Box Office: Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' Tops 100 Crores Net In India

Mumbai, August 2 - Blockbuster Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan's atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" has crossed the 100 crores net mark at the Indian box office, becoming the first movie of the director to achieve the feat in the country.## "Oppenheimer" tops the 100 crores net mark on its 13th day (2nd Wednesday) in both the versions - English and Hindi. The original English version has contributed approx. 90% of the total collection while the Hindi version has done the remaining. It didn't release in other languages.## Based on the life of American theoretical physicist and polymath J. Robert Oppenheimer, "Oppenheimer" is the 3rd Hollywood movie of the year after "Fast X" and "Mission Impossible 7" while it is the 13th Hollywood movie ever to reach the century mark at the Indian box office.## Check out day-wise collection of the movie here## "Oppenheimer" has done exceptionally well in the IMAX and has grossed approx. 23 crores so far which is around 20% of the total collection. The total gross collection of the movie is approx. 119 crores in 19 days. Christopher Nolan's Atom Bomb Movie 'Oppenheimer' Was Shot In Less Than Two Months

Los Angeles, July 18 - Blockbuster filmmaker Christopher Nolan's upcoming atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" was shot in less than two months, revealed actor Cillian Murphy who plays the title role as J. Robert Oppenheimer, a theoretical physicist who was pivotal in developing the first nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project and thereby ushering in the Atomic Age. ## "Oppenheimer" will reportedly be run for nearly three hours and it consists of unbelievably zero CGI shots, as confirmed by Nolan himself recently. Meanwhile, Cillian Murphy said during an interview on Marc Maron's "WTF" podcast (via Variety), that the movie was filmed in just 57 days.## "We made the movie unbelievably quickly. We made it in 57 days. The pace of that was insane", the actor revealed. In comparison to Nolan's previous movies, the World War II survival thriller "Dunkirk" was shot in 68 days, and his massive spy movie "Tenet" was shot in 96 days. ## "The sets are huge, but it feels like being on an independent movie. There's just Chris and the cameraman — one camera always unless there's some huge, huge set piece — and the boom op and that's it. There's no video village, there's no monitors, nothing. He's a very analog filmmaker", Murphy added.## "Oppenheimer" is Christopher Nolan's longest film yet. Los Angeles, July 14 - The biggest box office battle heading into summer 2023, director Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" and Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" is heating up ahead of their July 21st release. The stakes are high for the two most-anticipated movies that received high-flying reception from their respective premiers. ## "Barbie", which stars Margot Robbie as the live-action form of the iconic fashion doll with Ryan Gosling as Ken, is expected to win the initial box office battle against "Oppenheimer" which is based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin about J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons on the Manhattan Project. ## The Warner Bros. Pictures distribution, "Barbie" is projected to earn $75+ million while Universal Pictures' "Oppenheimer" is tracking $40+ million in their opening weekend. Ahead of the showdown begins, "Barbie" gets the upper hand over Nolan's directorial by striking more theaters in the domestic (North America) markets. ## According to Hollywood reports, "Barbie" will officially open in 4100 theaters while "Oppenheimer" land in approx. 3600 theaters in the first week in North America. Here Is the Star-Cast Of Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer'

Los Angeles, February 23 - Hollywood filmmaker, Christopher Nolan seems to be on a mission, a mission to bring the best of the best star cast for his next directorial, "Oppenheimer". Based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the theoretical physicists remembered as one of the fathers of the atom bomb, the movie stars Cillian Murphy of Peaky Blinders as the title hero. ## If you wondering Cillian Murphy is the only star, playing a prominent role in Nolan's film, then you are definitely missing all the interesting things and casting happening around the film. But, fear not and read on to know everything about the cast of the film (so far).## On Tuesday (Feb. 22), Universal Pictures revealed the first-look image from the film, a black-and-white portrait of Murphy in character as Oppenheimer, gazing into the camera with a cigarette dangling from his lips. The studio also announced that Emmy Award winner, Kenneth Branagh has boarded the project, the details about his role, however, are kept in check for now. ## Branagh is just the latest to join the impressive list of stars, set to appear in Oppenheimer. Earlier, "A Quiet Place" actress Emily Blunt was announced on board to play Oppenheimer's wife. Matt Damon roped in to play General Leslie Groves Jr., the director of the Manhattan Project, and Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. is taking on the role of U.S. Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss.## Continuing the list, "Black Widow" star Florence Pugh cast as Jean Tatlock, a psychiatrist and member of the Communist party who had a romantic relationship with Oppenheimer. The rest of the cast includes Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Michael Angarano, Rami Malek, Dylan Arnold, Dane DeHaan, Matthew Modine, David Krumholtz, and Alden Ehrenreich in other prominent roles. ## Some of the stars who will be appearing in "Oppenheimer", have already worked with Nolan in his previous movies. Branagh had starred in British directors Dunkirk and Tenet. Murphy, meanwhile, appeared in all three of Nolan's Batman films, as well as Dunkirk and Inception. Damon had a role in 2014's sci-fi epic Interstellar. ## "Oppenheimer", meanwhile, has just entered production, and will be released in theaters on July 21, 2023. Gal Gadot's 'Death On The Nile' Opens To Number 1 At The Domestic Box Office

Los Angeles, February 13 - Gal Gadot-starrer murder mystery film "Death on the Nile", took an underwhelming start at the domestic box office with $5.1 million on Friday, followed by Jennifer Lopez-Owen Wilson romantic comedy "Marry Me" with $3 million at number 2. ## Disney and 20th Century Studios' "Death on the Nile", based on the famous Agatha Christie novel, is heading towards $12.7 million in its opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. The opening of the film, however, is only half as much as the opening day gross of its predecessor "Murder on the Orient Express" ($10.7 million) in 2017, which went on to score $102 million domestic gross. ## The Kenneth Branagh-directed cost $90 million in production, and Hollywood trade experts believe that the movie will find it tough to recover the production cost. The movie has faced several delays due to the covid-19 pandemic while the production of the film was greenlit shortly after the release of "Murder on the Orient Express". ## According to Variety, the box office fate of "Death on the Nile" may have seemed prewritten for quite some time now. Many of Disney's projects rooted in the Fox era have been perceived as disappointments, with films like "West Side Story", "The Last Duel" and "The King's Man" coming up short at the box office.## The film is the third screen adaptation of Christie's novel, following the 1978 film and an episode of the television series Agatha Christie's Poirot broadcast in 2004. Critics Choice Awards To Now Take Place On Same Day As BAFTAs

Los Angeles, Jan 14 (IANS) The Critics Choice Association has announced that it will hold the 2022 Critics Choice Awards ceremony on March 13, the same day as the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, reports 'Variety'.## The final round of voting for this year's Critics Choice Awards will take place on March 9-11. Steven Spielberg's 'West Side Story' and Kenneth Branagh's 'Belfast' dominated this year's batch of nominees.## In late December, the Critics Choice Association announced it would delay its 2022 awards ceremony because of concerns over the surge in Covid-19 cases and the Omicron variant. The event was originally set to take place on January 9.## "Following the science and tracking the course of the Omicron variant, we believe that March 13 will be the right day to properly honor the finest achievements in film and television during the past year," 'Variety' quoted the organization's CEO Joey Berlin as saying.## He added: "We could have proceeded with our original date with limited attendance or switched to a virtual awards show like we did last year, but we decided to wait until we could safely gather in person and truly celebrate with the creative community, industry leaders and our CCA members all together in one beautiful setting for all the world to see".## The reason why the Critics Choice Awards are now set to take place on the same evening as the BAFTAs is that reports 'Variety', they faced an onslaught of busy Sundays for television networks, and the city of Los Angeles is looking for a date to reschedule.## Super Bowl LVI, the NBA All-Star Game, and SAG Awards all take place on consecutive Sundays in February.
