Samoa Joe successfully defended his championship, but now faces challenges from two determined contenders.





On the January 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, HOOK stepped up to challenge Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship in the main event. With an impressive record of 29-1, HOOK brought the fight to the champion. Despite HOOK's resilience and even kicking out of the Muscle Buster, Joe's veteran experience prevailed.





In a brutal move, Joe slammed HOOK through the announce desk before securing the victory with the Coquina Clutch, marking his first successful title defense after winning the gold by defeating MJF at AEW Worlds End.





Post-match, HOOK, showing incredible spirit, got back up and defiantly challenged Joe, leading to a subsequent attack by the champion. Before Joe could inflict further damage, Hangman Adam Page entered the ring, prompting Joe to retreat backstage. Meanwhile, Swerve Strickland was spotted in the crowd, observing the situation. Strickland locked eyes with Hangman Page, creating a tense moment as the former AEW World Champion assisted HOOK to his feet.
