About This Movie

Dhurandhar The film draws inspiration from real-life events involving geopolitical tensions and covert operations conducted by India's RAW, particularly those associated with Operation Lyari, a government-led crackdown on gangs and criminal syndicates in the Lyari neighbourhood of Karachi, Pakistan. Set against the backdrop of the IC-814 hijacking in 1999 and the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the film follows India's Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal, who crafts a daring and indomitable mission to infiltrate and dismantle a powerful terrorist network operating out of Pakistan. To execute this high-risk operation, Sanyal recruits an unlikely asset, a 20-year-old boy from Punjab, held captive for committing a revenge-driven crime. Recognising the boy's potential and raw intensity, Sanyal decides to mould him into a weapon capable of penetrating Karachi's ruthless underworld mafia.

Mana shankaraVaraprasad Garu Leads Ticket Sales with Mammoth Opening; Dhurandhar's Day 38 Hold Continues to Amaze

The latest 24-hour ticket sales data from BookMyShow provides a clear picture of the current box office hierarchy, highlighting a massive new opening, the incredible staying power of an all-time blockbuster, and the struggles of underperforming films. The new release, ManashankarVaraprasad, has expectedly taken the box office by storm, while the veteran Dhurandhar continues to post phenomenal numbers deep into its theatrical run. The biggest story from the latest trends is the sensational start for ManashankarVaraprasad Garu, which has translated its massive pre-release buzz into phenomenal box office numbers. The colossal sale of 488K tickets on BookMyShow perfectly foreshadowed the bumper opening. As per the official figures, its Day 1 India Net collection (including premieres) stands at a spectacular ₹37.1 Cr. This translates to a phenomenal India Gross of ₹45 Cr. The film has also stormed the international box office, kicking off its run with an impressive ₹22 Cr from overseas markets. This has propelled its total worldwide gross on its opening day to a staggering ₹67 Cr, setting the stage for one of the biggest opening weekends of the year. The film is clearly the undisputed top choice for moviegoers. In what can only be described as a historic feat, Dhurandhar continues to be a box office force even on its 38th day (D38). The film sold an astonishing 43.5K tickets in the last 24 hours, a figure that is higher than some films in their opening weekend. This demonstrates the film's unprecedented hold and cements its status as a true history-maker. With its worldwide gross already past ₹1259.5 Cr and its India Net collection soaring above ₹808 Cr, this continued audience interest ensures its record-breaking run is far from over. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Among the other films, the performance of the Prabhas-starrer The Raja Saab is a major cause for concern. On its crucial first Monday (D4), the film managed to sell only 82.2K tickets. For a film of this massive scale and star power, such a figure indicates a very poor hold after the opening weekend and suggests it has failed to meet the colossal expectations. This trend points towards a significant underperformance. In comparison, Parasakthi has had a very weak run, with ticket sales at a low 38.4K on its third day (D3).Meanwhile, SarvamMaya is putting up a respectable fight in its own league, selling a steady 28.2K tickets on its 18th day. Dhurandhar's Global Domination: Shaking Up the All-Time Overseas Box Office Rankings

The true measure of an Indian film's success is no longer confined to its domestic performance; the global box office is the ultimate arena where blockbusters become legends. For years, this elite club has been dominated by films that achieved astronomical success in markets like China. However, a new challenger has rewritten the rules. The phenomenal blockbuster Dhurandhar has not only shattered domestic records but has also made a spectacular entry into the all-time Top 10 list of highest-grossing Indian films overseas, a feat made even more remarkable by the significant hurdles it faced. The story of the year is undoubtedly Dhurandhar, which has already stormed into the #10 spot on the all-time overseas list with a monumental collection of ₹290 Cr. This incredible achievement is the crowning jewel on its staggering worldwide gross, which has surpassed ₹1259.5 Cr to date, already cementing its legacy as one of the highest-grossing Indian films in history. Its domestic dominance has been absolute, with its India Net collection soaring past ₹808 Cr and continuing to climb. The film's run so far has been defined by blistering speed—becoming the second-fastest Hindi film to cross the coveted ₹500 crore net mark—and incredible longevity, with its powerful sixth-week collections challenging the records of modern classics like Jawan and Uri. However, Dhurandhar's final overseas ranking comes with a compelling story of what could have been. The film did not secure a release in the lucrative Gulf countries, a market that is consistently a major contributor to a blockbuster's international tally. Industry analysts estimate that this resulted in a potential loss of at least ₹90 crore. Had the film earned this amount, its total overseas collection would have surged to ₹380 crore. This hypothetical figure would have catapulted Dhurandhar four places up the ladder to the #6 position, surpassing the epic Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and placing it just behind the Shah Rukh Khan starrers. This context reframes its #10 position not as a limitation, but as a testament to its raw power in the markets where it did release. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Looking at the rest of the list, the massive influence of the China box office is undeniable. Aamir Khan's Dangal remains in a league of its own, sitting at an untouchable #1 spot with a jaw-dropping ₹1535.3 Cr overseas, a figure powered almost entirely by its historic run in China. Following the same path, Secret Superstar stands tall at #2 with ₹831.47 Cr, another film that found unprecedented love from the Chinese audience. Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan also benefited immensely from a delayed China release, which propelled its international total to ₹489.47 Cr. The trend continued with surprise hits like Andhadhun (₹347.62 Cr) and the groundbreaking PK (₹303 Cr), both of which found massive success in the Far East. In the modern era, Shah Rukh Khan has reclaimed his title as the king of overseas with Jawan (₹400 Cr) and Pathaan (₹397.5 Cr). These films achieved their mammoth numbers without a China release, dominating traditional markets across the USA, Canada, UK, and Australia. Similarly, the pan-Indian epics Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (₹371.16 Cr) and the Oscar-winning RRR (₹314.15 Cr) proved that compelling storytelling can transcend language and cultural barriers, finding success across the globe. Dhurandhar's entry into this prestigious list is a watershed moment, proving that a film can achieve global blockbuster status even without access to all key markets. By making the film more accessible in its 40th day, the makers are targeting repeat audiences and family crowds who have been waiting for the hype to settle. What makes this offer even more interesting is the data behind the film's Tuesday performance, which reveals a legendary long-run stamina. When analyzing the Hindi Net collections of the year's top grossers, Dhurandhar (currently at #4 globally) and Pushpa 2: The Rule (currently at #3) present a fascinating case study. While Pushpa 2 had a massive, record-breaking start, Dhurandhar took over the lead in terms of theatrical legs starting from the second week. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   Specifically on Tuesdays, Dhurandhar showed a rare growth in its second week (₹30.5 Cr) compared to its first (₹27 Cr). By the time both films reached their fifth Tuesday, Dhurandhar was collecting ₹4.75 Cr, which is significantly higher than Pushpa 2's ₹1.5 Cr in the same period. This highlights that while Pushpa 2 was front-loaded, Dhurandhar is a genuine sleeper juggernaut. The ₹149 offer is expected to give Dhurandhar a significant boost on its 6th Tuesday (Day 40). Mumbai, January 10 - Director Aditya Dhar's spy action thriller Dhurandhar continues its historic box office run, rewriting the all-time Indian cinema record books globally. The movie has been shattering records after records, and the latest films to become its victim are SS Rajamouli's RRR and Prashanth Neel's KGF: Chapter 2. The Ranveer Singh-fronted blockbuster has become the 4th highest-grossing Indian film of all-time at the worldwide box office, after outgrossing RRR (1230 crore) and KGF: Chapter 2 (1215 crores) over the last couple of days. In 36 days so far, Dhuradhar has grossed around 1240 crores worldwide, including over 950 crores gross in India alone. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film's success is particularly significant as it marks a rare instance of a single-language Indian film surpassing massive multi-language and pan-India spectacles in worldwide earnings. Its long theatrical legs, repeat audience turnout, and strong word-of-mouth are the reasons for its unprecedented performance weeks after release. With this milestone, Dhurandhar now finds itself just behind the top three highest-grossing Indian films of all time. Even though it is still performing very well, Dhurandhar will finish its box office run between 1300-1350 crores gross at the 4th highest-grossing Indian title, behind Pushpa 2's 1740+ crores worldwide cume. Dhurandhar Box Office: IMPPA Appeals to PM Modi to Lift Ban in 6 Gulf Countries After Film Enters ₹1200 Cr Club

The Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) has officially reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking his immediate intervention to lift the ban on the blockbuster spy thriller Dhurandhar across six Gulf nations. In a formal letter dated January 7, 2026, the producers' body termed the ban a suppression of the freedom of expression, especially since the film has already been cleared by India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and has emerged as a historic success. The appeal follows reports that authorities in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Saudi Arabia have restricted the film's release. The ban is reportedly due to the film's sensitive geopolitical plot, which follows Indian covert intelligence operations set against the backdrop of real-life terror events such as the 26/11 Mumbai attacks and the IC-814 hijacking. Despite its massive global popularity, Gulf censors have allegedly flagged the content as having anti-Pakistan messaging, a claim the filmmakers and IMPPA have moved to challenge through diplomatic channels. Massive Financial Setback: ₹90 Crore Lost. Directed by Uri fame Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar has emerged as an All Time Blockbuster, recently entering the elite ₹1,200 crore club worldwide. While it is currently nearing the all-time Hindi net record set by Pushpa 2: The Rule, the film has already cemented its place as one of the biggest Indian grossers in history. As per the latest reports, the film has amassed a Worldwide gross of ₹1228 Cr, with an India Net of ₹786 Cr, India Gross of ₹943 Cr, and Overseas collections reaching ₹285 Cr. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   However, despite these historic numbers, the lack of a Middle Eastern release—a traditional stronghold for Indian action films—has caused a significant financial dent.Overseas distributor Pranab Kapadia estimated that the ban across six Gulf countries has resulted in a loss of nearly $10 million (approx. ₹90 crore) from that market alone. IMPPA President Abhay Sinha emphasized in the letter to the Prime Minister that these are India-friendly countries with whom India shares robust economic and cultural ties, making the unilateral ban even more unexpected. The letter, which was also copied to Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar and I&B Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urges the Government of India to engage with the respective authorities to ensure that artistic freedom is respected. Dhurandhar features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, portraying a high-octane operation set in Karachi's Lyari area. As the film continues its record-breaking run in North America and India, the industry remains hopeful that government-level dialogue will allow the millions of Indian expats in the Middle East to finally watch the film on the big screen.

Ranveer Singh Starrer Dhurandhar Nears Pushpa 2 Record Ahead of The Second Part's Titanic Clash with Yash's Toxic

Yash Raj Films has acknowledged the historic box office run of Dhurandhar, as the Ranveer Singh-starrer continues its sensational march in theatres. The Aditya Dhar directorial has not only shattered multiple records in its extended run but has now firmly positioned itself as the biggest blockbuster in Hindi cinema history. After completing over a month at the box office, Dhurandhar recently scripted another milestone by delivering the biggest 5th weekend ever for a Hindi film, collecting an impressive ₹33.25 crore net. With this, the film's total net collection has surged past 781 crore in just 33 days, putting it within striking distance of Pushpa 2's all-time Hindi net record. It will cross Pushpa 2's 812 crore net record over its 6th weekend to become the biggest Hindi grosser. Dhurandhar has set a new gold standard for solo-language releases. While other ₹1000-crore club entrants relied on pan-India, multi-language releases to increase their numbers, Ranveer Singh's espionage drama has achieved this gargantuan feat through its Hindi version only, making it a unique record holder in the history of the Indian box office. Director Aditya Dhar has once again proven his mettle in the action-thriller genre. After the massive success of Uri: The Surgical Strike, Dhar has scaled even greater heights with Dhurandhar. Below is a look at his top-performing directorial ventures: Dhurandhar (2025): ₹781.75 Cr+ (India Net - Ongoing) Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019): ₹244.14 Cr (India Net) With just two major releases, Aditya Dhar has become one of the most bankable directors in the country. His ability to blend realistic military/intelligence operations with high-octane commercial cinema has resonated deeply with the Naya Bharat audience. The frenzy surrounding the film isn't stopping anytime soon. The makers have already confirmed Dhurandhar: Part 2 (officially titled Dhurandhar 2: Revenge), which is slated for a grand release on March 19, 2026. However, the path to the box office won't be easy this time. Dhurandhar 2 is set for a massive box office collision with Yash's highly anticipated Pan-India film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   While Dhurandhar currently rules the charts, one cannot underestimate the box office might of Yash, who essentially redefined the Pan-India phenomenon. Yash's KGF: Chapter 2 (2022) holds the distinction of being the Highest Grossing Indian Film of the Year (HGOTY) for 2022, with a staggering Indian net collection of approximately ₹859.7 Crore and a worldwide gross of ₹ 1,215 crore. Even before the sequel, KGF: Chapter 1 had already set a benchmark as the first Kannada film to cross the ₹250 crore mark worldwide. Yash remains one of the few actors whose films have consistently challenged the dominance of the biggest Bollywood and Tollywood stars, making his upcoming return with Toxic a genuine threat to any record currently standing. Dhurandhar has received praise not just for its box office numbers but for its technical brilliance. Featuring an ensemble cast of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, the film gripped audiences despite its massive 214-minute (3 hours and 34 minutes) runtime. As the film continues its legendary run, it currently stands as the 4th highest domestic grosser of all time, sitting just behind Pushpa 2: The Rule, Baahubali 2, and KGF Chapter 2. With the sequel arriving in just a few months, the Dhurandhar mania is only expected to intensify.

Dhurandhar Box Office: Ranveer Singh-starrer Smashes More Records In 5th Weekend

Mumbai, January 5 - Ranveer Singh's spy action thriller Dhurandhar is showing no sign of slowing down as it continues its historic box office run, smashing yet another major record in its fifth weekend and inching closer to rewriting the all-time Hindi cinema record books. The Aditya Dhar's directorial collected a phenomenal 33.25 crore net in its 5th weekend, making it not just the biggest 5th-weekend grosser in the history of Hindi cinema but also the biggest 5th week, after it crossed the entire 5th week total of Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, which minted 30 crores net earlier last year. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) No Hindi film before Dhurandhar has managed to pull such massive numbers so deep into its theatrical run. With this, Dhurandhar's total net collection has surged past 772 crore in just 31 days. The Ranveer Singh-led blockbuster is now only around 40 crore away from Pushpa 2, which currently holds the record for being the biggest Hindi net grosser of all time. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is the consistency of the film's run. Even in its fifth week, Dhurandhar is registering numbers that many big releases struggle to achieve during their opening weekends. Strong word of mouth, repeat audiences, and sustained footfalls across multiplexes and single screens have ensured minimal drop on weekdays and explosive growth over weekends. With no major Hindi releases posing a serious threat in the immediate days ahead, Dhurandhar is well-positioned to overtake Pushpa 2 and claim the all-time Hindi net box office crown in the coming weeks. As it stands, Dhurandhar is not just a blockbuster but a once-in-a-generation box office phenomenon, redefining longevity and setting new benchmarks. Stay tuned...

The Pioneers of Bollywood's Box Office: Charting the Journey from the 50 Cr to the 700 Cr Club

In the dynamic world of Bollywood, the crore club is the ultimate benchmark for commercial success, a testament to a film's widespread appeal and box office dominance. Over the decades, this prestigious club has evolved, with its entry points constantly being pushed higher by cinematic giants. From the first film to net ₹50 crores to the latest behemoth crossing the ₹700 crore mark, this journey chronicles the evolution of the Hindi film industry's scale, reach, and audience. Here's a look at the pioneering actors and films that inaugurated each of these milestone clubs, setting new standards for success in Indian cinema. The journey began in the pre-multiplex era with Salman Khan's Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994). A cultural phenomenon, it became the first Hindi film to cross the ₹50 crore net mark, a staggering achievement for its time. With record-breaking footfalls of approximately 7.4 crores, its success revived the family entertainer genre and cemented its place as the highest-grossing Indian film of the 20th century. The modern box office era, however, was truly kicked off by Aamir Khan's Ghajini (2008). It became the first film to officially inaugurate the coveted ₹100 Crore Club, driven by a powerful marketing campaign and Aamir's physical transformation. The film set a new benchmark for what was commercially possible, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2008. Aamir Khan continued his trailblazing streak with 3 Idiots (2009), which became the first film to enter the ₹200 Crore Club. A monumental success both critically and commercially, it was declared an all-time blockbuster, earning over ₹400 crores globally and finding unprecedented success in overseas markets like China. A few years later, Aamir Khan once again rewrote history with PK(2014). The satirical comedy-drama was the first film to breach the ₹300 Crore Club domestically, proving that content-driven cinema could achieve unparalleled commercial success. It also became the highest-grossing Indian film globally at the time of its release. For nearly a decade, the next milestones seemed insurmountable, until Shah Rukh Khan's spectacular comeback with Pathaan (2023). The film shattered every existing record, becoming the first original Hindi film to storm into the ₹400 Crore and ₹500 Crore Clubs. It registered the biggest opening day for a Hindi film and became the fastest to cross numerous milestones, grossing over ₹1,000 crores worldwide without a release in China. Shah Rukh Khan outdid himself the same year with Jawan (2023), which set an even higher benchmark by becoming the first Hindi film to enter the ₹600 Crore Club. The film achieved the highest opening day ever for an Indian film and made SRK the only actor to deliver two ₹1000 crore blockbusters in a single year. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({})   The bar was raised yet again by Ranveer Singh's espionage thriller Dhurandhar (2025). The film captivated the nation with its sustained and historic run, becoming the first film to inaugurate the elite ₹700 Crore Club at the Indian box office, solidifying its position as an all-time blockbuster and setting a new target for the industry to chase.
