KGF's approx. 237 crores worldwide.





"Kantara" has had a far lower opening than "KGF" but thanks to unprecedented audience word of mouth, it has been trending extraordinarily at the box office and this makes it one of the biggest Indian blockbusters in terms of the return. It is made on a budget of just around 15 crores.
