Mumbai, December 8 - Recently, it was reported that Riteish Deshmukh would be making his directorial debut with a Marathi film. Confirming those reports, Riteish shared the first look of the film, titled "Ved", which is touted to be a romantic drama film.

Riteish took to Twitter and shared the first look poster and wrote, "After being in front of the camera for 20 years, I take a big leap to stand behind it for the first time. As I direct my first Marathi film, I humbly ask you all for your good wishes and blessings. Be a part of this journey, be a part of this madness. वेड (Madness)".

Apart from directing it, Riteish will be acting alongside his actor wife, Genelia Deshmukh and Jiya Shankar. Genelia, who has worked in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films, will be making her Marathi debut with "Ved", which will be produced by Riteish's Mumbai Film Company. Ajay-Atul will compose the music. It will be released on 12 August 2022 in theaters.

While "Ved" is Riteish's first film as director in Marathi, he made his acting debut in Marathi cinema with "Lai Bhaari" (2014), also produced it along with films like Balak Palak, and Faster Fene. The "Ved" team has planned to complete the filming schedule by end of the February for August 12, 2022, release.
