Sidharth Malhotra's Top 5 Opening Weekend Grossers: Param Sundari At No. 4 Behind Student of The Year

Mumbai, September 1 - Bollywood actor Sidharth Malhotra returns to the big screen with the romantic-comedy Param Sundari, which is off to a good start at the box office. The movie carried a decent buzz, which also translated into footfalls on the expected lines. Param Sundari scored the opening weekend collection of around 27 crores net, which is among the biggest of his career, but the biggest opening weekend still belongs to Brothers, which released in 2015 and also starred Akshay Kumar. The action drama opened to good numbers and collected around 52 crore in its first three days. Close behind Brothers is romantic action thriller Ek Villain (2014), which turned out to be a game-changer for Sidharth. With its strong music and gripping storyline, the film earned over 50 crores net in its opening weekend and cemented the actor's standing among the bankable young stars of that time. Sidharth's debut film, Student of the Year (2012), backed by Karan Johar, continues to hold a special place. Despite being a launchpad for three newcomers, Sidharth, Varun Dhawan, and Alia Bhatt, the film impressed at the ticket windows with a 30 crore weekend. More than a decade later, it still outshines some of his recent work, including Param Sundari, when it comes to the opening performance. Just behind Param Sundari, which is the 4th biggest opening weekend grosser of the actor, is Kapoor & Sons (2016), which managed 26 crore despite not being promoted as a mass entertainer. Another notable film is Marjaavaan (2019), which collected over 24 crore but couldn't break into the top five weekend grossers of Sidharth. With Param Sundari placing fourth in his career's biggest opening weekends, it's evident that Sidharth's strongest box office impact so far has come from action-packed or ensemble films. As he continues to explore new genres, fans and trade alike will be watching closely to see if he can surpass the benchmark set by Brothers and deliver an even bigger opening in the future. From Student of the Year to Param Sundari: 13 Years of Sidharth Malhotra's Cinematic Journey

Mumbai, August 28 - Very few would have imagined the journey Sidharth Malhotra was going to have when he made his Bollywood debut with filmmaker Karan Johar's coming-of-age romantic comedy Student of the Year in 2012. Over the last 13 years, the actor has left a mark with films across romance, action, thrillers, and war drama genres. As he now gears up for his 2025 release, Param Sundari, here's a look at the highlights of his cinematic journey so far. The Debut and Early Success Filmmaker Karan Johar, famous for launching star kids in Bollywood, launched Sidharth alongside Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in Student of the Year (2012), a youthful drama that became a commercial success and positioned him as a promising newcomer. He followed it up with Hasee Toh Phasee (2014), a quirky rom-com where his chemistry with Parineeti Chopra was appreciated, and Ek Villain (2014), which marked his entry into the big league. Experimentation and Mixed Bag Phase After the big early success, Sidharth tested different genres over the next few years. In Brothers (2015), he attempted a high-intensity sports drama with superstar Akshay Kumar, as the film ended up as an average affair. Kapoor & Sons (2016), however, turned out to be a critical and commercial hit, showcasing him in an ensemble with a layered family drama. Films like Baar Baar Dekho (2016), A Gentleman (2017), Ittefaq (2017), and Aiyaary (2018) received mixed to negative responses, making this a challenging period for the actor. The Resurgence & Patriotic Turn Sidharth bounced back with Marjaavaan (2019), a massy romantic action film with seetimaar dialogues that connected with single-screen audiences. It was the biographical war drama, Shershaah (2021), that could have become the biggest box office success of the actor, but it was denied that chance due to its direct-to-digital release. It was still a game-changer for the actor as his portrayal of Captain Vikram Batra won widespread acclaim, bringing him critical respect, as he was hailed for delivering his career-best performance. Recent Works & Looking Ahead Post-Shershaah, Sidharth ventured into diverse territories. He shared screen with Ajay Devgn in the fantasy comedy-drama film Thank God (2022), which bombed at the box office, before he starred in a direct-to-digital release, Mission Majnu (2023), a patriotic spy thriller, and Yodha (2024), a high-octane action film. The actor's journey after the COVID-19 pandemic has hit a roadblock with no big success, barring Shershaah, which saved the day for him. The actor is now stepping into romantic comedy once again with Param Sundari (2025), co-starring Janhvi Kapoor. Billed as a breezy entertainer, the film is already generating buzz as a genre comeback for Sidharth after years of intense roles. The movie, from Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, is gearing up to hit the big screens on August 29, as a potential success for the actor. Across 13 years, Sidharth Malhotra's cinematic journey has had highs and lows, but what stands out is his resilience and ability to reinvent himself. From the candy-floss romance of Student of the Year to the grit of Shershaah, and now towards the playful charm of Param Sundari, he continues to remain a relevant and evolving presence in Bollywood. Going forward, the actor continues to experiment, as his next is a folk thriller, Vvan: Force of the Forrest, which releases next year. Stay tuned...

War 2's Box Office Result Alters YRF's Ambitious Spy Universe Plans For Jr. NTR

Mumbai, August 26 - Yash Raj Films' ambitious Spy Universe is heading into the days of uncertainty after the underwhelming results of Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-fronted War 2, along with Salman Khan's Tiger 3 at the box office. Particularly, the War 2's box office performance seems to have put the curtains on what could have been the future of Spy Universe. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 was easily the most ambitious and the biggest film in the Spy Universe. It marked the first major collaboration between North and South with the inclusion of Telugu superstar Jr. NTR in his Bollywood debut. The film was expected to write new chapters in box office history, but what happened with it has shocked everyone, as it is set to finish below 400 crores worldwide. Reportedly, YRF had planned a standalone War 2 spin-off film with Jr. NTR's character Vikram in the Spy Universe. According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, the studio has decided to drop plans of making a standalone film with Jr. NTR following the disappointing box office run of War 2. The studio was already reportedly developing a standalone film for Agent Vikram, but the failure of War 2 has halted the entire process. It is said that producer Aditya Chopra has decided not to move forward with the project. As reported earlier, the filmmaker is now redesigning the Spy Universe to give it a fresh touch. Currently, only Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh's Alpha is scheduled in the Spy Universe, on December 25 this year. Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan 2, which is supposed to be the next film after Alpha, is also said to be postponed indefinitely, while other films, including Tiger vs Pathaan, are not moving forward at the moment. War 2 is the sixth film in the Spy Universe, and it also stars Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor in the key roles. It is the costliest Spy Universe film yet, with a budget of over 400 crores, but has disappointed with its box office performance so far, grossing just around 344 crores worldwide in 12 days. Kartik Aaryan, Sreeleela's Musical Love Story With Director Anurag Basu Locks Christmas 2025 Release

Mumbai, August 14 - One of the most-anticipated romantic films of the year, starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela in the leading roles, has locked its release date. The untitled film is directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Bhushan Kumar of T-Series. ## According to the latest report by Bollywood Hungama, the musical love story will be hitting worldwide theatres on December 25, 2025, on the occasion of Christmas. With this, it has confirmed a clash with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh's spy action thriller Alpha, which is slated to release on the same day. ## While the plot details of the movie are kept under wraps, the report hints at a narrative that combines strong drama with Anurag Basu's signature blend of whimsy and human connection. The production is already being touted as a large-scale, big-screen experience with music and visuals crafted to match the grandeur of its release window. ## It will be Kartik's immediate next after the superhit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which was released in November last year. The movie was supposed to be released on Diwali, in a clash with Maddock Films' Thama, but due to a delay in the shoot, it will now be released on Christmas. ## Stay tuned...

Additional Runtime For The Post-Credit Scene of Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2? Cameo Details Revealed

Mumbai, August 8 - Yash Raj Films' spy action thriller War 2 is set to be the longest film in the Spy Universe with the theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 53 minutes, beating Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai (2 hours and 42 minutes). However, there might be an additional runtime for the upcoming blockbuster. ## According to the report by Mid-Day, the Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-starrer was originally censored by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on August 6, with an approved runtime of 183 minutes. However, YRF has submitted for re-conser with a new runtime of 173 minutes. ## The shorter theatrical cut is now reportedly much more aligned with the makers' original vision. It is said that the team didn't want to compromise on the pace of the Ayan Mukerji-directed film, especially in the second half. To deliver a tighter, more gripping film, it was reportedly decided by the team that they would edit the film further and resubmit. ## Meanwhile, there have been blockbuster reports about the War 2's post-credit scene. It has been confirmed that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh from YRF's next spy universe film, Alpha, will feature in the post-credit scene. However, rumours are rife that Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Salman Khan's Tiger will also appear in the end credits, but it hasn't been confirmed by reliable sources. ## Mid-Day, however, reports that the makers will submit the post-credit scene separately for certification this week, so the final runtime of the movie is expected to exceed 3 hours, hinting at how crucial this bonus scene might be. The post-credit sequence, much like Pathaan and Tiger 3, is designed to expand the cinematic universe.## The film is scheduled to release on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. ## Stay tuned...

'Brahmastra 2' To Be Ayan Mukerji's Next After 'War 2' And 'Dhoom 4'

Mumbai, May 7 — Bollywood filmmakers are shifting to the full franchise mode and lining up more sequels or threequels, which are becoming guaranteed box office winners. Amid several sequels already in the works, the latest reports suggest there are nearly half a dozen more films that are getting a franchise treatment. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2, Queen 2, and Kahani 3 are already in development, and now, the sequels to Luka Chuppi, Garam Masala, and Brahasmtra have also entered the writing stage. It is to be noted that the demand for all these sequels has been going on for some time now.## Among the aforementioned sequels, Brahmastra Part 2 - Dev was one of the first to be confirmed, and the report says that director Ayan Mukerji has started working on it, though he is currently directing War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, and is on the verge of wrapping it up. ## It is said that Mukerji has got on board a fresh set of writers for Brahmastra 2. Rajat Arora (Once Upon A Time in Mumbai & Kick) is working on the dialogues of Brahmastra 2, with another team working towards polishing the screenplay. ## The filming of this epic fantasy action-adventure sequel is expected to start in the second half of 2026 after Ayan wraps up his current commitments. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal's 'Love and War' To Be Delayed

Mumbai, April 22 - Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic romantic drama Love & War might be delayed from its original March 2026 release. The film starring Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal is currently under production. ## The shoot of Love & War kicked off last year, and the makers announced a March 20, 2026, release. According to the latest report by The Hollywood Reporter India, the current shooting timeline of the film involves a mega war sequence, which the director will mount on a huge scale. ## After the war sequence is filmed, which will only reportedly happen in November this year, the makers aim to wrap the entire filming by January 2026. Given the delay in the shoot, it will be almost impossible for the team to complete the post-production in 2 months and release the film in March, per THR India.## Given all the aforementioned situations, the film is most likely to be delayed. Interestingly, Yash-fronted Toxic was recently confirmed for March 20, 2026, release in multiple languages, and that might be the first indication of Love and War getting delayed. ## Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor and Yash have teamed up for the first time for the epic Ramayana, in which the former plays the role of Lord Rama while Yash features as Ravana. This 2-part film is currently in production for Diwali 2026 and Diwali 2027 release, simultaneously.## Stay tuned...
