The year 2025 has been quite an eventful one for the Hindi film industry. We witnessed a diverse mix of films working at the box office, ranging from historical epics to high-octane spy thrillers. While a few big-ticket releases struggled to make a mark, several content-driven and commercial entertainers successfully drew audiences to the theatres. It was a year where Vicky Kaushal delivered a massive blockbuster, the Horror-Comedy universe extended its winning streak, and Ranveer Singh made a solid return to the big screen. As we analyze the annual report card, here is the verified list of Bollywood movies that managed to cross the coveted ₹100 Crore mark at the box office in 2025. CHHAAVA (The All-Time Blockbuster) Vicky Kaushal's portrayal of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj has not just won hearts; it has shattered records. Directed by Laxman Utekar, this historical epic became a cultural phenomenon. It managed to enter the 100 Crore club thanks to the franchise value, but trade verdicts label it as an underperformer given its massive budget and scale. 2025 in Review: Highly Anticipated Films That Disappointed at the Box Office

Having a big star cast and a huge budget does not always guarantee a film's success at the box office. Every year, some of the most awaited movies fail to connect with the audience and end up being major disappointments. The year 2025 saw several such films that had immense pre-release hype but could not deliver the expected results. Let's take a look at the big-scale films that underperformed this year. Highly Anticipated Films of 2025: A Look at the NumbersMovie NameBudgetWorldwide CollectionWar 2₹ 350 Cr₹ 364.35 CrGame Changer₹ 400 Cr₹ 186.25 CrSikandar₹ 180 Cr₹ 184.6 CrFateh₹ 40 Cr₹ 19.05 CrThug Life₹ 280 Cr₹ 97.25 CrVidaamuyarchi₹ 138 Cr₹ 135.65 CrVeera Dheera Sooran₹ 55 Cr₹ 63.45 CrHari Hara Veera Mallu₹ 250 Cr₹ 116.82 Cr120 Bahadur₹ 85 Cr₹ 23.66 CrBaaghi 4₹ 80 Cr₹ 77 Cr (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Bollywood saw some of its most dependable names and franchises falter this year. War 2, the sequel to a mammoth blockbuster, opened huge due to the hype. However, negative word-of-mouth spread quickly, and the film failed the crucial Monday test, with collections dropping over 70% from its opening day. It was unable to recover and ended its run as a theatrical flop. Salman Khan's Eid offering, Sikandar, also opened big but saw no growth over the weekend. The collections crashed on Monday, and the film barely managed to recover its budget, making it a major underperformer. Franchise films also took a hit this year. Baaghi 4, starring Tiger Shroff, failed to make an impact and ended its run with collections below its budget. Sonu Sood's directorial, Fateh, had a very poor run in theaters. However, some reports suggest the film found its audience after its release on OTT platforms. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) South Indian cinema also delivered some of the year's biggest shocks. Ram Charan and director Shankar's mega-budget film Game Changer was expected to be a pan-India blockbuster. However, the film was rejected by the audience from day one and struggled to even cross the ₹200 crore mark against its massive budget. Kamal Haasan's Thug Life, Ajith Kumar's Vidaamuyarchi , and Vikram's Veera Dheera Sooran also were the other highly anticipated Tamil films that failed to perform. The films received poor reviews, which resulted in a short and unprofitable theatrical run. Pawan Kalyan's long-in-the-making period action film Hari Hara Veera Mallu also turned out to be a major disapointment. Made on a budget of over ₹250 crore, the film's collections did not even cross the halfway mark. The historical film 120 Bahadur, despite its interesting subject, has failed to attract audiences and its collections have remained very low in its run so far, while the film is still in theaters.

Salman Khan Takes A Dig At Director AR Murugadoss For His Remark On Sikandar's Failure

Mumbai, October 13 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has taken a sarcastic dig at director AR Murugadoss, who made wild excuses for the failure of Sikandar. The action drama, which marked Salman's first collaboration with ARM, was released earlier this year and bombed at the box office. During the recent interview, ARM said that it was difficult for him to work on the film as he seemingly accused the superstar of reporting late to the sets. Though ARM also said that Salman used to come at 8 PM due to the security threat, his remarks didn't go well with the actor. During the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Big Boss 19, Salman responded to the criticism with his trademark wit. "I used to reach the set at 9 PM, but my ribs were fractured." In a sarcastic tone, Salman added, "Hamare director sahab bolte the aisa, lekin unki picture (Madharaasi) jo abhi release hui hai, uske actor to 6 baje pahuchte the. Wo Sikandar se bhi badi blockbuster hai". Salman also stated that both producer Sajid Nadiadwala and Murugadoss distanced themselves from Sikandar after its box-office failure. "First, Sajid left, and then Murugadoss also stepped away to work on a South film," he quipped, hinting that the team moved on quickly after the film's underwhelming performance. #Latest: On the #BiggBoss19 set, Megastar #SalmanKhan finally opened up about what went wrong with Sikandar and took a strong stand against director A.R. Top 10 Biggest First Week Grossers of 2025 In Hindi: Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 Fifth

Mumbai, October 10 - Amid the dominance of outright Bollywood films, a South Indian title has also made a noise as far as the biggest first earners of 2025 in Hindi are concerned. Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1 has lived up to the expectations to score 100+ crores opening week in the dubbed Hindi version. The film's Hindi version has scored a good first-week collection of 107 crore net, making it the fifth biggest first-week grosser of 2025 in Hindi. The achievement is even more impressive considering it's a dubbed Kannada release competing with some of Bollywood's biggest franchises and star-studded blockbusters. Vicky Kaushal's mega blockbuster Chhaava is the biggest opening week grosser of 2025 in Hindi, with dominating numbers of 219 crore, setting a new benchmark for Hindi films this year. It's followed by Yash Raj Films' unexpected blockbuster Saiyaara, starring debutante Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, with 173 crores, while Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR's War 2 is third in the list with 150 crores first week. Here are the top 10 biggest first-week net-grossers of 2025 in Hindi - 1. Chhaava – 219.25 crore 2. Saiyaara – 172.75 crore 3. War 2 – 150.40 crore 4. Housefull 5 – 127.25 crore 5. Kantara Chapter 1 – 106.95 crore 6. Raid 2 – 95.75 crore 7. Sitaare Zameen Par – 88.00 crore 8. Sky Force – 86.50 crore 9. Sikandar – 90.25 crore 10. Jolly LLB 3 – 74.00 crore While Chhaava continues to reign supreme with an extraordinary 219+ crore first week, Saiyaara did surprise one and all with a massive opening week. YRF's War 2, though it is the third in the list, largely underperformed considering the massive expectations had from it. Kantara 2 entering the 100 crores club within the first week is a solid result for a dubbed version. With multiple 100 crore openers and even mid-range films showing resilience, 2025 is set to hear for a solid end with a few potential blockbusters lined up to release in the remaining months. Did AR Murugadoss Blame Salman Khan For Sikandar's Box Office Failure?

Chennai, August 19 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss has been in the media headlines ever since his film, Sikandar with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, failed miserably at the box office and turned into one of the lowest-grossing films of the actor in many years. ## In one of the interviews, the Ghajini director reasoned that due to a language barrier, he couldn't properly execute his plans, which led to the downfall of the film. Now, a new report is circulating on social media where it is claiming that ARM blamed Salman for the film's box office failure. ## According to the many reports, referring to ARM's interview with Bhardwaj Ranjan, it is said that the filmmaker accused the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star of not coming on the set during the day, as they had to shoot the film only after 9 PM, even with school-going children. ## While it is true that ARM said the above thing, it is not entirely true that he put the blame on Salman. The filmmaker reasoned that due to death threats to the superstar (which are valid and genuine), they couldn't shoot the film during the day in open areas, and that is why they chose night schedules. ## Because of this unavoidable reason, the shooting of Sikandar had a lot of spot changes and involved CG work more than expected. The Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty director, however, claimed that he couldn't execute the original story, which was close to his heart. And that he was not the only one who was accountable for his poor execution, as he did not have a commanding unit. ## Meanwhile, ARM is gearing up for the release of Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, which is scheduled for September 5. ## Stay tuned...

Sikandar Director AR Murugadoss Responds To Why Tamil Cinema Is Not Able To Produce 1000 Crore Films

Chennai, August 18 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss, who last directed superstar Salman Khan's Sikandar, has been in the news for the past few weeks for various reasons. The director caught everyone's attention recently when he blamed the language barrier for the box office failure of Sikandar, even though he had delivered a couple of big blockbusters in Hindi. ## A few weeks after his statement regarding Sikandar's failure went viral, the Ghajini director gave another statement, which is making a lot of noise on social media. During the promotion of his upcoming film Madharaasi, starring Sivakarthikeyan, Murugadoss explained why Tamil films are not earning 1000 crores worldwide, while other top industries do. ## Speaking to Valaipechu Voice, the director observed that Tamil filmmakers approach cinema differently from their counterparts in other industries. "Filmmakers in other languages tend to concentrate on entertaining people only, whereas Tamil directors tend to view cinema from an educational standpoint," he said. ## He noted that "Tamil cinema typically carries messages of what viewers should or should not do, which impacts their commercial success," while stressing that "Tamil directors are not to be compared directly with filmmakers from other regions because their goals are different." ## Meanwhile, ARM's Madharaasi is scheduled to release on September 5. It stars Sivakarthikeyan, Vidyut Jammwal, Biju Menon, Vikranth, Shabeer Kallarakkal and Rukmini Vasanth in the lead roles, alongside Prem Kumar, Sanjay and Sachana Namidass. ## Stay tuned...
