Los Angeles, July 1 - Warner Bros. is shifting the release dates of two of its most-awaited high-profile films, sequels to "Dune" and "Godzilla vs. Kong". ## Director Denis Villeneuve's "Dune 2", which was originally announced for October 20, 2023, release, will now be hitting theaters on November 17, 2023. That means the sequel will have the advantage of playing over the Thanksgiving holiday.## The first part of this sci-fi epic, the adaptation of the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert, was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max in the USA on October 22, 2021. It grossed $108.3 million in North America while worldwide, it scored $401 million and also won 6 Oscars. ## Meanwhile, Warner Bros./Legendary has set the release date of Adam Wingard's next installment in the Godzilla Vs. Mumbai, March 21 - Legendary Entertainment's "Godzilla vs. Kong" is officially is in the development to begin the film in Australia later this year. The Queensland state government has confirmed the shooting development of the sequel. ## The yet-untitled sequel will be the third monster verse film to be filmed in Queensland state. According to Variety, the film is expected to film at Gold Coast and other locations in Southeast Queensland. Director Adam Wingard, who has helmed "Godzilla vs. Kong", is in talks to return to direct the new monster film. ## "Godzilla vs. Kong", which debuted in theaters on March 31 in the USA, has grossed over $400 million at the box office, marking the highest-grossing Hollywood release of the pandemic era. The movie was released simultaneously on the streaming platform, HBO Max as part of Warner Bros' multi-platform release strategy for the studio's 2021 slate. ## "Godzilla vs. Kong" is the fourth movie in the franchise since Legendary kicked off their MonsterVerse plans, after partnering with Japan's Toho Studios for 2014's "Godzilla".
